I went to the Lansing Mall recently because I heard that the arcade from the picture was there. I looked everywhere and couldn't find it, until I found a place that had the same carpet pattern. I looked around, and I saw the door and the exit sign and the pillar from the image. Turns out it had been turned into a cool collectibles store, the arcade shut down late 2021. there is one thing that i like about this, not only is it nostalgic but it makes you feel adventurous. it shows multiple variety's of places on earth that most have never been to, it kinda reminds you how diverse and big the world is.
These pictures evoke a sense of extreme nostalgia I never thought even existed, because these all look very much similar to places I went to as a child. And I mainly grew up during the 2010s.

They feel so familiar, like a place your parents took you to when you were young a few times that you just faintly remember. The surroundings are recognizable but you have no clue where you are or how to get out.
Hot Rat I think it’s so unsettling because of how empty they are, we have seen all the images before but never empty. There is always someone or something there. Like a chair, a bench, a car. Seeing them completely blank and empty feels so wrong or scary. Some are even scary because there may be a lack of lights in places where light is supposed to be. I hate it but It just sucks you in. And It’s like if there was people literally anything else you’d be able to walk into it or near it and feel like you aren’t alone.
This feels like being the last kid in daycare, and your tired after playing outside with your friends and playing your king storyboard full of lore and your hungry, but you don’t care and it smells like summer and you don’t have a care in the world and everywhere was an adventure or a place to explore
The effect probably intensifies because there are no people in almost all of the pictures. Oh, and when a track from the caretaker started to play, I started crying, not because of sadness nor happyness, I don't know what it is.
Probably because of what the caretaker represents, maybe? The slow deterioration of the human mind, and how it goes until death with dementia? just, that anxiety? idk
Fun fact: Anemoia is the feeling of a nostalgia you never had! So if anyone gets that feeling from this vid and others, you now know what it's called! You're very welcome! :D
Sort of.. You're correct that nostalgia from things you haven't experienced is known as anemoia, but that's not the feeling we all get from that video. We get real nostalgia from what can only be described as dreams, or EARLY childhood memories, that just like dreams, only come to mind as glimpses.
This has really made me think about what my life has come to and it brings tears to my eyes when these images look so familiar and just reminds me of the good old days where nothing mattered and everything was just fun. Back before my life changed I though all this was normal but I look back on it and this almost describes my childhood even though I’m not even 13 yet…
I feel very happy watching these, i feel like i was meant to be there, i feel like im missing something everyday every time... its the opposite for me.
For 2000s kids this is so “ours” cause we where presented this plastic, esoteric, man made world, with a touch of utilitarian reductions, in shapes, spaces and architecture. Like the fake promise of a stolen brighter future, sold for only $10.99 ! Everything is colorful, but blatantly square. Emptiness reigns various rooms, there is always something missing when you create a world devoid of a soul. Perhaps we are the soul, quietly enjoying the aesthetics, waiting for it all to come to an end.
I just love liminal spaces so much they’re so interesting so little going on yet so much story and character not to mention the way they make me feel such a strange feeling maybe a mix of fear and comfort but sometimes it isn’t that it’s just a weird feeling i can’t explain
There's one forest path in my hometown. It is about six kilometers long, starting near my house and ending behind a lake. If you walk by it for long enough, especially in the autumn, it starts to feel VERY otherwordly. It's like going back in time to childhood when I used to walk that path every day to go swimming at the lake
Some of the photos kinda make me feel like I’m just a ghost wandering though my childhood memories and reminiscing the years when life was easier and I was always just a happy carefree child. Those years are over
The amount of times I had like tried to explain this odd feeling with pictures like these to my friends and then we go on a full ass 30 min+ convo about feeling the same thing yet still not being able to describe it is C r a z y!!
@@leobryant1011 I hope reincarnation exists and is eternal because I don't want to go to a Place and be stuck there forever like heaven or hell or just Lose my conscience and have my mind faded out of existence nothing dies forever everything is a Infinity loop I don't believe our "souls" die forever and we disappear from the real world I guess there's other worlds like ours that we used to live in or something idk reincarnation is a cool and way more comfortable subject than eternal death or Heaven and Hell
7:35 I've literally been too this place. Was really shocked to see it here. I still have some of that tire turf in my rock climbing bag (it just got everywhere). That was about 10 years ago.
because it feels like you own this calm world and some are relaxing and they have no bad intention behind and that's all i can't think of not anything else
i had these really specific and weird dream. i dreamed about these house with a sign that said FRANK'S. theres a family inside the house. they ask me to go inside. then i go inside it was bigger than the outside. i remember what they looked like. theres one kid with curly brown/orangey hair and a guy that seems to be his father. and the kid asked me if i can play with him. once he said it i switched into a weird game/dimension with me and a kid. and we played. i remember all of them but i cant explain/idk what did i witnessed. that dream happened to me frequently but with a diffrent event
@*。Tohru 。* I wish after life is like our own personal dream world where we can interact with stuff in our surroundings and even communicate with others and we can like vist other dream and hear distant music play everywhere
