"I don't know what's happening anymore.... Universal War." That's a great tag line for this line of toys.
Phelan just never stopped being the guy who shouts at his toys by himself, huh?
Good, good.
That generic alien looks a LOT like Crypto from the Destroy All Humans games, especially the teeth and outfit. I get the feeling that's where they got his design from
It actually looks like a mold from a cancelled Destroy All Humans action figure line they got a hold of
Ive seen it called Bob the Alien Warrior before.
I love Destroy All Humans
God damn it I was gonna say the same exact thing
Holy smokes I am glad I am not the only one that noticed that.
This war is getting weirder and weirder all the time.
I'mma bet these must've come from Tatooine.
After all, selling bootlegs would probably be in the style of that wretched hive of scum and villainy that is Mos Esley.
These bootlegs keep getting getting more ‘creative’ 😂
I just picture the Roswell Incident being the starting gun to the Universal War Conflict
You found the stunt doubles from Space Balls!
Yee!
You are having so much fun with playing with those gun swords, Phelan.
"A long time ago in a bootleg Zone far far away.... Phelous shows off some bizarre figures from the Universal War. Unaware, that the Galaxy Warrior Empire are closing in."
To quote RWBY
"It's also a gun!"
4:57 I didn’t know that The Empire also recruited The Shredder! Apparently he’s already got the ooze mutated into him due to the green eyes.
Star Wars is already such a vast universe and franchise. This bootleg set is very whacky. I love Bootleg Zones! You and Allison always find such wonderful gems! It’s clear that you two love each other very much! Your channel always makes me smile!
I'm starting to think these were unintentionally made as Destroy All Humans figures before the company decided to mold them with Star Wars.
I searched for this set a few years back. Found it at a flea market. Never have taken it off card.
Phelous has a Star Wars induced breakdown: the video.
5:25 Keeping it straight instead of bent implies these guys have pretty good trigger discipline.
I'm sure that's what they were going for.
In a way, Star Wars is a bit of a Universal War.
When the fusion dance goes wrong
It's like the Tatooine aliens had a costume contest at the cantina.
3:04 - "I'm just (sword) fighting with myself"
Huh, this Billy Idol cover got weird, didn't it?
These vids are always timeless...Thanks for making the world a better place Phelan!
It’s Dark Helmet! 😮
Universal Hero's Spiderman is 50% strawberry
Damn. It'd be worth to have this bootleg to finally get a figure of Crypto from "Destroy All Humans!", since official action figures aren't a thing (the only thing are the preorder bonus statues you get with the remakes). I'm gonna guess they somehow got ahold of the molds for the canceled action figures they were going to make, since these are way too accurate to the character to just be the work of cheap bootleggers.
That grey alien head mold would be great for making a custom Cryptosporidium-137 toy.
George Lucas: Actually, in my original vision, all the human characters were grey aliens. The effects just couldn’t handle it at the time. And then I saw how people reacted to seeing Greedo shoot first, and I was just like, “Nope, I like being alive, thank you very much!”
These figures are just Crypto from Destroy All Humans cosplaying as different Star Wars characters
To be fair, they didn't play the official Star Wars music in the Star Wars toy commercials, when I was a kid back in the 70's and 80's.
I'm old.
Fun fact from one bootleg collector to another. The generic grey alien is actually Crypto from the destroy all humans franchise. I own several of the unmodified versions of the bootleg figure that more accurately portray him. As far as I can tell it’s an original mold they made based on the property illegally as I’ve found no official action figure that matches it. Or an official action figure of crypto at all. He has a plush or two and some figurines and statues but no action figure
That sword in black really does look like it came straight out of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance compared to the green one.
I got a single pack of the grey alien, a knock off of Crypto from Destroy All Humans. It's not bad for what it is.
If I squint the stormtrooper kinda looks like Lando's copilot in the Millenium Falcon during the battle against the 2nd Death Star.
Nien Nunb?
Star Wars is already a vast franchise and universe! This is a very whacky bootleg set indeed! I love Bootleg zones so much. You and Allison find so many wonderful gems! It’s clear you two love each other! Your channel always makes me smile!
