- A scene can have one of the most craziest balls to the wall action/story/dialogue imaginable, but if the lighting isn't there to match? It might all fall apart.

Something I'd like to see improved in future videos is the audio quality. Getting a pop filter for your mic or even a new mic/adjust setting/speak further away can get rid of the "peaking" bits. That's when the input of the audio into the microphone is too high and it clips, making the sound really grating and hard to listen to. Some people don't even really notice it, but for others it makes the video almost unwatchable. It's kind of funny to me, and gives your videos a very workman like low-fi vibe, which I dig, but there are instances where I think it would be beneficial to go the more clean, professional route. Just my two cents because I love your content and I think you're doing really great things for the brickfilming community :)
Holy Crap Lois, it's Forrestfire101!
Thanks for the input! Audio levels are something I’ve definitely been neglecting when mixing and I kinda just place my mic wherever it’s convenient. Glad to hear it definitely sticks out for some people though because I’ve definitely taken the “if no one’s gonna point it out maybe it’s not that bad” approach 😦
Omg forestfire here
Wow ur here
I’m just going to say it before someone else says it. “wHeN iS tHe NeXt lEgO bAtMaN vIdEo”. I don’t mean it I know it’s in the works but I know someone will say it 😒
The most useful guide for animators, which isn’t me
Very useful indeed.
Indeed.
Indeed it is.
Indeed, indeed, indeed.
Ultra indeed