I grew up next to a playground that had this energy. It scared me but I would beg my mom to go everyday, there were no other kids and there was caution tape and graffiti on it but I still played there next to the broken glass and cigarettes, it's unnerving but calming in a way, a disturbing and wrong sorta home
Similar with my brother and I. There was a playground behind a nearby McDonalds that we would visit every day for almost five years straight. Always empty with vodka bottles and tobacco containers scattered around. But we spent nearly every afternoon there, playing pretend by ourselves or even just sitting on the swings and having long-ass conversations as the sun went down. It's a kind of desolate, but comfortingly familiar feeling. Like you can still go back to that place, but you can never go back to that time.
So, here is the physiology behind this :] These pictures are pictures of liminal spaces mixed in with noglista or weird /offputting objects. Those mixed together would make the dreamcore/weirdcore aesthetic. What are liminal spaces? Liminal spaces are places or works of art that have a feeling of loneliness. There's no main focus, and there's no one there. They aren't supposed to be noticed, and they are very uncanny. The backrooms are the most famous example of a liminal space probably. There are two types of liminal spaces. Emotional and physical. An emotional example is a divorce or the loss of a job. It's the disorientation between a ride of passage. A physical liminal space, to put it simply, is an unsettling transitional space. The so-called traumacore 'aesthetic' uses unsettling text next to the liminal space. Meaning it's used both the emotional and physical traits to make it scary. (TRUAMACORE IS NOT AN AESTHETIC, IT'S A WAY TO COPE WITH TRAUMA!!!) Our brains are hardwired to know the context. These pictures have no context whatsoever. When these places were made for something. And when they're not being put to use, they look uncanny and unsettling. For example, a school should have children in, so should a store. When it's abandoned, it looks disturbing. So if an airport that's abandoned, (could be in tact or not) It looks terrifying to you. Some liminal spaces include an empty parking lot, a house with all its furniture removed, an abandoned mall, a playground at night, an empty school, But an empty forest isn't familiar or strange because nature is typically abandoned. But when it's obviously artificial, you wonder why it's even there or why there's no one there. "That kind of stuff should be the background of a kid's show or something like that!" There's a word for this sort of stuff, it's called Kenopsia. Kenopsia is the eeriness of the place left behind. The lighting is heavily impacting these images. Unnatural lighting like fluorescent lights and street lamps. The void behind the images makes it even more unsettling. The artificial lighting is what makes it familiar. Some of the lightings is the same generated by an unprofessional's camera flash setting. Like cheap family-owned cameras. The familiarity also has a word, it's called Anemoia. The definition is " A nostalgia for a time you've never known. If they are similar to you, then you've probably been to a place that has the same items, or just similar in general. Maybe you've seen similar places from photos online as a kid. These places have a pattern, they're old. But not that old. If you were born between 90's-2000's these are probably familiar to you. Some examples and what they match up to: - An old mall, you've probably seen one like that on a show -The heavily edited and saturated unnatural backgrounds are like something you would see on a kids show -The empty rolling hills are like some default windows background. -Playgrounds, you've probably been to the following as a kid -slides -arcades -party rooms and so on and so on -maybe a sonic drive-through, - a gas station -images like the backrooms are probably empty storage rooms or offices It's very likely you guys are just unlocking memories you forgot until now. It doesn't have to be an exact copy, it just has the same atmosphere. They're familiar because it's the things that seemed unimportant to remember. Many of these photos are low quality that makes them even more nostalgic. The presentation also makes it matter. If these photos were in your regular feed, you'd probably scroll past them. But with the title, "Gateways that lead to an alternate reality" draws attention to the unsettling details. The music is important as well. Sometimes, they make the music noglistic as well as distorted. You might have heard something similar, for example, an 8-bit song that slowed down and 'ruined' to the point where it's unsettling. Or they distort the song too much, you can't even recognize it but it's still familiar. Now, weirdcore images. Weirdcore images usually include a lot of editing or there are unreasonable designs. The lack of context makes it unsettling. A weirdcore image would include stuff that might appear on r/crappydesigns if you really think about it, or it's just weird the way it was built. It's the offputting objects that make it creepy. Like a bunch of walls that have no purpose with windows that would have no use whatsoever. An office basement with very VERY little lighting, you would wonder why anyone would work there. Maybe that REALLY famous image of the indoor bath with the decaying walls and green-tined water with those REALLY weird pillars. You would wonder why anyone would even swim in there. Liminal spaces are more common than you think, you just have to search the right places. If you're looking to take dreamcore pictures, now is the perfect time since we're in the middle of a pandemic. So you just have to follow these rules (everything I mention above) to make your own. Happy dreaming everyone! Nick, OUT B)
guys, I hope I'm not the only one who feel a strong deja vu and a strange experience of humble desolation, as if I have already been in all these places, as if our reality is one big dream from which it is impossible to get out. It feels like you need to break another layer of reality to see the present.
yes.. i once had a dream a while ago that i can't tell if it waa reality or dream.. it was so.. such a deja vue.. makes me wanna cry bcs i wanna know the truth
@@lichypieruu9747 i had a dream where i was in a church. we were doing a play about how jesus was born or something, and i was mother mary. i had to become an angel and switch roles with someone because i couldn't hold the baby right. i can't tell if it were a dream or not, and i think i'll never know.

