Since experiences are different for everybody it actually surprised me how the pace was for me, I've complained about long movies like It chapter 2 and even endgame. I completely agree. Being someone who has grown up on the comics and the batman animated series. And I didn't get that with the previous versions but this one is by far my favorite one and I am pretty picky on my comic book films.
I saw the movie last night for the Early Fans Screening, and it was amazing!! And I'm with you Cody, that Batmobile was fire! The batmobile chase scene was so good.
23:17 you hit the nail on the head with that comment, to me this film did exactly what I hoped it would do and is probably my favorite Batman film. On top of the cast and crew involved and the look of the film, the Riddler in that first trailer is what hooked me, I went in thinking this would be a very unhinged character, but I wasn't prepared for how unhinged he'd be. His opening scene gave me shades of Leatherface and Billy from Black Christmas. This film got a 15 here in the UK (basically an R-rating but if you're under 15 you can't go) and it completely earned it for me without feeling excessive with the violence, instead it was the maturity of the story that earned the rating, from the first trailer it was clear to me that this isn't a film for kids. I was fine with the Bruce Wayne depiction since as you said he's still an evolving character, seeing as his whole arc in the film is focused around him coming to terms with what Batman needs to be, it makes sense that the same would be true for Bruce's public persona. Plus there was never a moment for me where the public Bruce Wayne persona we all are used to would've fit or was needed. I've seen it twice and didn't mind the runtime, about ten minutes in I settled into the pacing and the big finale added much needed energy to help it not feel drawn out, but it also didn't go overboard either like some other comic book films do in the third act. I agree about the wink and nod moment being unnecessary, or at the very least I would've liked it more if it was maybe something different that was teased. I guess it depends on what direction they go with it. Still, great review man.
I had a fan experience & an opportunity to watch the Batman. What an awesome introduction to an even more grounded, young, and restless Bruce Wayne. With only two years for young Batman, the film is dark, it’s gritty and it’s all about the detective work. This is why we all love Batman because he has so many layers upon layers to explore. Matt Reeves just revolutionized the Riddler. Paul Dano was amazing, pretty much every cast is amazing. What I really like is that the film shows us how young Batman is scared to even fly off high-rise buildings still, but also throws out his body with no hesitation to enemy bullets, sometimes not being able to control his anger during a fight. He gets shot in the chest, punched in the head, and doesn’t give in. But above all it haunts him to see anyone get hurt because he’s still affected by the death of his parents. The cinematography is amazing, and boy the city of Gotham is just on another level. You’ll get scared to even pass by the city let alone live there. Shows the true nature of corruption and political deceives. Reeves created a unique Batman set just as Nolan’s was different than Tim Burton, as well as for Zack Snyders Batman. Each director builds their own unique elements and universe for Batman. Perhaps the greatest advantage is that character Batman is so versatile and any director can interpret it based on the excellent comic books written. DC needs to focus on these kinds of movies because honestly, they’re just perfect. I’m hoping we will get another amazing trilogy if it continues like this. My respects to all the previous and current directors for giving us different types of Batman. I really like all the Batman iterations since 2005. (Baleman, Batfleck. & Battison).
The YT algorithm will never cease to amaze me. I’m a huge horror fan, watch scary shit on YT all the time … and yet, your channel wasn’t recommended to me until you did your The Batman review (also my most anticipated and still favorite movie of 2022.) I saw it Tuesday and it was absolutely phenomenal. I was a massive fan of Paul dano in the film there will be blood and Robert has always had a good range as an actor. I am so happy that Robert wants to do a trilogy and more 🤘
Great review! I honestly liked it better than Dark Knight.. I thought the movie looked better.. great used of the shadows and dark areas.. the score and soundtrack was better.. and honestly.. i like Pattinson's Batman more.. whenever he would punch someone.. it seemed like it really hurt haha.. Just the way this movie felt was just right up my alley. My main negative was the car chase scene. Was I the only one who thought it wasn't filmed that great? The camera jumped around too much and it was hard to tell what was going on half the time. I wished they could of shown more zoomed out shots of that chase. Overall.. I LOVED The Batman.
