I always say if you want to be able to automatically hear how talented VP is, watch this one and then immediately watch the live version that they recorded after a show, just sitting at a table. It sounds exactly the same. It's also the reason this arrangement isn't the most complicated because they performed this version live in their shows all the time. Geoff also has a short on his channel of him doing this song just a piano in his living room.
Okay so now you need to do Geoff’s Headless Horseman and Monster Mash and VP’s This is Halloween and Hide and Seek…you will be unalived with immediate effect.
Watch the version they recorded live backstage after a concert. No make-up so you can clearly see everyone, including Tony, Earl, and short-haired Geoff. The singing quality is just as good as a studio version. They're the real deal.
I'd love to see a double reaction to Voiceplay and the Bass Gang - they both performed Hide and Seek featuring Lauren Paley (both groups released the same song with the same featured artist within a month of each other. It's fun listening to two very different versions of the song. Voiceplays cover also has Elizabeth Zharoff (the Charismatic Voice) singing in the background as the ghosts.
I really love the crisp percussion in this, as well as the creativity. Their songs are always terrific but they really do go all out for Halloween. Great reaction!!
This song is sung by busts in the cemetery scene at the end of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris (where it is known as the Phantom Manor), and Disneyland Tokyo. Geoff is also portraying their take on the Mansion's Ghost Host, giving instructions to the patrons at various points.
Well, maybe it's not the most elaborate arrangement, but I love the fact that they also released a short video of them just singing this in a hotel room, and they still make it sound good! Always torn when I see Earl, he is so obviously having a great time, and there was such comaraderie among them, it just makes it even more sad that they have seem to have completely cut ties with each other after being friends for decades.
Voiceplay also did a live version of this not long after this after a concert in Pennsylvania. They were tired and exhausted but the gentleman they are did it anyway. Just type in this and live. I think it's under their live tab but don't quote me 😉
So glad you enjoyed this one DJ, loving the contacts too! Great choice Aaron/Doogs, so glad he got to see this one! Shame he had to see Geoff looking like that but there are some great palette cleanser pictures available I'm sure! :P Great reaction DJ! Glad to see you enjoying Spooky Season!
This is such a classic. It was recorded way back in 2012, right after the group changed their name to VoicePlay. As for costumes, my husband wants to do a couple's theme this year. He originally wanted Addams Family but didn't want to shave his beard. With his long hair, he looks like Cullen from "Hell On Wheels," a show he loves, plus he's been really into Westworld, Red Dead Redemption, and he just discovered Clint Eastwood movies. Meanwhile, I have a dress for Oregon Trail reenactments that people say kinda looks like Dolores from Westworld. (Similar light blue, that's all.) So we're going for a Wild West couple's theme. I even bought him a pocketwatch and old-fashion vest for our anniversary earlier this month.
As well as I know VoicePlay it is quite difficult recognising them in this one. Brilliant characterisation. And Geoff's spooky laugh! I don't do Halloween, being British, but in Second Life my avatar has a variety of witches to call on and also a spooky zombie appearance.
@@dj_410 I can just see (heh) you forgetting you have them in and walk down the street, terrorizing some kid. Because that would SO happen if I wore them!
Great reaction! I hope before the season ends you’ll do their Once Upon a Dream. Not usually spooky, but it was their first really theatrical video, and they went all out. Last year in their auction I won The Maleficent woods costume from Pattycake’s Michaeleficent Unexpected Musical. Tony made it from a beautiful dark velvet material with fur trim. I still can’t believe that quality for less than a minute in the video. Couldn’t wear it last year (Covid), but this year I will!
Michaeleficent is my favorite of their Unexpected Musicals. I remember your comment from before and I always watch for your gown. It is amazing that it was in that video for such a short amount of time and all that care went into it. Have a great Halloween wearing it!
This is from The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney. They are the statuary that are in the entrance. That is why Geoff say "Pleas move to the DEAD center of the room.". (The room is in fact an elevator.). The characters from Ding Dong are also from this ride, where Eli's character portrait, which lengthens as the room descends, revealing the Barons boxer shorts.
Well-done reaction again, DJ. Always good. In Canada, for me dressing up won't happen as I have no where to go, so I'll just dress comfy & warm for the weather. (boring I know)
So happy you are wearing contact lenses! I was going to inquiry about your health!! I absolutely love this. This is the "theme song" from the "Haunted Mansion" at Disney Land and Disney World.
The fact that so many reactors refer to The Haunted Mansion as a movie, and not as one of Disney's most popular rides, makes me feel old. Although that may be because Disneyland/world is so dang expensive now, no one can afford to GO on that ride, unless they win the lottery...
This was one of my first ever VP songs so it holds a special place in my heart. So glad you enjoyed it and understood why it is so loved. Not sure what you have done with your eyes today (other than the contacts... we think it is eyeliner) but please continue as that look suits you! Loving your dive into spooky season #DJsHerd #10kbyHalloween
You are my new favorite reaction channel!!! After watching your entire VoicePlay playlist, and some of your Home Free reactions, I immediately subscribed.
This was my first VoicePlay video. It showed up on one of my social media feeds many years ago and I immediately subscribed to their channel and watched all their videos. I don't know about a movie, but the song is part of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. The instruction to move to the "dead" center if the room is because that room is a large elevator that takes you down to the basement. Or at least thats what I remember from when I did it 40-45 years ago as a kid.
I was told by someone who stated that she work for Disney (although I didn’t confirm it) that the “elevator” doesn’t move. The ceiling actually goes up. I haven’t been back to Disney to check but in a way it makes sense because it wouldn’t cost very much to raise the ceiling but it would be pretty expensive engineering to have that many people in an elevator! If that is accurate, I just find it really trippy.
I wasn't aware that "The Haunted Mansion" was a movie, but I know it from visiting it at Disneyland when I was a kid. VoicePlay also did a cover of "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room".
Dj, glad to hear your voice more back to normal. Wonderful reaction as always! As mentioned by others, this song originally comes from the Disney Haunted Mansion rides. I have loved this song since 1973 (my first trip to Disney).
Great reaction to Voice Play as always DJ. Please do a reaction to to Voice Plays cover of Once Upon A Dream. Don't stop the video & keep your eyes on the screen so you don't miss what's going on. It is hauntingly beautiful.
have to reacted to voiceplay's "this is halloween" or "oogie boogie song"? also i am dressing up for halloween i'm dressing up as a witch, me and my husband are going to be taking the kids trick or treating then when we come home we will be watching halloween movies
The Haunted Mansion movie is bleh. This was modeled after the RIDE. :) I think this video is interesting in that we see what Eli might look like hair. :)
Great Video Dylan and I’m going to be dressing up as Max’s Girlfriend From A Goofy Movie Roxanne And The Best Part I Can Wear My Costume Where I Work They’re Cool Like That Have a Wonderful Day and can’t wait for your next video Take Care Dylan 😊

