I had one too, the missile instantly disappeared never to be seen again, as did the little man from my James Bond Aston Martin. Luckily I am a lot better at finding things these days😁
Even at 48, I have an overwhelming sense of excitement just like I did as a kid because I instantly realise: "I Can put my Guinea-Pig in that!" (not a euphemism by the way) 😂🚀
Little known fact: as this was the actual size of the vehicle, they had to hire appropriately small actors to drive them. Ed Bishop was 9 inches tall in real life and still holds the world record for shortest American actor. Michael Billington was 10 inches tall and had to crouch in scenes next to Ed. Gerry Anderson used to put them in his blazer pocket and talk through the script with them. Straker's hair colour was originally the result of pocket lint.
Great model there (there's a podcast on the Gerry Anderson channel saying which kit the mobile tracks actually came from). Don't worry about the colour being 'wrong'. I had a Dinky toys Thunderbird 2 which was blue and an Eagle which was green!. Skydiver next?.
the tank tracks are from the toy tank "Tiger Joe Tank" from the 1960s I only found out much later that Martin Bower had taken a metallic blue from Ford for the Shadow Mobile
Brilliant work! If you want to make things look more realistic, increase the frame rate in your camera (if possible). There is a formula for the frame rate increase and it depends on the scale of the model. It's noted somewhere on the net but I am too tired to look for it.
We have stopped using caterpillar track on tanks as the track belt is easy to damaged thus the immobilizing the tank. They now use trackor style off road wheels.
Love to know if any of the other sets a shado models and outfits survive today I know many of the real buildings used are no longer around but some survive it could be interesting to see if any odd locations are still there or use in TV today know some do but other are a mystery? And that inner base beneath the movie stage and studios was probably reused in Space 1999 as Apha base and thought cars just like to know are they still around?
Hi James, some props from UFO did survive a while. The silver curved section with holes in it that formed part of Gay Ellis moon base desk console popped up as part of the BOSS computer in the Dr Who story The Green Death. A UFO spacesuit appeared in a 1970's Tomorrow People story - The Doomsday Men. I think UK DJ Dave Lee Travis owned one of the cars from UFO and I'm certain that at least one original interceptor miniature survives in a private collection. The UFO sets weren't reused in Space 1999 which had new original sets built for it. I think Neptune House was where Straker would pull up in his car, its part of the BBC studios now.
@@CaptainNemo1701 know about the last part it is odd that Shado would become a part of the BBC interesting that bit? There's probably some other little bits on the sets now used on a Eastenders or other TV series today not realising their there in some small way? Just wondering did White City ever used in any episode where the old BBC television centre was originally know a few episodes of the original Doctor Who was made?

The Dinky toys were blue, just like dinky made the space 1999 eagle transporters green, how the original miniatures were grey. Jamie Anderson confirmed this as he used to play with them.
@@anoopsahal1202 I couldn't understand why they did it I was annoyed as a kid, same as the eagle transporters were blue and green, I have a couple to refurbish and am tempted to paint them White as they should be.

@@Sandstalker222 It may be worth looking up tilt shift lenses. You can use a tilt shift lens to control perspective.

By memory, I thought they were silver/ grey.
The models were painted a metallic blue, but when surrounded by green foliage and trees, they appear mostly green / brown.