Just bought on digital yesterday. So while I can say it was no the dark knight, I absolutely loved it, in fact this movie captures everything you expect in a Batman movie perfectly and then some. I can’t wait to see where this universe takes the character but I’m all for more.
Bro nice IM shirt! I actually seen them on the Book of Souls tour and have that same shirt as well! But dude I'm glad you dug this live. I'm so excited for it.
Unfortunately had to wait til today to finally see it and my god it's everything you could ever ask for in a batman movie. It didnt even feel like 3hrs, i was hooked the entire time. Just soooo much to love about it. Can definitely agree that the score didnt hit right in some scenes but it didnt really affect the scenes all that much. The opening was so well done, the first 10 minutes let you know that Matt Reeves has a true understanding of what the batman character is and that continued throughout the full film. Bruce being portrayed the way he is didn't bother me, seeing a Bruce Wayne in his traditional sense wouldn't have worked all that well for the story being told. I can see them giving us hints of Bruce helping rebuild gotham in the gothem pd and oenguin series and then by the time the next film comes out we see Bruce being a little more of what Bruce is. All in all an excellent film 5/5 for sure.

The one thing i was definitely curious about was Collins interpretation of the Penguin, and hearing you say that just gets me more excited, and just to see the movie overall is exciting...can't wait for this weekend
What a fucking hero... he has been waiting...along with ens of MILLIONS OF PEOPLE FOR THE SAME MOVIE...no but he has been waiting...people are dying at war right now and this hero needs some praise because he has been waiting. ladies and gentlemen, we have our hero of the decades, the one who has been waiting!!!
A few things about this movie: - it's really immersive. The first person shots really make it feel like you are in the movie - Gotham: this feels like the Gotham city of the comics, a dirty run down city ridden with crime - Bruce disguising himself while on patrol. It's something we haven't seen before in live action The only negative I have is that the 3rd act does feel too chaotic to fit with the noir style it has throughout most of its runtime. Aside from that it's a solid 4.5/5
I’m happy to hear someone else wasn’t a fan of the tonal shift of the end of the movie, I was hoping for a more fitting end to the serial killer side of riddler, not turning him into a political terrorist
Awesome ! Glad you enjoyed this man , great review. I'm very excited for this movie. Batman is my favorite comic book character so more batman the better. I hope that this movie does great cause I wanna see more bat family movies like Batgirl that I'm excited for but mainly I wanna see Nightwing and red hood.
there were a few adults who left the theater because they were so disturbed by Paul Dano's portrayal of The Riddler there were a few scenes that were incredibly dark this one is definitely not for the kids 👍👍👍
Just going through a bunch of reviews of this movie in anticipation of seeing in this Friday. This is the first movie I'll be seeing in theaters since the pandemic started
I agree on all the positives you have. I actually didn't feel the runtime at all, I would have happily stayed an extra hour for some more character development. The action was fantastic, the cinematography is riveting and the cast and characters are awesome. I also loved the story and the Jigsaw and Se7en vibes this movie gave me. However, my one big negative in this film is actually Bruce Wayne, it really bugged me he wasn't really a person, he was just Batman without a cape. I mean, sure, it's a new interpretation and whatnot, but I still felt like I needed Bruce to be in the movie, to have some caracterization and development for me to be able to emotionally connect with him. Bruce didn't have an ark in this film, Batman did. This is where someone like Alfred might have stepped in and told him like " Dude, you're still a person, you can't negate who you are to fully become this vigilante". It makes him feel a bit one-dimensional for me. I'd give the movie an A- because of this, the rest of it was fucking amazing. I definitely agree we didn't need that wink and nod at the end and I found the Riddler's last step in his plan to be just a little bit ridiculous
I totally understand your viewpoint with the critique of Bruce Wayne as a person, but I felt it worked for this narrative and I do believe he had an arc in this movie. The scene midway through with Alfred signified that change for me, and then of course the entire third act really solidified for me that Bruce will fully come into perspective in the sequel, and that this movie was all about laying the groundwork.
