Have an S3 for over a year now, best thing I bought in 2020. Wife bought an X3 last summer so she wasn’t feeling left out. There’s a lot of chat online about customer service and reliability but it’s been okay for us. I had a gear issue, they sent me a new rear wheel within a week or so, which I swapped out myself and problem fixed. The X3 has been fine. I reckon the earlier batches were a bit more fragile. Also, not that I’d condone it of course, it’s not difficult to change the region to US, where 32 kmh is the speed limit.
Have the S3 Light over a year now. I’m an avid cyclist with a number of bikes, road, gravel & the S3. To be honest I don’t use it as much as I should but I use it to do town shopping carrying groceries home. Constantly being stopped by people asking about it. I live up a 5km climb and it just flattens the hills with ease. It’s also such a fun bike to ride. Constant smiles. Great review yet again, Derek.
I bought an S3 in October 2020 and unfortunately it has been back to Amsterdam from Ireland twice for repairs, arrived with broken gears which took a number of months to finally resolve. The battery then failed in June 2021 (apparently you shouldnt fully empty the battery?) I do like riding the bike and love the speed and technology but have no confidence in its reliabilty and wont buy a Van Moof again, maybe get a Modmo in a few years. Enjoying the channel and the mix of different reviews, keep the good work going.
Thanks for the comment Owen. Sorry to hear of your experience with your Vanmoof. The Modmo I reviewed was very good but it's different to living with an e-bike long term
Thanks for the comment but unfortunately the company was declared bankrupt today.. Do not buy one as I am not sure how they will support customers moving forward
You're not making me like them any less! 🙂 Great looking bike and will continue my quest to own one at some stage. Though a shed to store one might have to be bought first!
Reise and Muller bikes are like the Rolls Royce of ebikes in my opinion... but the aesthetics of this bike beat them by a mile for simplicity/elegance and price too.
Derek. I'm still on the road bike for the moment. I like the speed readout on this bike. Nice video. Regarding you use of animals in the videos.......Get the plover to talk to the dog if he wants to be a regular in the videos 🤣
Such a nice looking electric bike. How did you manage to get it for review. Would love to test it myself 😜 Great video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts ☺️
So, would you choose this over the Modmo Saigon? With all the tech packed into them which would have the best reliability and after sales backup I wonder.
I'm 6ft tall but I like a more upright riding position. Do you you think the X3 would be better as I prefer the looks of it. I have have UK size 12 feet size too
I think the S3 would suit you better. Best to try and get a test drive for both or they do offer a money back guarantee for 14 days I think. They have pop up shops located around.
Great review as always, I am a beginner, and the cost of this bike is slightly putting me off knowing the theft issues here, is there a cheaper model in the e biking models that's a single-speed/Automatic transmission E-bike that's light and offers decent range? Thanks
I love the look of the bike. But iv seen there poor score on trustpilot and most of the users are staying they have and are having problems with there S3 and X3 bikes plus there very recent reviews too. I don't want to send £2K and find out my bike is unreliable and customer service is poor.
Are these bikes good and reliable? Is the bike easily repairable too as my only bike shop is Halfords but don't know of they will help and service the bike if something goes wrong. Please advise. Great video too by the way. Great investment for the future.
Thanks for the comment and question. Most good quality e-bike will come with a warranty on the bike and battery. In Ireland there is only 1 service center/bike shop dealing with repairs. Anything technical would need to be sent back to Vanmoof directly I'd imagine. I'd say Halfords wouldn't touch it. They do some good e-bikes too I'm told
Hi Derek, thanks for the great video. Just wondering do you have any recommendations for a very affordable ebike? I don’t wish to exceed the 1,500euro set by the Bike to Work scheme. I would like an ebike for regular long distance city commuting, up to 30km return. Thanks, Meabh
Thanks for the comment and feedback Galaxy Muv. I placed the lavaliere mic way too close to my throat so apologies. I've tried to keep an eye on where I place it since this video as I know it is very distracting.

Thanks for the comment Shane. "A number of bikes".....oh to be that lucky. The VanMoof is definitely one to put a smile on your face
Very much satisfied with the product .
Thanks for the comment Stephen. Glad you're enjoying it
We love you, Derek❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Roman for the comment 🙂

Nice! definitely looks better in black.
Agree! Thanks for the comment Brian

Thanks for the comment Jan-Bart. In fairness it is a good one

Any chance of a review of the S5 ?👍
Already sent the email to review it. I'm told I'm on the list
Derek. I'm still on the road bike for the moment.
I like the speed readout on this bike.
Nice video.

Cheers Des. The LED matrix is cool but not as good on the lighter colour. I need someone to look after all these animal extras!

Thanks Dariusz. Email gone your way 🙂

Great question. Both great e-bikes. It would be down to personal preference. Modmo still scaling where as Vanmoof is going full steam.

Nice! You should do Reise and Muller next!! Then maybe some sub 2000 ebikes for the cycle to work scheme people and the poor among us :)
Thanks for the comment and Done! th-cam.com/video/u60e350gLdQ/w-d-xo.html
Next e-bike will have a retail of €1,599 and one after that is €2,099
Awesome, great work as always and cheers for the link :)

More affordable e-bikes coming to the channel soon
Any plan to review the S5?
Thanks for the question David. I've requested to review it for 6 months already but no joy yet...😔
@@NevoEVReviewIreland I won one in London and it arrived today. Pretty fun so far!

The beauty of TrustPilot. Have you had a look at the e-bikes in Halfords?
@@NevoEVReviewIreland I have yes. Do you personally think they are reliable and good bikes tho?
Does it self charge as you cycle along?
Great question but unfortunately it does not. Brake regeneration is not too common in e-bikes

Thanks for the comment Meabh.
I'm definitely going to do more affordable e-bike reviews. My next one will be priced at €1599.
Thanks Derek.
Finally !
Sorry for keeping you waiting Steve
The sound when you swallowing is so annoying… couldn’t even watch it all
