Thank you, Chino's daughter, for letting your Dad use the computer and speak with us. You guys certainly are special, you have been out for literally decades now, and still no one can copy your sound, even when they tried to throw you into the nu-metal band wagon.
The interviewer asked a lot of good questions here and Chino is always a thoughtful and interesting guy to listen to. Great interview. I'm excited for Ohms.
@@carlossousa24 Comsidering the absolute garbage put out by Rock/Metal, Nu-Metal, etc bands today I’ll take that old music all day. Chino & the boys have been putting out music for freaking 25 yrs yet still sounds fresh & relevant. It’s really quite remarkable considering the state of “rock” today.

when he explained about how they don’t try to repeat what they do on past songs etc., they come more organically, that’s my favorite thing about deftones. every song is so unique to one another and for a fan of their sound it’s really rewarding to go through their whole catalogue and finding all these different worlds in each song. chino also being more a fan of instrumental music definitely utilizes his voice in a very instrumental way as well. i find it blends with the music very well and doesn’t tire you out. the band as a whole shines as one entity. amazing stuff and grateful to be a fan. so excited ohms is right around the corner!!! great interview by the way! asked a lot of cool questions. i’ve been watching plenty of deftones concert during quarantine too and getting really into them. started learning some riffs too. so far lhabia is a favorite to play :p
Deftones have been there for me most of my life, whether I’m depressed, happy, angry, and horny. My son who is on the autism spectrum also loves Deftones. Thanks for always being there through thick and thin. I appreciate you. ☮️🌈💫🌹
I remember seeing Chino backstage at the 2003 Summer Sanitarium Tour in SF and he was on a golf cart with his kids. I screamed his name and he looked back and waved. I was 17 and so stoked.
I first listened to these guys around the time of Gore's release, and fell in love with the band. Ohms is my first proper buildup to an album and I can't even tell you how hyped I am. Some great questions asked on here, Chino & Deftones are legendary! 🤘🏻
Deftones will always be in my top 3 fav bands. Ive been playen bass for 30 years now... And these guys are just my go to always... Nothing but love... Deftones will always be their own beauty.
Can’t or haven’t been able to find any Hennessy for the last 2 months or so… ugh the struggle.. believe me I love some fucking DEFTONES AND HENNESSY ❤️❤️🔥🔥
May not be the best musicians in the world, but their sound is completely unique. Listened to Self Titled and SNW back to back last night and it occurred to me how no one else plays guitar like Caprenter , his style is inimitable. And obviously, Chino has a strong personal vocal style.

I have loved this band since I first heard teething in 96. Good God I will always love Deftones!!!! Also, might I add, White Pony dropped on the day I graduated high school.... This is my absolute favorite band
This was such a great interview which led to more intimate questions and answers I’ve always had for the band and Chino. A huge takeaway for me is that they don’t regard themselves as the best musicians and that there are some recognized painful moments in the form of live performances. However, this is trumped by the fact that the group remain best friends and, still to this day, can come together to create beautiful noise that always manages to catch my attention. Can’t wait to hear the new album! Pre-ordered the vinyl, CD, and cassette tapes. I love their music ever since I first heard Teething when it came out which prompted me to purchase Adrenaline and ATF.
Hey that MTV acoustic set with Adam Sandler and Deftones was pretty sweet! I think it was for the Little Nicky movie or something. Also Music in High Places was bad ass!
I was thinking about that as well when he mentioned the promo things they are asked to do. They looked so out of place but it’s far better than doing that boat show Limp Bizkit did.
damn, if u remember that shit ur a true fan... whe sandler played guitars on drive far away, when they almost drove the suv off the cliff... i had that on vhs
Who else has been a fan when Chino had dreads ? I saw them in Oklahoma back in the day and my friend got hit in the face by a flying army boot ! Been a fan ever since.
I cant remember what his hair was like but I saw p.o.d as opening act then deftones for bad brains in San Diego , soma was the venue medium size place all ages show h.r from bad brains didn't show up so chino sang on a couple of songs. Can't remember the year though 🤔
Good interview my dude. Deftones have been my favorite bad for a LONG time. Very much appreciate my life's sound track being the Deftones for a long time.

I have that same Gore banner that Wood has on his door! Remember finding his fantastic podcast through this interview and went back through it and followed him on socials. Asks great questions, has had awesome people on the podcast and so much deftones goodness. Super based dude
Deftones is my favorite band. They have so much soul/emotion behind their songs. It expands beyond genre. Chino is top 5 in the alternative frontmen catagory as well... 1. HR 2. Patton 3. Chino ...Anslemo right behind
Great interview.. anything Chino or deftones in general is always interesting. I liked gore, aside from it sounding like it was produced in a garage.. lol. But a new album is always different so I’m so fuuuuggin excited to spend hours and hours listening over and over like I do all their stuff. Can. Not. Wait. This album is exactly what 2020 needs.
Chino just whisper-screaming around the home, avoiding stealing his daughter’s bandwidth and shit is just hilarious 😆. Especially the thought of him imagining a song and “whisper-screaming” at 2am while his family sleeps or something 😆
Also....Chino's looking good! He always seems to change....I know weight issues have always been a thing. So it's nice to see him looking pretty healthy and fit. Good for him. :)
i been seeing people talk about deftones like its music for 40 year olds or something lmaoo, im a junior in high school, 16 about to turn 17 and i fucking love deftones.
Artful music that slaps, fuck yes. Around The Fur came out the same year as Portishead which was when my eldest was still in utero. I will never forget pissing my his Mom off blasting My Own Summer. Man man ... it would be a dream come true ... to meet him in person and sings a few songs for me off from the " WHITEPONY ALBUM " I'm the biggest fan #1
Clearly going back to basics with just chino, Stephen, and Abe was a fantastic idea! Gore wasn’t a “bad” album but it definitely felt disjointed like Chino said. It didn’t feel like the trio was all in sync.
The one thing about this pandemic I find interesting is a peek into their personal lives and homes. I didn’t even know he had a daughter and just the thought of him teaching his kid school work. It really grounds these people.
ikr?!? The Ohms song left me feeling kinda iffy. It's funny, Terry Date was interviewed and actually said he was confused why they released Ohms as the lead single....as he thought it was one of, if not the, weakest song on the album. But then I heard Genesis.....and it totally hooked me. Excellent song!
Speaking of awesome merch: The Texas exclusive White Pony tour shirt that encompassed the Texas flag inside the silhouette of the pony logo...Can anyone tell me where I can get one?
