I have three Canon R5 II cameras and have shot video on them four times now. I only shoot video. Originally I purchased Lexar Diamond series cards. All 3 of my cameras rejected 4 out of the 5 cards I bought. The cameras wouldn't acknowledge them or allow me to format them. Turns out LOTS of other people had problems with the Lexar Diamond and Gold cards. So I took those back and purchased 5 of the SanDisk 256GB PRO-CINEMA CFexpress Type B Memory Cards and have had ZERO problems with them. Hope this helps :)
Hey John, loved your video. Appreciate the thorough guide. I wanted to ask how does the movie crop look like? I have some super 35 cinema lenses and wanted use them on R5M2 (when I buy it). What can I shoot in that mode? Is it gonna be oversampled 4k from 8k or not? What am I gonna lose as compared to full frame video options?
10:25 mins : "...this will just help me keep my horizon straight when I'm shooting". Well, unfortunately, as soon as you ht 'record' the electronic level indicator disappears. 😕
If you're using the free version, it does not work with 4k and .mxf files if I remember correctly. The paid version allows importing and editing of files that are greater than HD.
you really spent a lot of time in the first two or three minutes talking about yourself and your experience. Why not just get to the point of the matter and you’ll get more thumbs up and a lot more views
Great video John. For some reasons, I don't have the cooling fan settings in my menu. What's wrong with my camera? :)
You have to have the cooling grip.
Thanks!
@@JohnGress Okay, that makes sense - I didn't know. Many thanks!

Great video as usual, John!

Is it possible to make a custom button for a false color?
Thank you very much for this video! Do you mind if I ask what you recommend for a memory card suitable for 4K video on this camera? Thanks!
Thank you! I use the SD cards howl.me/cm6COfU5KFU and these CFExpress cards amzn.to/3Xvh5o6

Thank you so much! Sorry I didn’t study that part of the usage of this camera but I think that information might have been in Gerald Undones video.
@@JohnGress thanks for the advice. Will check out his video!

I guess you can see. I shoot on a tripod too much. Well that’s stupid!
Okay so I try to bring video into Davinci Resolve and I only see Audio... Whats going on?
I don't use that program, so you should consult a Davinci Resolve tutorial.