Great episode! Funny and always original 😂
Keep rocking bro 🤟😝
I would unironically love to have the gray alien wearing Spider-Man's costume. The knock-off artist even made him sparkle!
I swear I remember owning a bigger version of that Darth Vader at one point, it looked no different other than the one in the video but it was an individual figure in a different styled packaging
A while ago, In a universe some distance from this one...
Between the wrinkly face and the helmet design, the ""Boba Fett"" one almost looks more like Havik's original design in Mortal Kombat Deception than Boba. Considering those two are pretty far apart from a design perspective, that goes to show just how badly these knockoffs failed at what they set out to do.
Might as well go all-in; paint the generic, un-themed grey alien yellow, tape some pipe cleaners to its back and call it D'Vorah.
Hey, that green alien you're calling "un-themed" is named Crypto and it's from a game called "Destroy All Humans!", thank you very much.
@@Dreadjaws Yeah, it does kind of look like Crypto - especially the way he's rendered in the recent remakes. But then again, the Furons in Destroy All Humans are based on classic "Gray Aliens" which go back in folklore to around 1961, where someone claiming to have been abducted by aliens described them as such, since which, the aesthetic has become commonplace among most conspiracy theorists who believe aliens to have visited Earth.
Since falling into the popular zeitgeist, "Gray Aliens" have also appeared in numerous works of fiction, not just limited to Destroy All Humans, including but not limited to The X-Files and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, as well as frequent appearances on South Park and even a cameo in an earlier Futurama episode.
I think at this point, I think Star Wars and Star Trek are probably about the only two space franchises _not_ to have included the classic alien design at some point.
@@furonguy42 It doesn't "kind of" look like Crypto. It has the exact same face, clothing and gun. It most definitely is him.
Phelous doing the Universal pictures theme was pretty... something.
Wow that Ninja Storm gun blade got knocked off a lot.
I love your reviews in general, but that ending was perfect, taking the piss out of the Disney+ shows, and how little sense they make continuity-wise.
I feel the grey aka a Sectoid here was based on the XCOM Enemy Unknown aliens, so... we can consider this a sort of XCOM-SW crossover. Maybe some Sectoids saw Star Wars and decided to cosplay as their favourite character. The unmaskes one wanted to go as the Emperor, hence the grey wrinkled head, but he could not find a cloak. :P
I got a set of these same figures about 10 years ago, without the sword.
0:00 YES!
"Well Too Bad!"
I said Yes!
Old Man: "Wabuu."
Wabuu: "WHAT?!"
Old Man: "You're needed at Phelous' house."
Wabuu: "KNOCK NEXT TIME!"
Old Man: "Yes, Sir."
Wabuu: "Did you see anything?"
Old Man: "No, Wabuu. I didn't see you playing with your Universal War dolls again!"
Your suspiciously specific denial is sooooooooooooooo stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid
I could be crazy but I'm pretty sure that sword-gun is a bootleg of a Super Sentai toy.
Marth Gayder, Boobah foot, Social credit trooper and Frank.
*The following is the opinion of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the SPOOKY SEAGULL:] "You know those Universal Wars figures would make for great Grey Aliens wearing their kind's confused interpretation of Star Wars-themed Halloween costumes! Just thinking of a way to tie them to the Halloween season!"
10:32 would've felt even more accurate if the Boba knockoff threatened to sic a bodyguard on the enemy while he went back to the spa.
It is actually funny how Buzz Lightyear from the Pixar Toy story series is basically the high concept riff of knockoff Star Wars toys...
“I’m sword fighting with myself!”
…I don’t think that’s allowed on TH-cam.
It is if you're James Charles, Jeffree Star, Shane Dawson or a Paul brother.
Sword Fighting with Onesself sounds like a sexual Euphemism.
Fun fact. George Lucas initially pitched Star Wars to Universal Pictures as they previously distributed American Graffiti, but they turned it down.
Big mistake.
11:10 It was actually GREEN milk in TLJ.
