Watched this video at my dining room table in Renton. I have vague memories of crossing that bridge in the 1960s. Lucky you this morning ! Thanks for the show.
What great timing as the second BNSF freight appears after the first. Both nice manifest trains. Beautiful west coast scenery too. Excellent video Burr. 😁👍
The first one was the daily H-EVELVJ running awfully late. Usually that one departs gets to PA Junction around 12-1 AM. The EVELVJ is easy to identify because of the 3-bay covered petroleum coke hoppers with round loading hatches (the first 13 cars on this one). From what I understand, the BP Cherry Point refinery loads them up and sends them out to the Port of Longview to be unloaded. The second one was an H-PASEVE. All those centerbeams are probably bound for Arlington, Fredonia (Anacortes branch), Sumas, and maybe Bellingham. I'd imagine they'd send the centerbeams for BC on the PASTAC > TACVBT trains. You're probably right about those containers in the well cars. I believe they get loaded with dirty dirt and go to somewhere out in Spokane Valley, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Also one more thing, no "westbound" (coming from east of Everett) manifests exist anymore. The H-SPOEVE has been abolished for quite some time, although the H-EVESPO runs occasionally. That traffic goes to Pasco then up to Everett. All manifests are H symbols, aside from shorter distance ones like the ones to and from Custer and Sumas. By the way, here's a list of common manifest symbols for the west side of the Scenic Sub: Northbound: H-INBVBC H-TACVBT H-PASEVE H-LVJEVE Southbound: H-VBTABN H-VBTPAS H-EVELVJ There's also an M-EVEEVE that runs from Everett to Interbay and back, usually departing Everett around 9-10 AM and returning 1-3 PM.
Thank you very much for this information! I tend to be down there during daylight, so have seen M-EVEEVE a few times, and H-TACVBT, but now I have some more sleuthing to do!
