Yes!!! ❤ I agree 💯. If I saw this Bookmobile 📚📖 cooking down 👇 the street, I would run up to it immediately!!!! Such a cute idea Ariel!!!! Keep up the good work 💪🏻💯. ❤
Well one thing's certain, you have the perfect personality for running a Bookmobile, your light hearted, positive enthusiasm is perfect for running such a thing.
Well, I think I'd be more ready for an update about the 'hidden room' to be honest 😅 I wanna know how it all works out structurally and when she's going to start working on it.
I can’t help imagining the seller and his wife raving just as much about how cool the woman buying their truck is, she’s going to turn it into a bookshop, can you believe it?! 💖 I’m so excited to watch this new chapter, you really are living out our dreams!
Mini trucks are just AWESOME. I've been looking at them and it's many times cheaper than buying an ATV/UTV if you need to use it for work on the property.
In my mind we are already Kindred Spirits... but this. This just took it over the edge! ❤ I also just turned 30 and am so excited to move into a new season of life. So excited to see this project and all your others. I LOVE how you are honest and share when things don't work out or go as planned too... internet has a tendency to make it feel like everything happens overnight, which is just not the case. Sincerely a fellow book lover, daydreamer, old house and diy lover and (basically) Canadian (from MI and lived in The Soo on the state side for years). Hope we can be internet friends 😂🎉
Ariel, I think you are fabulous! I wish I had done so many things that were close to my heart in my 20's. All the power to you. I think it will be a super fun project and very very cool. I can't wait to see how you tackle this truck.
I'm so glad you're doing this! I just filled up a local free little library with kids books we had lying around and I think you could set something up to accept book donations from people trying to downsize. Maybe through fb marketplace, so you could pick them up locally with the book truck. Just a thought! I'm excited for you :)
This is a really fun project. I have a question since you were going to be making a small bookshop in a truck that is movable. I suppose there are certain permits that you need to get for a business? By the way you are adulting so much better than me. And you have so much patience! Seriously 😂❤
I don't usually comment on videos, but when my wife and I watched this yesterday, I literally went "Oh hell yeah!" when the video started. Being a former resident of Halifax, let me tell you: this thing is going to DESTROY at farmer's markets, parking lot pop-ups, etc. Thing thing has STRONG East Coast energy. I love it!
There's an independent book store in Edmonton called Daisy Chain Books that started out as a book truck and now has two brick and mortar locations. It is so very doable!! What an adventure!!
I've been to Daisy Chain in Edmonton but won't shop there again as their used books are the same price that Indigo charges for brand new books. I prefer Wee Book Inn for used books.
My dad was a library bookmobile driver, and then manager, for most of my childhood and adult life! He only just recently changed to being the branch manager of a tiny library instead, in a mall (mostly because driving in winter in BC is getting to be too stressful for him). I just wanted to say that I LOVE that you’re doing this and every time you say Bookmobile it reminds me of my dad, which is also lovely.
It’s encouraging for other young people ( and all of us) to see you pushing through the bureaucratic hurdles. It’s a level of “adulting” that, thank God, we don’t have to do every day! You did it!
As a 24 yr old English man , I've been into this channel for the house Reno content, and now a kei truck into the mix? Ticking every box for me I absolutely love it
I am from Colombia and the proud I felt when you mentioned the man where you got inspired from is amazing because not many people know that, loving the content and the vibes you give to the videos!!!
I love how much you talk about your clothing! It’s something all of us (women especially) think so much about and I love hearing you voice it out loud.. wearing the professional outfit to be taken seriously and then putting on jeans and sneakers when you need to be ready for anything! I just love it
After hearing your motor vehicle registry story, I must tell you the tale of trying to get my Maryland driver's license. Moved from CA to NY. Got married in NY, changed my last name, changed it on my license. Moved to MD. Tried to transfer my NY license to MD. Had not yet changed my name on my social security card/account - not required in NY. Could not change license in MD without social security card matching. Could not change social security card without license matching. Had to laugh-cry hysterically at the social security office with multiple other forms of identification in hand that were "unacceptable", you know, like a birth certificate and a marriage certificate. Lady finally took pity on me and fixed it.
How funny, today I finished reading a book called 'The Book Shop Book' all about different Book shops, book mobiles etc people have made. It was a great book and I highly recommend it. This is so exciting, can't wait for the progress reports.
If you can, add a roof onto the frame and a way to attach tarps on the sides to protect those books in case you get sudden maritime rains on your bookventures and need a quick cover up! I can't wait to see the bookmobile process, Ariel!😊
It would be so cool if you got one of those custom book embosser stamps and stamped the book with your business logo and maybe wrote a little personal message in the books like I hope you love it as much as I did, and sign it. I feel like it would be a way to incorporate your existing fan base into your business and as someone who lives in NB I would 10/10 drive to NS for a signed book from your truck 🤩
I wonder if the seller had either gone through this when he bought the vehicle or with other potential buyers who gave up when it got hard. I'm thinking that is why he was so chill. Either way ppl like that just make life a little bit nicer.
A lot of my friends have said this to me and I feel like I must be doing something right if "buying a minitruck to convert into a bookmobile" is an "Ariel" thing to do!!!!! 🙈
I loved when you switched your fun coat to your business coat and then waked in to Access places with your floral folder! That looked like fun times to me! I love your channel… you are so driven yet so chilled!😊
Funnish fact, my grandparents converted a bookmobile into a spare bedroom parkedway out the back of their house. It was an amazing playhouse. It had these great built in shelves and a little seating area. This was in the 70s. My uncle lives on their property now so I haven't been there in ages, but I think his son used it as his room in the 2000s. I love a bookmobile. We used to live a bit far from our library so I took my kids to ours every week. We moved out of that neighborhood in 2017 and just last year they opened a new library practically in our old backyard! Made me regret moving, for sure!