A Nien Nunb trooper!
all of these folks are the same aliens as Roger from American Dad
Universal War, aka, Ready Player One.
XD
Disney may have won the battle in the nineties, but Universal won the war. Ba dum tssssh!
Why does the alien mold look like Crypto, the main guy from Destroy All Humans?
See's universal war bootlegs:
I got a bad feeling about this
The bootleg Darth Vader voice. (5:31, 7:14, 7:38, 9:43, 9:57, 11:19, 11:34, 11:50, 12:02)
First time viewers, if you think Phelous is playing these toys unironically, he is chad like that.
The trooper oddly enough looks like Nein Nunb
Crypto! Leave the saucer and probe that Sith Lord!
That Stormtrooper is looking more like Nien Nunb.
I remember getting a Alien figure when I was younger and I still have it somehow it's not broken
Maybe I was just stupid as a kid, but I would have loved those gun/sword toys.
Your videos really make me laugh 😅😊
The one who is actually an alien looks like the alien from the game destroy all humans.
that storm trooper looks like Nien Nunb
The Alien faces look just like Crypto from the Destroy All Humans! games.
There's just no escaping the sword gun, is there?
2:25 That's the apu.
They remind me of that weird Star war offramp or whatever it was called that I saw.
alright, alright, mr. sarcastic, when i said I'd give a point for weirdness for the gun thing on the other bootleg ep, i didn't know you had two of them ok lol. i still think it's pretty weird though, it looks like you can give the sheath to to your friend and they can have a gun and you can...bring a sword to a gunfight. :l ...
starwarios universal wars of Jedi. best sequel ever
This is worse than the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978 and that was so bad that Lucasfilm refused to rerelease it to the public
The short-sword is included for committing harakiri so the buyer won't have to live with the shame that they spent money on this garbage.
Maybe consider reviewing New Zealand old tv content? Idk it would be fun to see
That big head Alien was probably Cod Bane,… or at least supposed to lol
Where's his hat, then? But yeah, if we're being generous we could say the fourth figure was supposed to be Cad Bane or some random Duros.
@@kingalfred2014 yea true true lol
Am I the only one here who said yes to the question at the beginning? I mean, it's Bootleg Zones for jeez louise sake, I want my crazy bootlegs lol.
Universal War didn't "cheap" out with the paint on the sword gun. They are fighting a UNIVERSAL WAR they don't have the time for the nice little touches you seem so concerned about, you should be more considerate with the plight of the elite universal warriors.
Tbh Star Wars does take place in the universe, so Universal Wars makes more sense. we goth at least give credit where it's due.
Still better than Disney Star Wars 😏
Are these bootlegs of Crypto from Destroy all Humans!?
I would lean towards yes.
@@ExtremeWreck I know there's a few novelty items, but when did Crypto get action figures? Looks like I have some googling to do later...
@@StCerberusEngel The original Chinese manufacturers of this cheap & copied model probably made it themselves?
Hi phalous
I like the sword. But why put it in here.
Useless piece of information
I remember seeing a video by Ashens where he looks at a knock off Star Wars toyline called Galaxy Wars and it consisted of these exact figures but the Stormtrooper's helmet was a bit different
Still not worst than the actual Star Wars sequels... or prequels...
This is NOT the way
Eyy
Universal War. Not as good as the prequels, but much better than Disney-Wars.
Lol😅
XD
Hi 👋
0:30 is Phelous using the wrong fanfare on purpose, or did he really just confuse the Star Wars theme with the 20th Century Fox theme?
That was the Universal Studios theme.
@@nonapplicablepatron5565 yeah, I wasn't sure myself. I was going to write Universal, and then second-guessed myself.
Dark Vador : Fox, I am your alien father.
Mulder : Nooooo !
Dark Vador : Search in your heart, you’ll know the truth is out there !
I like how its only ripping into the films
The prequels are perfectly bad
And the sequels are sh*-!
I got that except the alien I saw them on your channel years ago and bought them
Eh, still better than Disney Star Wars.
Cry harder.
