many good points in this video about Quaker parrots. My Quaker parrot is 21 now mellowing out in his old age now. he still likes to prank me, aggravate me, and give me a hard time. I retired 11 years ago so now i open their cage up and let them out for the day. they love it. I have a 15 year old green cheek conure also. qp and his green cheek buddy are the best of friends and they spend most of their day together. My QP comes out to land on my bald head and slide ( lol), preen me, and get treats, sunflower seeds, raisins, and Cheerios. etc.I hope he'll make a few more years.
Well this honestly explains a lot. From why mine seems to behave like a little rat from October to January to proving me and my father are correct in that he needs to come out of his cage more often.
Mine is very attached to me. Grooms me, let me access the cage even when she have eggs and go outside to free fly every day. If a stranger show up within 100 feet, she growl to warn me of the 'danger' , same if a hawk is flying nearby. On the other hands, she hates everyone else, learned to coexist with my wife a little but still wont let her touch her. My brother in law and my son, she just B-line for them fearlessly, latch on their back and keep biting. I have to be careful if they are in the same room. This was a good video to watch if you plan on getting a quaker parrot.
I see these all the time here in Hollywood, Florida while buzzing around on my Vespa. Super wholesome sight; I think they come from the Caribbean. They’re quite noisy so you definitely hear them squabbling before you actually see them
We have them in New Orleans too. They are actually native to a small area in South America that encompasses parts of Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina. What we are seeing in New Orleans and Hollywood, Fl are feral birds, which means they are the progeny of people's pets who were released or escaped (possibly during a hurricane) and then survived and bred in an urban environment. They love the date palms here and also building huge nests in the transformers. You can actually feed them a high quality parrot mix in a bird feeder, if you're willing to put up with all the pigeons and rats that might also like a little snack.
Much of it is common sense, but your specialist knowledge was very helpful. I will be home all day, so he will always have company. Excellent video! Some of the behaviors you discussed are very similar to those of my Green Cheek Conure. Do you think a GCC and Quaker would be compatible?
Actually i am not too familiar with Conures. Also it is lot dependent from bird to bird, and their previous experience. They tolerate Lovebirds. I think they would be fine with GCC. But still i would get 2 cages for them. Especially at beginning...
Quaker Parrot World Ive heard of those aswell but even though we are careful of that she doesn’t want to leave the house like we might have the door slightly open and she will stay on the couch and I once opened the door with her on my shoulder but im not going to take any chances
It is only color difference. There is no behavioural difference between Green and Blue Quaker Parrot. Breeders do selective breeding only to get certain color traits.
I have a yellow Quaker. So from what I learned, green is a colour made from blue and yellow. Yellow and blue quakers often don't make it in the wild because they stand out, but they're no different in their personality, they just tend to survive better in captivity.
I want to buy one but I don't know if I should get two of them to have company or if I should get one, keep it for a year and then one more after I've bonded with the first oooor if I should just get one and not a second one !
@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 I wondered if I could get a baby lovebird to be with my baby Quaker. I had a baby lovebird that lived until he was 23. My Quaker passed unexpectedly at 14 last year

My quaker just walks out her cage when she wants attention
Ohh it can be risky. Make sure your door are closed. I have heard of many stories of parrots flying away...
But yea, really good for them to have freedom to fly 👌

I liked your video. I have a blue quaker named freddie and this was very helpful. Thank you 👍
Thanks Dave.
Very useful video thankx
i know you your from Birds TV 4U
Yes I love Birdstv4u channel
Being a adorable lovable little butthead is one of the characteristics that quakers have.
Is there any real difference other than color in a blue and green Quaker? Is one better or is it just the color difference?
It is only color difference. There is no behavioural difference between Green and Blue Quaker Parrot. Breeders do selective breeding only to get certain color traits.
Ok! Thankyou!

I just got a Quaker and he is small I want to know what kind of food to feed him? I hope he bonds with me like my love bird
So, signs of a happy Quaker? Besides them not screaming.
This was very helpful, I just bought two green Quaker parrots named Ringo and Star. 👍
Thanks Chamby
Mine has become a monster. Going through the bluffing stage.
Nice video!

what kind of bird is the small one?
It is Lovebird.
I had budgies and lovebirds. And lovebirds seems more active, and louder.
Do the Quaker and lovebird stay in the same cage?
No, they have separate cages

Wow so exciting.... Nice... Hope it is healthy, and well...
How old are they normally when they begin to speak words or imitate sounds?
depends on a bird really. I had some that never spoke... Some spoke after a year or something...
Love my bird
Is a year old still good
yep if your patient
I got one Quaker parrot named him. Yoda
Nice name.. I guess he is Green Quaker 😁
@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 yup
I’m trying to tame my Quaker, but no luck yet. It’s been 3 years.
Try millet or their favorite food on the other side of your hand that you're trying to get them to step up onto.
U should not put nest box for a single bird or birds with same gender.........
Yea, usually no need for it
My Quaker parrot died today :( he was blue just like the one in the video.
Am I the only one who didn't listen and only watched the quakers?
