haha, yes! Pretty much same happened to me, I was so surprised that I made a video about it (about a year ago, "Awesome Kicad Routing Assistance"). That was net colours in layout, but at some point after that, net class support got really good on the schem side, and is now well integrated between schem and layout. Well... pretty well integrated, still not sure what I think of having to set the colours in both places, but maybe that's a good thing.

I have been using KiCAD for years and its possible to use COLORED labels ?!?!?!?
