Very helpful to know that your only fertilizer is your worm tea, and to see how much you added to the bags. Thank you for this lovely informative video, Morag!
Lovely video! This is my first year trying potatoes and it is in a large garden pot instead of open ground. So far, so good and no Colorado Potato Beetles yet (checking daily and crossing fingers!). This is such an encouraging video for us gardeners who are small-scale. Thank you!
thanks me darlin im off to me garden to try this on a big scale in hay ....lol old hay coz it didnt work last year with new hay all the best thanks your a star in the makeing
So I discovered that there are determinant and indeterminant potatoes and the one I grew from the supermarket didn't set off new shoots as the plant grew taller. I'm guessing they are determinant. Can you shed some light on this please. I am in the Brisbane region, could you suggest somehwere to buy indeterminant potatoes (if i'm understanding that correctly). Many thanks. I love your videos, very informative and easy to listen to.
Great video! I'm growing potatoes in buckets using the "EVE" (ECO VERTICAL EVOLUTION) growing concept and so far they're doing good. All irrigation is saved for the next watering so you can grow on apartment balconies without overflow. Just subscribed to your awesome channel!
Great video! I want to grow some potato's in the bag but I was planning on mixing normal garden dirt with compost.. do you think it will work? I love your rosella videos too! Xx
Hello Morag, im.a new subsvriber.and watched a few. Comfry, compost amd no dig beds videos and your lecture about pest free gardens and I'm in awe. About the potatoes Paul gautschi said to bury the biggest potatoes to get the biggest crops and highest years since there is more stored energy in the seed potatoes.... have you ever noticed any significant difference between whole potatoes and slices pieces with just 1 or 2 eyes ? Also when I have potatoes that start to chit on my pantry can I ignore the seasons and plant that potato in a bag with compost on my porch covered in bubble wrap and newspaper waddles in a bigger bag ? Would they stay in dormancy until March and sprout when it's there time ? Ps very amazing way if explaining and showing. Your energy calmness and vibe shows your a very patient loving person and mother. And your a great role model. Thanks for your Inspiration. Ow and happy new year 😉
Maybe if they are right up against the cloth without a soil barrier but that also happens in the garden sometimes when the top ones get exposed. Most will be just perfect
In non-frost areas the best time is March-April - but now is good too. In frost zones (I get some here), I need to wait until nowish/early spring. Avoid the hot humid months when more chance of problems.

I've heard that people have trouble growing potatoes from the ones they have at home? Is that generally because they are store bought ones? I have some organic potatoes now that I purchased recently, and they are sprouting in their bowl after being covered over for a few days. In your opinion (or anyone else who would like to comment), should I be able to use these to start a bag of potatoes without problem. Any help appreciated, thank you :)

I like to include compost in the bag too.

What a great idea🙂 I’ll definitely be giving this a go. Thanks 🙂
Thanks again Morag, love your channel. Cheers, Jim.
Thanks now I will plant potatoes in bags🌿
Absolutely love this idea!
Very cool. Can you do a follow up video at the end of the season?
sure - great idea
awesome! thanks for sharing Morag :)
This is great! I am going to try this. How much water do they need? As they’re in a bag not the ground I imagine they dry out very easily?
I may be wrong but shouldn't you let those potatoes heal after cutting them? Great video as always.

love it
Morag, is there a danger of the potatoes going green from light getting through the hessian bags?
Maybe if they are right up against the cloth without a soil barrier but that also happens in the garden sometimes when the top ones get exposed. Most will be just perfect
Hi Morag! Can you grow potatoes indoors?
Thank you for all of the information :)!
Question: I wonder if you could use those large dog food bags instead?
Pammie from Chicago
That would work
Morag , is that plain straw bedding you’re using and Not Alfalfa hay , which rots and decays, correct ?
When do you plant them? I know we're not from the same climate but maybe you'll know? I am from up North in New England. Temperate Climate.
Hi Morag,
Is there a specific time of year to do this in SE Qld? or can I do it year round.
Also where would I situate the bag? Sun? Shade?
Thanks

Grow in sun, but good to shade the bag with mulch a bit, or snuggled in amongst other herbs or pots.
Hi Morag!
Can you please tell me how to make worms liquid?
thank you!

Yes, they would be perfect.
Do they like a lot of sun? Or no.
When I tried that my sack rotted.
Can I move to your village????
It's really lovely. There are lots of ecovillages everywhere - have you seen ecovillage.org - the Global Ecovillage Network.
What about rain going into it ?
I'm sorry; what is a worm farm??
