This little Quaker parrot reminds me of Lefty, who you saved and found a new forever home. Lots of smarts and energy, and with training a happy family all around. Thanks for sharing.
シUwU ever bird has their own story and their own inherited differences. Wild, tame, hand fed, momma bird reared, neglected, spoiled, trained, adopted, rehomed. Some are just jerks! Mine can go from floofy cuddly angel to a$$hole in 10 seconds sometimes!
They are. We don’t know exactly how old my quaker is but we think she’s about three, not the cuddliest bird I’ve ever known but such a soulful parrot. (She doesn’t talk but she likes to mimic people’s laughs😂)
The Official Primal Kyogre you can’t visually. I think a trained aviary vet can by feel. Get a dna test is your best bet. Ivy’s breeder sent off for a dna year for her, a lab in Florida for $25.
I’m a retired dog trainer and love watching you work with birds using classic conditioning concepts. I’ve got one tip for you to think about. When this person displayed awkward hand dexterity with clicker & treats asking for a step up, it reminded me what I teach and is an easy work around. Sometimes clients struggle with leaches, clickers and treats so I teach a “reward marker” and in essence it becomes the clicker when I don’t have one handy. I say YES - while I also CLICK (when in hand) - followed by treat reward. Sometimes I’ll get something when not “training” and then I’ll mark the behavior then have to scramble to get a reward quickly cuz I don’t always have treats on me! So it’s a verbal marker when we don’t have a clicker, as we always have our mouths with us but not always a clicker. I so wish I could live with a bird. I’d love to fly them. I own bird dogs so it would be torture for them. That’s my favorite thing to watch you guys do is free flying.
I don't know your dogs but it doesn't have to be bad for either dog or bird :) I got both and they're happily coexisting. I taught my dog to leave whenever the birds come near him or near the floor and of course they're always supervised when in the same room :)
I need to do a lot of this with my female, Mayday. She’s EXTREMELY cage aggressive and territorial. She’s a big miss grumpy pants. I have to be more consistent when she does good things in general. Anything that’s NOT bite or screechatating gets praise and treats. Also, she’s not grooming her neck and head pin feathers at all really. I think I need some different toys and perches for her to rub on than the current ones. I HAD to towel her today to help her out. Once I did and she calmed down, she cooed and peeped lightly while o was massaging her pins out. So I know she really appreciated it and knew I was helping. It’s just I wish she’d groom better on her own.
Quaker parrots are too adorable for my sanity. My husband and I have our hands almost full at the moment, but once we have the time and space, a quaker is being added to our flock.
I always take away something great with these videos. My parrotlet moves so fast I can get really overwhelmed so seeing this helped me take a look at how I'm handling him! You guys are great! Thank you and the people in your masterclasses that are willing to share their experience!!
My Quaker, Paco, doesnt like the perches at the vet's office so I trained him to lie on the scale at about 6 months old. I first started with being able to hold him, then progressing to laying on his back, then on the table, then on a scale. From what I remember (this was nearly 13 years ago), took about 2 weeks. All the vets & their techs have a good laugh on our first visit with them.
This was so fascinating to watch. She is a good owner. Very receptive to advice and seems to have a good relationship with the bird. Great dynamic between the woman and the bird, and a great dynamic between the woman and mentor
I mean, wow 🤩 awesome. And of course we are learning from the best TH-cam channel on planet earth, and planet Venus. Possibly planet Pluto if Pluto is a planet. Great video Jaime! I love waking up to awesomeness.
Oh my god I had such a laugh at the end 😂😂😂😂😂😍 adorable. And how nice to see their relationship ... he is sooo clever and quick wow this is a task. Wish them all the best. I think you always capture the behaviors and little things so well ❤️
WOW. Chatty Kathy there at the end. (a doll from 60s or so that you'd pull her string to make Kathy talk) That was hilarious! Almost like: you're talking about me and I'm RIGHT HERE!! 😆😆 Such great information as always from Bird Tricks. 👍
The first parrot I ever had was a Quaker. I had no experience or knowledge of how to train any bird. I was only 14 or 15 maybe, and my parrot would lay in my hands. I think may just be part of their natural behavior. I love these birds I definitely want to get another one eventually.
Love love love Quakers...that little guy is so much like my Piper they a big birds in a smaller package! Such an awesome video...thank you! I was wondering though if you could do a training video teaching a bird who has never done it before to lay in your hand.
Hi , Im new to your channel , i don"t own birds now but i owned budgies and zebra finch before. i find your channel is very entertaining and informative. i wish you could do more videos about sun conures.
Can you offer any advice and information about quaker parriots? I'm curious I've been doing research and have been asking others opinions on them. I understand every bird has their own quirks and personalities. I'm just curious because I've been thinking about adopting one, luckily my mom has own 2 birds but I would appreciate any input I can receive.
I play with my Ocha...almost everyday, he is a smart quaker...but Im lazy to train him..he kisses me in bed, sing n always ask for my attention. I love him ❤❤❤ He is adorable n loving bird to my husband n daughter also...theproblem is he poops often n eventhough he could be trained...still if Ocha is too excited n talk..he poops. He sings with me n whistle...but he wants to talk n ask question only to my daughter n husband. Pickaboo, where r you going, out, his name..ok ..so cute n m3lt my heart
So I have a 1 year old quacker and one day I just flipped him and rubbed his chest and does it all the time lol. Like I didn't even try to train him, just tried it once and he's been okay with it ever since.
I have the same type of bird and when ever my parents get mad at me or my siblings he starts to yell 😂 and he know when we are playing with him when we ask our parents to yell at us he doesn’t respond
Not really on topic but we just rescued a lesser sulfur crested cockatoo female and she does this thing where she tucks her wing between her legs and I was wondering if it is a hormonal thing??? I have a grey and a conure and neither have ever done anything like that before!!
My Senegal will step up willingly from anywhere besides her one swing she has. And I don’t want to take it away because it files her nails well. What should I do?
Hi Birdtricks! I was hoping you can give me some good tips to start handling my bird that wasn’t hand feed. Only from his parents. Please help!! I love him so much!

