Sure is nice to be living close to a terminal (one with a shop) when you need work done on your truck & you're going home. I live about 35 miles from the Wilmer terminal & my truck is due for a B service. Good timing too because my bunk heater has gone out
Wow, that black SUV in the Crete parking lot sure was flying around. Kevin and the other Crete driver looked like they were practicing for the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. 😂😂😂
Tell Kevin I was taught in the beginning of my trucking career to place one hand on dolly handle & one hand flat on the trailer when winding up dollys. This will keep him from injuring his lower back. Tell him to try it he will understand how this will protect his lower back once he trys this method. This method will keep the stress off his lower back.
Thank you so much for this tip! He says he engages his core and hasn’t felt vulnerable while winding dolly. But…he will give it a try. Protecting the lower back is VERY important. So THANK YOU!
I truly enjoy watching your videos. I look forward to seeing new one…silly me wakes up and checks to see if there is a new The Joy of Trucking video. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Not so silly! For 1.5 years we had one just about every day. Now it’s not quite so consistent. But there’ll be a lot in the next little while. We’re glad you enjoy riding with us!
We are so so sorry to hear about your heart failure issues. We hope that your health will stabilize and even improve. Please take extra good care of yourself. In the meantime we are happy to have you ride with us. 🤗🥰
So nice to see someone with a positive outlook about work in general. But specifically about the trucking industry. After I retired from 32 years as a LEO, I went to a mega-carrier and did OTR for a while. I only stopped because, A) wife wanted me home, and B) my asset manger was an AH. But honestly, I enjoyed it. If my wife would go with me, I’d go back.
Drive for Crete on the National Board. You and your wife will get to see the lower 48 states. It will be like a second honeymoon. Adventure and something different every day.
Crete is a good company. My only problem with the company they were a little too gung-ho for me. At this point in my driving career I like the slow and laid back driving style.
Pushy to a point and yes pushy in a good way. I understand they are just trying to keep you moving to make good miles but sometime you need a break to recharge and that’s what they didn’t understand.
Yes. It’s a very good company. As for ging-ho…We think a lot of it probably depends on freight and the asset manager. Kevin has never felt pressured. But glad you found a place where you enjoy being and can take it 😎…😃👍
@TheJoyofTrucking I guess that would work if you had something close to matched don't know if it would last very long if any of your terminals have a body shop they could help you
Nope. You didn’t miss any if you saw the blower as the last one (9 days ago). Just hadn’t been able to get another one up since then. But now we’re going to be on a roll again for a while…Thanks for your patience!!!
Costco has changed the strawberry sundae in Orange Park, dont know if all are. Don't know if they dump berry juice in mixer or what. Skimpy on the berries tho.
I love your videos and miss having them more often, but I understand. One question, what if another drive came in to the terminal between 'now' and 'tomorrow' morning and had a load which left 'tonight' and needed an empty trailer, and you are under the only one in the yard. Would/could the shop get into your truck and move it so the other driver would have an empty for his load?
I take it you never jumped a pin? If you back under a trailer that the air suspension lost the air and hook up your emergency airline and charge the airthat should fill the air suspension make sure your tracktor bkakes are locked
Good morning from NYC happy to see you with another video just curious do you add oil once in a while since the oil change is due every 75 k mikes thanks
@@TheJoyofTruckingthink crete/shaffer started mixing them up back in 2010 or so. Too them(maintenance dept) it didn’t matter what the color of the truck is and who the driver was driving for. “Air out”was such good advice, CDL school and mentor never covered it. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice Video
Thanks!!! Nice to ‘see’ you!!!
I was always taught to leave 2 inches between the landing gear and the ground. Then drop my airbags and pull out from the trailer.
Wow, that black SUV in the Crete parking lot sure was flying around. Kevin and the other Crete driver looked like they were practicing for the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. 😂😂😂
I thought the same thing…✈️ or synchronized swimming. 😆😆😆
Every time you say “Rambling Rose” I always think of a mash up of “Ramblin’ Man” by tha Allman Brothers and “Crackling Rosie” by Neil Diamond 😂
👍😎😆😆😆And there is also a Ramblin’ Rose song.

Hello NYC!!! We are happy to be back. 😃 In the last 86,000 miles Kevin has added 2 quarts of oil and 1 gallon of coolant in total.
I see quite a few blue Crete trucks on the road. Is there difference between the blue and red besides the color?
Blue used to be Shaffer. But now they mix’em up a bit.

Just wondering the blue Semis and trailers they hall different areas of the country and different products
The blue trailers are refrigerated units. The blue trucks were originally Shaffer, but they've been mixed for many years now.
The blue tractors used to be Shaffer for refrigerated. Now the red and blue get mixed up a bit.