I recommend all these! But especially Monster Mash and Hide and Seek.
Agreed on all of these
Such a classic! And you identified them correctly. lol. Eli with hair throws everyone at first, but the voices are unmistakable.

Southern Earl killed me! 🤣🤣🤣

LOL. I guess I’m not the only one who enjoys Randy Rainbow-I see one of his vids in your recommendations.
This is one of my favorites. BTW. The busts aren't from a movie. They are originally from the Haunted mansion ride at Disney. The movie came after.
So glad you enjoyed this one DJ, loving the contacts too!

I'm going as a Voiceplaya for Halloween!
Love this. I'm sure someone has already commented that this is from the Haunted Mansion the ride at Disneyland and Disney World.
I always dress up for Halloween! This year, my daughter wanted to do a steampunk theme, so we're both putting together steampunk outfits. Fun times!
Next you should give a reaction video to VoicePlay's cover of "This Is Halloween" from "The Nightmare Before Christmas". You'll have kittens!
As well as I know VoicePlay it is quite difficult recognising them in this one. Brilliant characterisation. And Geoff's spooky laugh! I don't do Halloween, being British, but in Second Life my avatar has a variety of witches to call on and also a spooky zombie appearance.
It's funny, because Eli actually has facial hair like that now! And those contacts are fab! Are they uncomfortable at all?
Only when I 1st put them in haha after a few minutes I forget they are in :)
@@dj_410 I can just see (heh) you forgetting you have them in and walk down the street, terrorizing some kid. Because that would SO happen if I wore them!

I think its cause in Aussie and Disneyland has always been nothing but a distant dream for me haha
@@dj_410 Hey, who knows? Maybe someday they'll expand to Oz!
2:32 The busts are in this order:
1. Layne Stein
2.Earl Elkins Jr.
3.Geoff Castellucci
4.Eli Jacobson
5. The last singer is unknown to me
It's Tony Wakim, who was their baritone before J. None.

You are my new favorite reaction channel!!!
After watching your entire VoicePlay playlist, and some of your Home Free reactions, I immediately subscribed.
Very fun reaction! Loved that you enjoyed it! I’ll be a clown because I’m working that night 😂
Working too, I'm hoping to bake cookies to bring in.
Geoff worked in The Haunted Mansion ride as the Caretaker if i am not wrong which he reprised here.
Your contacts are amazing! I'm going to dress for Halloween as myself. I figure that's scary enough for anyone.
❤❤❤❤😊😊 great reaction. I will be working this year for Halloween
I hope you enjoy this song as much as I did the first time I heard it.
Incredible effects from every member of Voiceplay.

Makes me miss my Disney days!!! One of my favorite attraction!!❤
Also, if you haven't had the pleasure give Geoff Castellucci - The Headless Horseman"
Love today's eyes. Took me awhile to figure out who was who, too. And I think you did a pretty good Southern accent. You go!
DJ_410: "Try saying that ten times fast"
Me: That that that that that that that that that that.
I really prefer the one they did live when they were on tour 10 years ago.
You should really check out Hide and Seek covered by VoicePlay
I wasn't aware that "The Haunted Mansion" was a movie, but I know it from visiting it at Disneyland when I was a kid. VoicePlay also did a cover of "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room".
LOVED this. FYI: Marwan did this last year. 😉
For the algorithm: BOO! 👻
Since you asked, I’ll be dressing as Soos from Gravity Falls.
Dj, glad to hear your voice more back to normal. Wonderful reaction as always!
As mentioned by others, this song originally comes from the Disney Haunted Mansion rides. I have loved this song since 1973 (my first trip to Disney).

Thanks 😊
Great reaction! Sure brings the ride back, been so long since we went. I like to listen to this one and the live one they did too!
If your doing Halloween type songs you might want to check out "Disney Halloween Mashup" by Paint feat. Voctave. It's super good.
Please tell me someone has suggested VoicePlay Once Upon a Dream
It is Geoff.

The live version is also not bad, in case you wanna hear what they can do without audio polishing ;)
Please, react to Marwan's version of this song. It is amazing!
Hopefully you can get to Voctave's Poor Unfortunate Souls/ I Put A Spell On You ft. the sensational Rachel Potter before Halloween.
That' a great one!!

The Haunted Mansion movie is bleh. This was modeled after the RIDE. :)
