  • Hi friends, Many had a question like where do these long served buses vanish...? So, here is the answer. The bus gets scrapped after running the prescribed Kilometers by the manufacturer.
Here are some of the pics of scraps.

Certainly brings back memories of school days. I used to travel in KA-01-f1358 on the 78 route for my 12th standard. Thanks for calling out the number plates. I see a lot of busses from the same registration series. Earlier I used to take busses on the 79 route ( CAF 103, MEF 466, MEF 221, MEF 154 and MYF 853). The CAF 27 bus was part of the BTC's first set of luxury A/C city busses. The were built on the Tata 807 chassis ( if I remember correctly) and this particular one could have been running on the 80 route. Our school bus passes at that time used to allow us only a limited set of route numbers and we would carefully forge in more route numbers :-)

I am fortunate in travel in these buses during my Bangalore trips during 2000s as a kid... Bangalore was just growing then.... Roads were narrow and no metro was there.
Recently when I went to Bangalore, I was so astonished by the changes occurred within 10 years that I couldn't recognize the streets and places.

Not necessary bro. These buses engines have lost power and body shell become weak. Infact to be used as a goods carrier, the vehicle must be strong enough to carry heavy loads without trouble which we couldn't expect from these. So, they reached their FINAL DESTINATION.

Good collection of Old Buses. My Journeys in BMTC stopped after 1997 prior to that all type of old buses with aged driver's Dodge Ford Buses had a very round big stearing it was very hard to turn as power steering came I think after 1995 or so I exactly don't know. In Bangalore many places had very big circles some drivers would never turn the full circle. These aged driver's follow a procedure they had the habit of putting snuff. You can imagine I am talking about from 1970 onwards I am now 56.

But, have experienced sitting on the driver seats in many BMTC buses later, viz:- KA01F 2111 on route 2B/2E, KA01F2014 on route 43E. You can find those exlusive bus pics in my channel. The suggestion is good. But the ground reality does not support. These buses have scrapped because the engines have run the max, (approx10lakh KM), The engine is powerless. Moreover, the services you have mentioned are essential services like milk trucks, dump trucks etc. If a single breakdown anywhere in between service will cost a lot. Buses whose engine had run the maximum Kilometers as prescribed by the makers (for eg:-10lakh Kilometers) such buses will be scrapped as "Non-Runner scraps". But some buses whose engine is still in running conditions and for various reasons, say engine less efficient, maintenance cost etc, such buses are scrapped as "Runner Scraps".