0:51 It is a calm Friday evening. After school club has just ended and your friends go outside to their parents and go home. You stayed back to tie your shoe. The darkness behind you in the corridor is only growing by the minute. “What a relaxing day” you think rain starts to drizzle down from the clouds and you get your coat on and walk to your parents. Their car is not there. They are not there. You walk home in the drizzling rain. It is rather relaxing. The school, illuminating the dim evening daylight, stands in its place as you slowly walk away from it to the freedom of the weekend.
These pictures made me remember something that I don’t know if it was real or not (I can’t distance daydreams from reality btw) I was in a fairly looking normal house but after looking around I went to the second floor balcony and then up to the (nonexistent) third floor the entire room looked like a liminal space it wasn’t very clean and there was a small green spiral staircase that led to a small pink room I don’t know how long I stayed there but it felt like seconds my mom called me to come get lunch but when I found the room it was only 10:00ish (my mom cleaned houses for awhile and I know she cleaned that house because me and my brother took a bunch of acorns from the balcony and he remembers the building but not the room. I still to this day don’t know if I shifted, daydreamed or if it actually happened but that memory still haunts me with how odd that room felt I still remember the feeling of it
@Thatariesartist I remember something similar (well, not really, but..) So, I remember visiting my cousin’s house for a while, and the neighbors house had a porch that looked kind of like a greenhouse? So I remember going inside and just seeing an elderly lady there, and I swear to the deities that are believed in, we were having a conversation, she baked me warm chocolate cookies (I swear! I still have the taste in my mouth!) And I sat on the floor of her living room (she had only her rocking chair, and the livingroom was E M P T Y. the only two things were a TV and her chair) watching that little chinese girl cartoon (Ni Hao Kailan? I think?) I always ask my parents about that. They always say I’ve been dreaming.
You wake up here after you slept for a couple hours. The couch seemed fine even though it felt firmer than you remember. The music echoes throughout the whole universe. The grass is made out of cardboard. The sky is made out of drywall. You feel a burning sensation in your chest. Is… is this the afterlife?
Is it normal that as a child I dreamed a lot about these places? I barely knew the name and I was watching videos of this type since they are very similar to the ones in my dream.
Weirdcore gives me the felling of ‘ I’m safe ‘ ‘ it’s so calm ‘ and ‘ what am I doing here?… ‘ all at the same time with the feeling of anxiety in the background. It weird but nice… ^U^
@@yowaylmi593 Traumacore is a type of imagery that delves into the themes of abuse and trauma (particularly sexual trauma or CSA), though it's not strictly limited to physical or sexual abuse. Mental, emotional, and spiritual abuse are also common themes as it pertains to traumacore. It often draws heavily on childlike and angelic themes, done so as a means to try and reclaim their innocence. Traumacore in general tends to be more focused on trauma experienced in childhood, although adult trauma can also be covered. Many people turn to these images to help them cope with the pain they suffered in the past. While many people say traumacore isn't inherently an aesthetic, many of the images used in its photo or video edits are derived from other aesthetics. Traumacore is more of a type of art therapy or visual journaling for many people with trauma. It is worth noting that some people who have went through trauma and use traumacore have stated that traumacore is an aesthetic, (albeit a special kind of aesthetic) while others state that it isn't, since those without trauma may try to romanticize the experiences of traumatized individuals.
sorry to say this but trauma is NOT an "aesthetic". personally i think "traumacore" is stupid. i have a crap load of trauma and don't turn that into an idiotic, "aesthetic".
What I love about videos like these is that I get to read through comments and find comfort in knowing that yes, my feelings are valid and real, and that other people feel them as well.
idk why but whenever i hear the caretaker in something thats not by he caretaker it always catches me offguard like a jumpscare but instead of being scared im just unsettled

