I played through First and Second Encounter back to back and I gotta say, as annoying as those kleer fckers were in First Encounter, I welcomed the OP flamethrower. Cooking those bastards is retribution for the 2 hours I spent stuck on Kleer Alley without the cannon in my arsenal (missed the secret) or rocket jumping back over that spike pit. (I didn't know it was an option until I saw it on YT after the fact 😪.) I think I now hate kleers more than any other video game enemy.
