  • I feelt a little bit of adrenalin during this final glide! But it was not so critical as looks... Fly safely and do some more turn in last thermal!

    I think there was no danger at all. It was just very close,I might land out before but this was very well done !!!
    Unfortunatly, we can´t say the same thing about other commpetitons in dangerous terrain like WGC 2004 (Norway) or those crazy final glides in JWC 2005 (UK)

    A precision perfect final glide calculation over several miles - Respect.

    That is the variometer. High beeps indicate rising air and low constant tones indicate sinking air. This is easier so you dont have to look at the instruments all the time when searching for thermals

    I think this was in a contest, and in a contest, landing out is a huge deduction to your points total. So, if you can make it back to the field, do all you can. Contests make people do things and fly more agressively than they normally would. Thats probably why he's proud of it.

    Not as critical as it looks! at one point he has to dodge over some trees!

      You can't really talk with regards to pulling up over trees ;)

    That's the longest finals I've ever seen. :-) how long was base leg :-)
    I thought you were going to land in the brown field ... and then you still carried on.

    In a way, he was to no danger to anyone. So, i could careless. It was a little irresponsible on his part, missing all those perfect fields, but, he still made it.

  • @tmtangomikefly
    @tmtangomikefly 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd say he had options all the way in, this was a lak17, do this in a nimbus and you will be starting much further out at the same altitude or lower, its why we are spending all these huge ammounts on flight directors. If you are not going to use them then save yourselves o lot of money and fly with a John Willy!!!!

    This guy has balls so big he carries them in a wheelbarrow.
    Try doing that in a K13!

  • @Mav1843

    Because he's the PIC of that aircraft according to part 91.103. And he's supposed to do what's best for the safe operation of that flight, no matter how stupid and irresponsible it was.

    are you approaching from south there? so that the hills at the horizon is the zobor?

  • @CharlieUniform
    @CharlieUniform 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes the comment at the end gives positive input why it is so low-slow final. Normally I would blast the gates doors with 180-200kph at 2m/s MC setting in quite similar Ls-8 ;-))))

    I cant figure out what you mean. Are you with Tom7c7c7 og do you think it was okay what he did? I think it was okay. Noone was in danger, and all fields were landable

    First class final glide with options to go for if it didn't work. ;) I tend to go for more turns in the thermal and play it safe.

    @Lumakaja Why would every pilot have to be confronted with a final glide like this? You can always choose to land out! Competition is nice but safety first, why'd he go all the way? Irresponsible behaviour..

  • @speer17al
    @speer17al 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    As I see it, he has alot of outlanding opportunities to land on field. all the way.

    This is a terrible video. Your final was way too long and low completely unnecessary risk. You barely cleared some power lines and trees. Why?
