    I live in north africa ,3rd world muslim countries they say but I never feel more safe and more respected than here.
    The men here actually have respect for women ,they don't make you uncomfortable by sitting next to you. They understand that you gotta get home early so they leave their place to you .
    My dad and my brother take care of me and provide me with everything they can .
    I wear hijab and go to med school and no one is telling me to take it off .
    Alhamdoullah for being a muslimah 💟

    Very true ya Ustadz! Only liberals and sekulars say those stuff to undergrade Islamic values and to liberate muslim women from our fitrah. And sadly many of muslims have eaten up those craps. Islam doesn't ban girls and women to have education and careers as long as they aren't against Al Qur'an and sunnah. And muslim women should always keep in mind that the best career among the great careers for women outside our homes is to take care of our homes, husbands, and children... 💝🏠

    Subhana'Allah, such a well constructed response brother, if they only knew that Allah through Islam has given rights to women that were not given in 'liberal west' until only a few decades ago or even less, and some not even given lol . To name but a few:
    - Right of inheritance
    - Right to initiate a divorce.
    -To have the final say/ decision when getting married and to chose who to marry
    -Right to teach and be educated ( I.E. Aisha RA and how she was a scholar)
    -Right to give testimony
    - Right to work and operate businesses.
    - The right to chose not to work
    -The right to keep all of her earnings if she wishes ( As the husband is obliged to cover all expenses)and its not obligatory for her to do chores.
    - Right to keep the last name after marriage.
    AlhamduliAllah

    Nothing did more for women's rights in history than Islam. Before Islam came to Arabia, women were not allowed to divorce, own property, bear witness, inherit, etc. Women were forced into marriage and female infants were often buried alive. Islam ended all these practices and established the earliest women's rights recorded in history. Even top feminist figures (Alice Paul, Maud Park, etc) were not able to achieve as much). Early feminists such as Annie Bessant even praised Muhammad(s), despite hating religion!
    Quran 2:228 "Women shall with justice have rights the same as those exercised against them, although men have a degree of responsibility over women."
    Muhammad(s): "Only a vile, dishonorable man humiliates women", “Lucky is the woman whose first child is a daughter”, "Your wives are your partners, not your servants", "Paradise lies beneath your mother's feet",
    Imam Ali (AS): "Women are like flowers. They should be treated gently, kindly, and with affection”, "If a woman cries over a man that oppressed her, angels will curse him with every step he walks"

      You are half as smart as a man and can be beaten just on the suspicion of your husband. He can divorce you with a word, you can only ask for a divorce if you are prepared to abandon your children. There's a reason the worst abuses against women are in Islamic countries.

    why are you trying to make freedom such as variety of choices a bad thing? you mention veriety gives the illusion of freedom and it's restricting people. that's not true. god wants people to be free and have choices. this is confusing message, coming from a muslim....

    • @UTICAMASJID
      @UTICAMASJID  2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      The point was that freedom is not an unqualified good. The proof of that is the societies in which we have loads of freedom and people still aren't happy. In reality there is good freedom (productive) and there is bad freedom (destructive). When anyone begins to talk about Islam "oppressing" people, they are usually concerned with the bad type of freedom. People are used to thinking of freedom in terms of quantity, I would like people to start thinking of freedom in terms of quality.

      Right now the U.S. Supreme Court is about to make a ruling that says in some states women have fewer rights than a corpse when it comes to bodily autonomy. We also have one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the civilized world. Paid maternity (and paternity!) leave is practically nonexistent. It is really the illusion of freedom for women in America. And I speak as an American, a Muslim, and a feminist.

    I don't know if this really hits the mark. The first minute of the video assumes that people levying this claim against Islam also act like the "west" is a "utopia". As someone who also lives in America I challenge anyone who actually claims that. I feel we have a very long way to go in many respects. However, that does not mean women aren't granted *more* flexibility to choose their career and life paths in this country. If a woman wants to pursue medicine and not bear children, she can do so without fearing the social ostracization she would likely face from her conservative religious community in a Muslim-majority country. If she *wants* to raise children as a stay-at-home mom in America, that's also perfectly fine. And the government should provide more for these mothers since, as you correctly said, their contributions are extremely undervalued if they're valued at all. As a progressive I'm not saying anything new.
    Secondly, knowing we have more freedom to make decisions for ourselves is inherently liberating, even if how we exercise this freedom doesn't always make us "happy". What matters isn't the "50-50" /"60-40" chance or whether our satisfaction is "short-term"/"long-term", but the fact that we have this "ability" to begin with. Going back to women, it's important for them to realize this "ability" that men take for granted. An aside, I would be careful with saying "whatever we want" since it kind of sets up a false dichotomy between Islam and a "free-for-all".
    While I, as a democratic socialist, 1000% agree with your critiques about unchecked capitalism, I feel the "glass house" argument only sounds like a whataboutism in light of the central thesis, which should be focused on women. The unreasonable assumption here seems to be that anyone who critiques Islam is a vanguard for the way things currently are in America. This is both a strawman and a black & white fallacy. If you do end up making a video on the specific reasons Islam is not oppressive, I look forward to watching it. Peace

      I thought too before that happiness goes side by side with concept of freedom by west. I was so wrong. I have a stable job now which alot of women dreams of having but i am still not satisfied. I am constantly chasing this mundane world.
      As a woman in her mid 30s, i wish had been brought up in a society where Islam is strictly implemented

    • @TheMarxist92
      @TheMarxist92 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Expatnema The fact that you're not satisfied isn't a problem with the "west", it's about you. Freedom literally means you can choose your own path. If you aren't satisfied with a stable job, you have the option of quitting and doing something else. In a "society where Islam is strictly implemented," you could easily be in a situation where professional aspirations for women aren't even nurtured or encouraged. This "stable job" that a lot of women "dream of having" would remain a "dream".
      If you wish you were brought up in a society where Islam is strictly implemented, then move to one. At least your daughters can live the life you think is so much better than your own. Go to Saudi, Iran, Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, Malaysia, etc. Use the income you get from your stable job (that a lot of women dream of having) to make the transition. Free up the space for women who want your job more than you do. You have the FREEDOM to do so.