Sort of.. You're correct that nostalgia from things you haven't experienced is known as anemoia, but that's not the feeling we all get from that video. We get real nostalgia from what can only be described as dreams, or EARLY childhood memories, that just like dreams, only come to mind as glimpses.

Everything is colorful, but blatantly square. Emptiness reigns various rooms, there is always something missing when you create a world devoid of a soul. Perhaps we are the soul, quietly enjoying the aesthetics, waiting for it all to come to an end.

@@fog3098 sounds dun
These images make me feel better
The fact that I can't explain and describe this feeling makes me love it so much more
So, here is the physiology behind this :]
These pictures are pictures of liminal spaces mixed in with noglista or weird /offputting objects.
(TRUAMACORE IS NOT AN AESTHETIC, IT'S A WAY TO COPE WITH TRAUMA!!!)
Our brains are hardwired to know the context.
Some liminal spaces include an empty parking lot, a house with all its furniture removed, an abandoned mall, a playground at night, an empty school,
But an empty forest isn't familiar or strange because nature is typically abandoned.
Some examples and what they match up to:
- An old mall, you've probably seen one like that on a show
-The heavily edited and saturated unnatural backgrounds are like something you would see on a kids show
-The empty rolling hills are like some default windows background.
-Playgrounds, you've probably been to the following as a kid
-slides
-arcades
-party rooms
and so on and so on
-maybe a sonic drive-through,
- a gas station
-images like the backrooms are probably empty storage rooms or offices
It's very likely you guys are just unlocking memories you forgot until now.

The school, illuminating the dim evening daylight, stands in its place as you slowly walk away from it to the freedom of the weekend.

i have memories similar to that in liminal spaces, and they feel so real. yet i don't really know if they are real or not. it's an odd feeling.
@Thatariesartist I remember something similar (well, not really, but..)
So, I remember visiting my cousin’s house for a while, and the neighbors house had a porch that looked kind of like a greenhouse? So I remember going inside and just seeing an elderly lady there, and I swear to the deities that are believed in, we were having a conversation, she baked me warm chocolate cookies (I swear! I still have the taste in my mouth!)
And I sat on the floor of her living room (she had only her rocking chair, and the livingroom was E M P T Y. the only two things were a TV and her chair) watching that little chinese girl cartoon (Ni Hao Kailan? I think?) I always ask my parents about that. They always say I’ve been dreaming.
This... this...so beautiful. I do not know what to pay attention to. It's just a miracle, sorry for the emotions, but I'm melting. It's just a dream

Traumacoгe? 🤨
@@yowaylmi593 music style
@@fetchhboy402 how
@@yowaylmi593 Traumacore is a type of imagery that delves into the themes of abuse and trauma (particularly sexual trauma or CSA), though it's not strictly limited to physical or sexual abuse.
