  • I attempted an ultra run/hike of the Foothills Trail.
The Foothills Trail is a 77 mile long distance trail that starts at Table Rock State Park, SC and ends in Oconee State Park, SC.
Many thanks to all who helped me along this journey.
Many thanks to all the volunteers and organizations that work diligently to maintain our trails.
Video on reflections and more details coming soon…

"I complained and suddenly we're going downhill...it worked!" - haha I'll have to remember that for my own future hikes. I love to see those amazing fall colors and your thought process through it all! I am so impressed by you; both doing 50+ miles in a day, and knowing when to let yourself rest!

That was awesome. You will kill it on your AT thru hike this year because you have exactly the attitude you need. Sometimes you do 30+ mile days on the AT. Sometimes it’s 30 degree rain and mud and you work twice as hard for half the distance. You will nail it.

April and I are thru-hiking the Foothills Trail next month. I found your video by searching for "How to get to the trailhead" or something like that. Very cool. We watched your Kyle Hates Hiking interview this morning. Hope you are well!

Hiking carries many objectives and influences which creates the personal adventure. Safety and caution are premier attributes of a smart hiker. You did well. Favor follows you!

Well I'm impressed! That was great!
I like to carry the small clementine oranges for a quick recovery after a hard climb... and the small ones too.
Leaves falling = the forest cheering you on!
and #mountsassy I'll be using that one.

Holy freakin crap!! MAD props from someone who has spent countless hours on the Foothills Trail!! We’ve only section hiked it so far, and I found you cuz I typed in Trail Running Foothills Trail. Have you tried the Art Loeb trail? It’s like the Foothills, crammed into 33 miles. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around covering this as a trail run!!! Very inspiring, to say the least!!!

LOL, I’m just now watching your announcement video, where you said that you’ve done the Art Loeb 3 times!

Such a beautiful trail! Nice job out there. Feeling nauseuous can def be devastating while expending so much energy - I have to switch to 100% liquid calories and gummy bears :)

Knowing when to stop has to be the most pivotal thing, Definitely made the right call. tbh I think the adrenaline spike at the bear and the harder push to sassafras was the clincher, But I'm stoked you accomplished what you did, I think it went really well especially considering it was your first try at 77! Not sure if meal replacement shakes would help replace the nutrients lost as well. either way fantastic results.

Thank you!! It was a huge learning experience. And yes, meals need workshopping. Liquid intake is crucial for next time.

I think I passed you coming down from chimney top. I was coming back up. I had a lab with neon orange harness. But it’s been a while. Pretty sure it was you. And now that I heard you say make a wish signs, I know it wa the same day.

😡😡😡 I hate it when I'm at work and get a YT notification that @appalachianaventurista has a new post. Now I have to wait to the end of my 12 hour shift to go home and watch it!