@@msacca I agree that this film was more about laying the groundwork, but I feel like that growth he has in the third act is Batman's growth from who he was in the beggining to who he will be from now on, not Bruce's growth. I sure hope the sequel will dig deeper into Bruce Wayne and set him up as a human being, not the guy who dresses up in a cape and cowl and fights crimes at night
my all time fav BATMAN is voiced by Kevin Conroy in the original 90's animated series , conroy just nails that voice and for me he will always my fav. Live action - Batfleck 💖
Mmmmm correction> the Schumacher films are actually in canon with Burton's films. Same Alfred, same Commish Gordon. They're always grouped together in a set.
Great review! Going to see it today, Friday and Saturday! Seeing it again Friday after I have processed it the first time, so I can appreciate it more on my second view and Saturday because my son and I are going to see it together! He works all week and it’s the day his schedule is open to go! We can’t wait! Again I appreciate your review!
Something that really bothers me about BvS is that Batman's such a horrible detective. Like when we see Bruce looking up to the sky and seeing Zod and Superman fighting as the city is destroyed. That's the scene Snyder gives you to try and understand Batman's point of view. But I could never believe Batman is that dumb. The worlds greatest detective couldn't figure out Superman saved the entire planet? The fact he instantly determines he needs to murder the guy who just saved the world is pretty contrived.
Hey,Cody!I just got around to seeing this movie two days ago and I loved it!IMO,It's one of the best Batman movies that I've seen,so far!Good job,Matt Reeves and everyone involved in making this movie!I'm looking forward to all the sequeals!
This review is very well articulated. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m excited to see it. I still think TDK will be my favorite (because of Heath Ledger’s Joker obviously.) but I feel like this movie will easily be my 2nd favorite based on your review.
I hope if they do more of these movies that they don't just jump right into the joker for a sequel. This universe deserves to flesh out other batman villains in a more serious tone. I wanna see Hush, Mr freeze, scarecrow, bane, two face, black mask; in this universe. And then get joker involved later on
Ecstatic to hear your thoughts man! My explanation for him not really putting on the bigger Bruce Wayne personality facade ties into how raw, reckless and just angry he is as Batman. I just think it’s a part of not caring about finessing that yet. Could come with sequels.
Great stuff. To be honest, you got my attention because of the length of the video. But , great review, exactly what i was looking for. And i loved the movie, it's pretty dark but i was smiling like a little kid when certain scenes came on, first reveal of the Batmobile being one of them. Without any hate towards the rest, this instantly became my favorite live action Batman movie, it gave that great feeling as in some of the darker story arcs from the comics. It felt just right.
your comment about Adam West is interesting; I actually think Reeves HAS given us a few subtle nods to that era; I've laughed at several trailers and clips, especially the punch / run awkwardly through corridor / slow grappling hook scene; I feel like Reeves' courage to make that "exit" messy and a bit campy was great; also stuff like the "you got a lotta cats" exchange; yeah, I'm primarily a West / Keaton era fan and I'm looking forward to this movie
This is THE perfect Batman movie. I saw it last night and not only did it live up to the hype it SURPASSED IT!! I absolutely loved all 180 minutes of this film! Also if you haven’t seen it yet don’t forget to stay till the very very end of the credits 😉

That intro was 🔥
the battison is the best betman so far don't @ me
The YT algorithm will never cease to amaze me. I’m a huge horror fan, watch scary shit on YT all the time … and yet, your channel wasn’t recommended to me until you did your The Batman review (also my most anticipated and still favorite movie of 2022.) Since then, I’ve been binging your channel. Great content- glad I finally found it. Subscribed!
I am so glad I found you because of BCS, and love going back thru your videos that I missed!
Yo, that laugh at the beginning sounded like Chucky. This should be interesting.
I saw it Tuesday and it was absolutely phenomenal.
That intro alone to this video got my attention.
Just left the theatre few hours ago. Loved it, & I agree with everything you said - including the mixed & negative.
That laugh at the beginning was GOLD!
