- In my playthrough of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, me and my co-host Raisins analyzed all the units in it. I've gone through this game numerous times while Raisins has only played half of it, so we give rather different perspectives on each unit. This playthrough was on Negative Growths, so whenever a character would level up they would lose stats rather than gain them, however each unit is discussed with both positive and negative growths in mind.
I've compiled all these analyses into one video, enjoy!

Leif is about as okay-ish as you'd expect from a Grass type starter.

Oh cool, it’s the compilation of analyzations from the negative growth playthrough. Half of them are pretty much “they’re good but this character is better” which ironically for this playthrough meant they were good
I literally started fe5 yesterday and it's made me so happy seeing content still coming out about it, we waited SO long for a translation patch that I fell out of love with fire emblem (awakening is the most recent one I've played), thanks man
I have tried and failed to get through Thracia 3 times. I tried playing it fully blind and then softlocked myself in Manster, then on attempt 2 on a “spoiler-lite” playthrough got frustrated trying to recruit Xavier (which in retrospect I should have just not bothered with). By attempt 3 my opinion had soured enough that I just never had any fun and it felt like I was forcing it. One day I still want to beat the game, since it’s the only FE I haven’t finished at this point, but I just can’t ever seem to get into it.
Having said that, the game does have a lot of things that I respect and find interesting. The capture mechanic is very cool, and the sheer brokenness of staves is a nice contrast from most games not named Shadow Dragon, and on the topic of individual units, Wrath Nanna is super fun

I don't know. If you enjoy 2x speed more just do 2x speed.
i watched a video on this and apparently it doesnt make a difference, the amount of time you watched is not altered so technically watching at 2x speed and watching the video twice is better than 1x speed once lol

I always use Machua, and she's never turned out badly for me. PCM of 3 works well enough. She's not busted like Mareeta legitimately is, but I just toss Nal and Hodr on her. 1 or 2 points in her Build is a Killer Axe user without speed loss or only 1 speed loss, and considering the stat squish, most enemies won't be a problem, they'll basically all be doubled. The alternative to this is just using a body ring, but I think you only get like, ONE of those without the secret shop. The Master Sword/Axe are nice to have, but Machyua reliably maxes her speed and skill, toss Njorun on her if she needs a few more points of strength, use the body ring if you want. I'd say getting 2 Build OR using the body ring is more than enough to make Machuya so effective that she can reliably just not have problems at all.
On my last playthrough though, she gained TWO Movement points. Like O_o wut
I like to capture basically everything and sell what they have if I'm not gonna use it, so I reliably have more gold than I'm ever going to use, and can afford to just stock up on killer weapons. So with a PCM of 3, and as, typically, my only reliable axe user nearing endgame, Machua does great. Could she be better? Well, sure! But most Thracia 776 characters have trash bases and worse growths, bad enough that scrolls won't keep them usable. She's one of the best uses of the early Hodr scroll. She just really doesn't need much investment to be good, but she can certainly get help. I use Mareeta, Shiva, AND Machua, as a tip of the spear group, actually seeking combat as opposed to avoid it as is the meta, and it really is a blast making it work. Then you can use cavalry/flying to be capture bots.
Also, being first Female Hero in the series is great. :3

I'm on chapter 23 of my first playthrough. Imo FE5 is cruel and unusual punishment

I genuinely don't get why people think olwen is way worse, despite being more fun and having time to train to be on par with illios
Oh nice I just finished it on Paragon mode. I do like a few characters some fans dislike such as Nanna and Mareeta. I haven’t gotten enough hang of it that I can raise Homer well but I usually raise Safy, Tina, Salem, Linoan, and Sara to A staves. Asbel tends to drop off for me by Chapter 24.
I suspect Leif gets the worst promotion I have seen for lords.
I did the A route so I got Sleuf and Amalda. I made sure to kill Conomor in 16A so he doesn’t bring leadership stars in Chapter 19. I heard Miranda is underwhelming. Conomor may be good with his leadership stars but I like how Amalda has staves.
I could never manage to get Xavier it drove me insane and I gave up. I put all the enemies to sleep but the villagers keep running away.
I chose Ced over Saias but it was very disappointing I couldn’t recruit both! 😢
One piece of feedback I am glad you show the stats. Many of your viewers will be people who are more green so something like a S to C tier or star rating makes it easier on newer players. Not everyone can take in all the details so a rating would be easy on many viewers.

@Mekkah I challenge you to beat Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn with only the characters you are forced to bring in the tower (Micaiah, Sothe, Ike, Sanaki, Kurth, Ena, and one heron). I just beat this challenge myself and it was very difficult. Reminded me of your Byleth solo challenge.
Rules:
1) only the characters listed can attack. Other characters can do everything else but attack except for healers, they cannot use staves nor attack. These characters can be attacked but as long as they don't attack back, it is okay. Laguz are especially difficult with this because even not transformed, they will punch or kick back.
2) no forging weapons
3) you can recruit whoever you would like and deploy whatever units you want to.
4) units can die but the goal is to keep alive the max number of units you can while also abiding by the rules. Myself, I had 12 die. I did not recruit Pelleas or Lehran.
5) In the tower, you can recruit whomever you would like but only the 7 units who initially entered the tower can be deployed.
6) In chapters where none of the 7 are available, play the chapter however you would like. ex: part 2 . also if you choose to use reyson as your heron for the tower, you cannot use rafiel or leanne anywhere throughout the game to gladar and vice versa between all of the herons.
7) skills can be taken off and assigned to anyone you would like and any supports between characters are okay.
8) BXP and stat boosters are allowed to be used; however, another part of the challenge is to try and use the bare minimum to keep the challenge interesting. I used 2 stat boosters myself but could have gotten by with just 1.
9) you can collect hidden items in the ground and sell whatever items you would like.
10) I played this challenge on the dolphin emulator so any features of a standard emulator are okay to use (ex: quick load/ save) however NO CHEATS are allowed. If you want to use cheats to figure out the best way to complete a level, that is frowned upon but okay but the final save data must not have had any cheats during gameplay!