Should I get a galah coockatoo? I have lots of experience with little birds like budgies and we'll budgies I wanted one for a long time and we'll hearing it from an expert like you guys or gals u want to know if galahs are ok for me i know how they act how loud they are and I even seen all the videos of bandit rip his great soul 😢 and after seeing those videos I started to love galahs and I'm thinking of getting one or just a plane cocktail
I got my macaw a month ago and she’s deathly afraid of sticks and hands. How can i help her not fear them? She’s also very cage aggressive and will strike when she’s on her cage.
Why do Quaker Parrots start to lay on their backs? I took my boy Quaker Parrot outside for some sun, and I was sitting next to him. And noticed he started laying on his back, like if he was having fun
I have two handheld quackers and they’re really sweet just not towards each other. I’ve tried feeding them on separate perches in a neutral area and it seems to work for a bit but one of the birds is not food motivated, and starts to try to attack the other bird what can I do? (The one that tries to bite the other bird is a new bird that I got maybe 6months ago and the other has been with me for 6+ years)
PLEASE HELP!: I have a quaker myself, she is just 6 months old but she cannot go upside down and seems to have very bad gripping and balance ( especially compared to my 8-year-old rescue conure who can easily go upside down on my finger) her feathers only seems relaxed like this monk here occasionally ( we call that the big fluff when she gets so relaxed and fluffy she shakes) she's comfortable with me but not like the monk here. I've known her since she was just weeks old, should I be concerned if this is normal behavior? I do not know of anyone else with a quaker!
I have quakers they all different some are friendly some are not like any other animal i think is something normal if you can try buying him/her a friendly parther so he learn from the other parrot they are smart animals and like to copy others
Maybe take her to a vet to double check. I have a Quaker and he plays all crazy upside down ect. Hes very lovey an sweet. When they are all puffed up it normally means they are staying warm. Good luck!
As I looked at our female quaker today I cried because I feel so bad that her mate died a few days ago..they were bonded. ..my daughter accidentally stepped on the male because he was on the floor..he had such a horrible trim on his wings that he couldn't fly well, my daughter didn't see him that morning 🥺💔 I felt sooo bad that day, and still do..bummer 💔👎
yes i understand rewarding the bird but at the same time i think she had it down pat with the way she did it she is used to dog training wich i feel can work too :)
Jamieleigh and Dave's advice is great, but the best part is when the bird gives its own opinions at the end.
I have same bird. She bite . Any advise please.
This little Quaker parrot reminds me of Lefty, who you saved and found a new forever home. Lots of smarts and energy, and with training a happy family all around. Thanks for sharing.
Quakers are awesome and so smart! So cute, I have a 9 month old female. I love her so much, and their voices are precious!
Lori Duncan my male Quaker parrot just turned 10 months today and he still hates me. He doesn’t talk should I be concerned?

I love their little black bean-like eyes.😘😘
I love how puffy they Are

I've seen Jamie do this before with experienced birds but not newbies probably because she wants then to have basics down first
So adorable...that laugh in the end... lol

When the quaker started talking at the end, that was too cute!
🤣🤣🤣 Quakers are so darn cute! This little guy couldn’t be any cuter!!
Such a cutie!!! That laugh at the end tho :D

Omg! Great Video! I learned a lot and George laughing was the cutest freaking thing. It really made my day better.

Frieda Schnell thank you!! 💜
I saw the new video notification pop up and thought "I bet it's BirdTricks", and sure enough, here you are!
Also gotta love the laughing at the end XD
Love the video! And the bird laughing at the end is so funny & cute!
I love Quakers, want one!
So the clicker is just an audible noise for bird to know when something has been done correctly or 'praise'?
Quakers are so cute! I love this video😊
i have a blue quaker i just love the feathers on there legs it looks like they are wearing pants
Aw he has such a cute laugh! Where is the heart button on this thing!?❤️
My quakers face when she hears that click though! Beep them out like curse words :)

His voice at the end, lol
Omg!!! That Laugh!😂
XD, she trained the bird, to train her in being impatient.
I did touch with my female quaker parrot and she responded well I also worked with her on allowing me too hold her in my hand and she allowed me to
Aww! What a cutiee!! 😁😁😁
