Never centre for an abdomen. Instead set the collimation to the top and bottom of the cassette, then using the light from the collimator to ensure the symphysis pubis will appear on the bottom of the image and you will guarantee no male gonads will ever be accidentally or routinely in the primary beam. Also collimate laterally to several centimetres within the skin edge as there is nothing to see in the fat zone.