Dude you're everywhere!
petition: edbound try's making a stop motion in stop motion studio on his phone
i sign
And he does it for 1 week on stream
@@GlitchyZooPizzaBoxno sleep allowed either. literally one stream for a week nonstop
Thank you Edbound. Lighting is what I think can separate a normal stopmotion video into a *c i n e m a t i c experience*
Oh i also mask out light flicker too how cool!
Random kid: “Mr, my knee is bleeding, what should I do?”
Edbound: “slap a pirate of paper on it”.
I took a break from watching brickfilm day entries to watch this.
*I Was Not Disappointed*
Edbound deserves way more subs for the amount of work he puts in his videos
Yee
That's true
I agree
One of the most useful tips an animator can use for anything.
incredibly useful video
something i do is once i finish taking the pictures for a scene i edit one in lightroom and make a preset, which i put on all the other photos, making small adjustments for light flicker
I feel personally attacked about the light flicker stuff
Dude out here being a saviour for aspiring brick film makers, it’s so cool how you teach instead of just show your content
I’ve only recently learned the importance of lighting in my stopmotions and in my ninja turtles trailer it really paid off
My worst fear, Light flicker
YESSSSSS FINALLY! A LIGHTING VIDEO
I concentrated so hard that my eyes hurt
Thanks for the paper tip! I only have 1 desk lamp so that's really useful! :)
This helped a lot thanks Edbound.
Lighting is definitely something I've ignored...as well as Sets...this is really inspiring...thanks imma work on this 🤙👌
This is very informative, thank you!
I have Been following you for a long time and I love your lego content so much big up
Because Edbound is just that awesome, and make some great usage of lighting,so that's very important & just very good
SCIENCE MATTERS!! Even in cases like this. Thanks a lot edbound, this REALLY helped me a lot! Thanks you so much! I'll be saying farewell to my poorly lit videos. 🙂😀😉😎
Great video. Gets straight to the point and delivers lots of nuggets of highly relevant and useful information. I learnt a lot. Many Thanks :-)
Cool. I really needed a lighting video
I really needed lighting help with my videos, thank you so much.
Edbound, I've been rewatching your vids all weekend, so remembering today was Monday and seeing this upload was a pleasant surprise! Keep killing it my guy! Also, can't wait for that Spidey short!!
Thank you so much for making these videos Edbound. It really helps me improve my stop motion videos quality. those were some good techniques to use for making videos
This is super helpful this is gonna take my stopmotions to the next level
Your Monday videos are the only way I know what day it is
Would you mind doing a walkthrough with your Logitech settings?
Yeah, this would be really helpful to a lot of people
They change around from time to time depending on the setting, but for the most part the stuff that stays the same on my Logitech is about 70-80% exposure (i think exposure is a hidden setting but I can adjust it on Dragonframe, Ghub and OBS Studio can also adjust it) and 0% gain (which I assume is the iso, but Dragonframe calls it gain for some reason. It’s really similar to exposure in how bright it makes the lights appear on camera.)
Then for stuff like brightness, contrast and colour intensity I usually just have that around the 40-60% range, varying depending on the scene.
White balance changes a lot too but keeping it around 50% is a safe bet for most settings, it makes it much easier to colour grade in post
@@Edbound wow, thanks that was really helpful. These tutorials are also great as well
me: making stop motion
light: heres where the fun begins
1:05 ITS ABOUT DRIVE ITS ABOUT POWER WE STAY HUNGRY WE DEVOUR
Yes I needed this ! Honestly I think lighting is the strongest element of your videos, they look so rich and shiny
Thank you! I've got a photo background, but my kid is really getting into stop motion, looks like he's gonna be getting some desk lamps and a link to this for christmas!
What the- I was just fixing my stop motion lights right now and I get this notification
Discovered your channel from the movies. Stayed for the content
so nice guide for animator cool
Awesome! Thank you Edbound that was really helpful!!!!!
This is very helpful man! Thanks for these tips they really help’
These tutorial style videos are some of my favorites that you do, they are extremely helpful while also really entertaining and funny! Can’t wait to see the Spider-Man short!
This is what i call cinematography master
Lighting is important
VERY helpful. It was a nice breath of fresh air to hear light flicker is a common problem...other than the common response I get, which is just "get better lighting."
I read the title as:
Why your lightning is everything
I never find guides that actually help me but this and the set design vid helped a lot
After this I've been paying a lot of attention to your lighting in your videos.
This was genuinely very helpful
This is so useful for me. Lighting is probably my biggest problem
After I used these tips I looked at my old animations and thought gosh what is this junk
When is your LEGO Thor movie gonna be released?
This was really helpful, I’ve worked on Lego animations in my past and well they’ve been really crappy and I haven’t put the time in them but I’m working on an brickfilm which I have about 6months to shoot so this lighting tutorial will really help, thanks
That’s all I need
Really great video! I might invest in LED's now that I know where to get them :)
Dang, so Light Flicker truly is impossible. At least I know it's not just me
I never thought of this before
Wow Mr edbound what a guide you have gave us really like your videos. Keep it up.Tis will be useful to me.
The Monday uploads you love to see it
Everywhere you go you see lights
Thank you edbound When I'm down in the dumps I watch your videos and make me laugh I mainly laugh in your 3 minute or 5 minute property videos Main little sonic with what the hell are you Hey I just wanna say thank you I've started doing stop motion myself thinking of making a channel why I already have a channel but you know I meant send my own stuff most into I'm not sure about that All I have to say yes thank you
Yaya I really needed this because I have been having trouble with it
Omg hey Luke!
@@harlowproductions9917 hey 👋
@@lukevb55 hi!
I use this technique but when I’m watching TV and there are light flares all over
Omg this is gonna change my animations forever
Thanks Edbound, this was really helpful. I also appreciate how you addressed flicker issues and how no one can avoid it. Can you do a video specifically on how to do proper shadows?
Thank you this really helps a lot
this video was a big help! Thanks!
1:02 it's about drive it's about power we stay hungry we devour
Finally a good LEGO lighting tutorial! I’m going to incorporate this into my next video
I learnt a lot thanks also can’t wait till the spider man short I know u will do amazing!!!!!
I didn’t know that Edbound would make a video today,what a surprise!
Dang this helped A LOT thank you
Sheeesh, lots of stuff that goes into lighting, learned a lot tho. Thanks 😊
So many useful tips crammed into one video, absolutely fantastic 🙏
I never knew I had the same camera as you, looks great!
This is so helpful thank you so much
Oh wow that's really useful! Thank you so so much! 👍👍👍
I learnt a lot much from this video than on my video making and editing course😂 Thanks a lot edbound

Ed just casually turns into Kermit the frog
Thanks for the tips! Great help
I was literally just trying to solve this problem with my setup. Perfect timing Edbound.
I thought it was Lightning was everything
Thank you this going to help me so much
1:00 I thought he was about to say it’s about drive it’s about power
Keep up the good work
0:07 edbound is secretly Kermit the frog!!!
Couldn’t agree more, lighting is something I try to focus on a lot with my animations to make a scene feel more eerie epic or somber.
Ye
This is really gonna help with my upcoming stop motion, maybe if it's for a darker scene but you still wanna make the lighting look natural, you could angle some small LED lights around the characters and inside the set pieces. I never new lighting was this easy!
Great video! I'm gonna go try to improve my lighting now
Fantastic video, very useful advice!
Thanks this hopefully can fix a few things for me
Oh yeah knowledge
Very helpful! I’ll definitely look into getting LEDs
I love looking at this channels commenters videos
Instructions unclear. I broke the bank
I can’t animate and I’m still watching this
Brickfilming is one of the best ways for young kids who want to make films to learn about lighting!
And so much more ! The rules of the camera etc. The best part about stop motion is you are everything in the production, actor director producer editor cinematographer so you can learn everything !