I'm planning on seeing it on Saturday I'm so excited
Seen it tonight, my god, this is now my favorite Batman film. It was everything I ever wanted. This is a masterpiece. 11/10
THE BATMAN WAS FANTASTIC I CAN'T WAIT FOR PART TWO 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love the review brother, absolutely cannot wait to see this in theaters, I’ve been sooo hyped for it
Batman 1 = Vengeance
Batman 2 = Justice
Batman 3 = Batman
How i imagine the trilogy playing out
Always wanted A Long Halloween, Hush Batman and Riddler. Can't wait to see it My kind of Batman movie. Hope you do a spoiler podcast style video about this movie
This is the version I have been waiting for. This darker version is my favorite version in the comics and I’m so ready to see it
“Twilight guy?”
“No bitch, Good Time guy.”
🔥🔥
Can't wait to watch this film!!
The one thing i was definitely curious about was Collins interpretation of the Penguin, and hearing you say that just gets me more excited, and just to see the movie overall is exciting...can't wait for this weekend
This review has me so amped for this movie now!!
Video starts and Cody is villain laughing
This is gonna be good
That Arkham City thing you said was so on point! I swear I had the same exact journey, same game and everything. Wild.
Matt Reeves did an excellent remake of Let The Right One In and the name of that excellent remake is named Let Me In
1. (0:00-0:13)
*Perfect Joker laugh!*
2. (23:45-24:23)
Straight facts, especially after Spider-Man: No Way Home!
I LOVED it. The batmobile chase was my favorite!
Looking forward to it! Stoked to hear such positive feedback. Sounds visceral.
That intro😂😂😂 spot on
100% agree with music editing of the score. Was extremely distracted with the overuse of that part of the score.
A few things about this movie:
- it's really immersive. The first person shots really make it feel like you are in the movie
- Gotham: this feels like the Gotham city of the comics, a dirty run down city ridden with crime
- Bruce disguising himself while on patrol. It's something we haven't seen before in live action
The only negative I have is that the 3rd act does feel too chaotic to fit with the noir style it has throughout most of its runtime.
Cody’s laugh sounds like the Joker
Kind of the intention lol
@@CodyLeachYT I know
10/10 would highly recommend, I live it all the way through and I’m gonna see it again with friends
It felt like a classic story pulled straight from a Batman stand alone comic and I love it
I’m so EXCITED and I cannot HIDE IT!! lol
there were a few adults who left the theater because they were so disturbed by Paul Dano's portrayal of The Riddler there were a few scenes that were incredibly dark this one is definitely not for the kids 👍👍👍
When Batman started that engine to the bat mobile the look on everyone’s faces told the whole story I loved that part in the movie
damn that intro was something else lol
That was an awesome opening

Cody’s inner Joker unleashed
I’m a Simple man. You upload, I watch.
my all time fav BATMAN is voiced by Kevin Conroy in the original 90's animated series , conroy just nails that voice and for me he will always my fav.
Live action - Batfleck 💖
Mmmmm correction> the Schumacher films are actually in canon with Burton's films. Same Alfred, same Commish Gordon. They're always grouped together in a set.
Cool. Stylistically they have NOTHING in common...which is obviously what I was referring to.
A Batman movie where he’s doing actual detective work? Sign me up.

And then get joker involved later on
I absolutely love the movie Saw it yesterday, it's my most favorite movie of all time
Yo, that joker laugh was spot on
Ecstatic to hear your thoughts man!
It felt just right.
your comment about Adam West is interesting; I actually think Reeves HAS given us a few subtle nods to that era; I've laughed at several trailers and clips, especially the punch / run awkwardly through corridor / slow grappling hook scene; I feel like Reeves' courage to make that "exit" messy and a bit campy was great; also stuff like the "you got a lotta cats" exchange; yeah, I'm primarily a West / Keaton era fan and I'm looking forward to this movie
also I saw someone refer to a giant magnifying glass he carries?
This is THE perfect Batman movie. I saw it last night and not only did it live up to the hype it SURPASSED IT!! I absolutely loved all 180 minutes of this film! Also if you haven’t seen it yet don’t forget to stay till the very very end of the credits 😉
