I am playing with the brand new reverb pedal from Strymon, the Strymon Cloudburst ambient reverb.
I'm trying 10 different tones, from a quick slapback to a big symphony using the new String Ensemble effect of the pedal, a sound unheard in any other pedal from Strymon.

Sounded like you were having a little fun on Sound #5 😄 Great demo as always! I just put Cloudburst on my board a few days ago, it is truly a magic box of inspiration!
The reverb that becomes a string pad thing is killer. I need to try to replicate that on my H90 before buying yet another reverb pedal but wow it's tempting.
These sounds are, in fact quite beautiful as described. However, there is much more variety to this pedal when the mix knob is turned lower and more of the original signal is mixed in. All these samples are very wet which leans into the ambient color but this pedal is capable of more simple but excellent reverbs with or without engaging either the ensemble function or the modulation knob. Superb demo. You showed that not only does it do the ensemble thing which what other reviewers concentrate on, it will also do a decent "ordinary reverb" and a very good shimmer. I have never owned a reverb pedal but that could be about to change.

I hope you are keeping well and I am looking forward to diving into some of your more recent chord videos as I start my ambient journey with the videos and your course!
Thanks for caring! I'm doing much better since a month or two. I already removed a few things that were time consuming for me (a membership site), and am only making videos when I feel good, which is fortunately happening a lot more this year! I'm managing my energy levels a lot better and taking more breaks. The 3 Strymom Cloudburst videos were done in the same morning and I took a nice long break in the afternoon. I'm very hopeful that I'll be able to make a lot of helpful videos this year while taking care of myself better. Thanks 😊

Such beautiful sounds, Antoine. As you know, I try to keep my physical effect pedal collection small, but this is one I’ll keep in the back of my mind as a potential purchase in the future. I’ve actually decided a couple weeks back that once my fiancée and I move into a house, I’m starting to learn saxophone so I’ll have more instruments available for my creative projects. I still usually stick to guitars and synths but the kalimba pops in every so often haha. Nice to see the eBow as well!
Wow, saxophone! That'll be a big change of pace, that's for sure. If I had to learn another instrument, that would definitely be cello for me!

I know right? I've gone from not knowing a thing about this pedal to absolutely must own one immediately in the space of about an hour watching videos.
Most likely manufacturers have embargos on reviews and once they lift that, all the youtubers that got units for review pop up their videos at the same time.

Wonderful video--- is there a place where Cloudburst users post their settings? Diagrams..
It makes beautiful sounds. It’s just that, for my ears it doesn’t sound much like a guitar with this Cloudburst. Pads…yes. Synths….yes. Sunday angel church music…yes. Ambient as all get out…yes. But, ‘guitar’?…. not so much. I haven’t completely decided if that’s a bad, or a good thing????

I bought one. Love it. Only complaint, and this surprises me coming from Strymon, is that it has an audible POP when turning it on and off. Blek.
Got one friend, and I have not had that as an issue.
@@anthonyfox1436 try turning it off as sound is running through it. It doesn't do that when there is no signal.

Is there a resource available to compare how this is any different than Cloud Mode on a big Sky? This is what I wanted them to make forever and got a Big Sky instead 😑😑😂😂

Yeah what happened to this company? Maybe we should be supporting Meris now? I think its the new "marketing" guy at Strymon who has ruined Pete celi.
It's not though. It's a response to all of the people who requested the Strymon sound without the pricetag, without the control overload and menu diving, and oversize real estate, AS WELL as being a genuinely innovative new pedal and effect. Save the vitriol for the makers releasing their umpteenth clone of some generic booteek overdrive circuit. THAT'S what a cash grab looks like. This is something that took years of work and is something genuinely new and innovative, responds to consumer demands, fills a gap, is accessible, and is also (comparatively) affordable for a Strymon pedal. That's what pedal builders SHOULD be doing. They spend years achieving this, and people just spend 3 seconds writing knee-jerk uninformed opinions, that they have before even seeing reviews and demonstrations. There's just no pleasing the haters. Their loss. The pedal is amazing and genuinely innovative. Ensemble is the future of textural reverb. Just you wait.
Looks like a nerve was struck, and is stuck on ensemble mode. I have many Strymon pedals and love them. Innovation is copying bigsky algorithm and releasing a bigsky plugin. V2 bluesky with mod knob.
@@clayteasouth We can agree to disagree. Ensemble mode is a game changer for me, and what I do, but might not connect with you, but I have a bunch of friends who love the Strymon sound but don't like too much knob tweaking or menu diving or the price that are thinking of getting this. So I think that is the main audience that this will connect with, and who they had in mind, not necessarily those already in the Strymon game, for whom it might feel a bit obsolete, which might be your point.
I agree about the bigsky plugin being a brilliant move, I just think they have priced it too high to compete. Let's hope there's a price drop at some point to make it more competitive.

It's exactly the same embossed die-cast aluminium matte-finished enclosure that they use on ALL their pedals (even the EXACT same colour and finish as the Big Sky). Which is extremely far from cheap looking, and is actually known as one of the most high-end enclosures on the market. Which, as a Strymon owner, you obviously know. Making your comment just a pointless piss in the wind of nothing, which we all had to read. A stupid comment deserves a stupid response. Don't say stupid shit and I won't reply to said stupid shit. Simples.
