Awesome! There’s nothing like a drag freight with some of everything in its consist! And, you get some great ideas for your layout as well! Great job.🙏👍✌️
Nice views as always! I think those empty trash cars were on that manifest because they were bound for one of the facilities north of Everett. Seeing all the Canadian equipment, it makes me think it was most likely an H-LYDVBT, TACVBT or maybe even a PASVBT as they ran a lot of those between March and September 2022 (it's been abolished since then). Could also be an INBVBC too. Lots of possibilities haha
Thanks for all these ideas. I wonder if they run the loaded trash trains as unit trains, but move the empties back in regular freights like this. As far as the symbol, these are all good guesses, but on my model railroad I would call it INBVBC, which would allow me to bring trains north into Interbay, break them down and then generate a northbound to VBC.
@@muchfunwithtrains Yeah I'm not sure why those empty trash cars were on a manifest. They still run H-ROOEVE and ROOINBs just as much as their loaded counterparts. Rabanco probably needed some more cars somewhere up north, so they would have likely taken some off a ROOINB and onto an INBVBC to get up north.
Excellent video Burr. Good view of the BNSF freight as it rolls off into the distance along the shoreline. I too enjoy reading the reporting marks and road numbers on the cars.Thats one of the reasons why I prefer HO over N because its difficult to read the markings on the side of locomotives and freight cars. My eyesight just isn't that good. Beautiful view of the bay at the end. Do you remember the Seattle & North Coast Railroad ? They had great looking boxcars and those F-units and switchers were nice too. I like the car ferry/barge operations they had too especially the part of the line that ran out on the water. Unfortunately it's all gone now. Thanks Burr and have a great day !
I am also a big fan of the S&NC and their equipment, but since I've been modeling the 1973 era I have to try to keep it off the layout. I do have the MILW car barge as part of the layout, and if I ever decide to change to a later era past 1980, well, you'll be seeing the S&NC operation here. Or maybe I'll just give in to a moment of weakness and call it modelers license. Thanks for the encouragement! :)
I suppose the best way to tell would be if you could look at the truck springs and see how deflected they are by the contents. Sometimes you can see through the sides if the light is coming from the other side of the car. And no, I don't have a scanner, although nowadays I think you can just download an app on your phone and listen to it livestreamed. I'm just too lazy to set it up. I go down there twice a week for a jog and am only there for a few minutes to catch trains - it's amazing how many trains I've accidentally seen in the last few weeks compared with normal.
The open top containers are used in "trash trains" to haul municipal solid waste from most cities and towns in western Washington State to a landfill along the Columbia River near the mountains. I normally see them loaded, smelly, and covered with tarps moving in southbound unit trains, but on this day they were moving empty northbound in a regular drag freight. There also is a containated dirt disposal site in Oregon that receives dirt in open top containers like this, especially the 20' containers, so for all I know these could have been empties from that location as well.

I totally agree! Thanks.
Great catch !
Thanks!
Merci pour cette magnifique vidéo perfect. Très impressionnant beau paysage un train superbe jr vous souhaite une bonne journée et grand merci

@@muchfunwithtrains your welcome and I hope you have a great time with the layout. Its unfortunate the S&NC was only around for a short time.
@@muchfunwithtrains I just watched the two videos featuring yard operations. Excellent layout !
How can you tell if an auto rack car is empty Burr? By chance, do you have a scanner to hear the trains with?

What’s the deal with the open top containers

I posted a video last year of one of the unit trash trains passing Carkeek Park, here is the link to it. th-cam.com/video/qVou6ZYXTPc/w-d-xo.html