This reminds me so much of the library busses we have in some places here in Sweden! Our public libraries would have converted library busses act like icecream trucks and on certain days drive around and park in specific places for a set amount of time. It is wonderful and was very exciting as a kid! Thank you for reminding me of one of my favourite things from my childhood! Love from Sweden!
Use color coded boxes for the books. You don't have a garage so you will need to unload everything nearly every time you use the truck. Look at how books are sold at markets in Europe and antique markets.
Your experience with insurance sounds so similar to issues I’ve been having with healthcare. A good customer service person can change your experience so much. I am the type of person who is as helpful as I can be to others and it’s frustrating when others are so unfriendly and unhelpful. You should check with your new insurance lady and see if you can bundle your other insurances with them. Many times when you bundle you get better rates and they have already proven to have better customer service. The bookmobile is going to be so cute! Can’t wait to see it all come together.
STOP IT 🥹💔 It’s so cute !!!!! And your historical/cultural context omg you are doing ALL the right things. Very excited to see where all of this takes you.
Well done you!! My husband and I run a Free Little Library and it is the most satisfying thing ever! We especially love the children who keep coming back for more books. You are amazing and I look forward to all your wonderful content.
There’s a yarn store in Nova Scotia called Tracy’s Rolling yarn shop and this reminds me of that so much she posts calendars of where she will be and when she won’t travel because of storms
My heart leapt when I saw this! I do love this tradition, the burro librarians and the trucks taking books to the people. It’s so you. I pictured shelves of books on each side of the truck cascading down from the frame. And covers to close them up against the weather.
I appreciate that you showed all the difficulty you faced in buying this cute lil guy. I think a lot of youtubers gloss over the hard stuff which puts out an unrealistic image of making major purchases as being easy, but I really felt your struggle and frustration over all the hoops you had to jump through!
Girl you’ll be living the dream when this bookmobile is up and running!! I was proud of the little free library I put up at my cabin last summer but you’ve taken a love of books, to a whole new level!
Such a beautiful example of the Zen saying, "The obstacle IS the path." Love it. What a wonderful spirit you carried through this adventure. No stopping you now! Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar. ~Antonio Machado
Hi there Ariel! Been watching your videos for years but don't leave comments usually. You convey so much enthusiasm and joy about the things you love and life in general that’s truly inspiring! So yeah, glad that a person such as you has the means and gets the opportunities to try so many projects and realize all these dreams. Hope you’re having a beautiful day and I’m excited to see where this new renovation journey gets you! Cheers!
I cannot stress enough how much I loved this video. I smiled through the whole thing. Thank you for being you. Looking forward to an update on your progress. ❤
Love what you are doing. I live in the pacific north west and those kei trucks are adorable and very practical for out tight off-road trails. To maximize the payload capacity, consider aluminum extrusion or 2x2 woo. The overland community have plenty of builds for you. I have a truck and a pop up camper. Love your content.
I'm obsessed with your creative mind! Never have I resonated more with the urge to take on an insane (yet concrete) dream. So excited to see what you do with this thing!!
Having rented a space for my business, this is ridiculously genius. A space you can control and own…and not have to worry about being “elsewhere.” GENIUS.
First, the truck is adorable. Second, your just absolute pure joy made my whole day. I am excited to see this project come to fruition. Congrats on this new side quest!
I don’t know if you’ve read it but you should 110% read Parnassus on Wheels! It’s a classic western surrounding a ‘spinster’ woman who’s fed up of her farmer brother and so she buys a book wagon!
WOO! It is so wild to watch a TH-cam video featuring all the areas of my hometown! I look forward to running into your functioning bookmobile soon, Ariel! It will be a great addition to our quirky city.
Crossing the bridge reminded me my visit to nova scotia last summer! How lovely and privileged your city is to have you, couldn't think of a more Ariel thing to do- spread joy and happiness through books!
OMG FIRST I have warmed some lovely soup after going to an event about climate change and buying two new books, I am feeling so excited and curious about the world, and I open TH-cam to find just the perfect video to watch right now. So excited!
This is an absolutely brilliant idea and I'm so excited to see what you make of it! Appreciate you taking us along the admin steps of the journey because that can be so frustrating and it's energizing watching you tackle those roadblocks with optimism.
Ariel this is so validating hahaha! I just had to get a new car unexpectedly and gawked at the price to transfer the registration from the seller to myself - $600 AUD - and I just yelled 'what?!' at my computer screen.
A) This is super exciting! and B) As an "Admin" I feel you. Believe most admins don't want to be a pain in the ass. We'd love to just be like "sign, stamp, done, next" but unforunately its the policies and procedures for the companies we work for that hinder a lot of that. At the end of the day, as an Admin I don't want to get in trouble for checking every box and dotting every i (cause my boss will get me). Regardless, people don't have to be jerks about it all. I'm definteily one of those admins that like "girl let's figure this shit out. It may take me a bit but we'll get there". I'd rather be open and up-front that its a balance of pleasing the client and the "power that be".
so many amazing little bookshops have closed in NS in the past ten years, this is exactly the energy we need in the region!! wishing you all of the success with this and looking forward to buying books from you! 😊❤🎉
This is the most wholesome shit I've seen all day. 🙌 The sheer joy about your tiny Japanese truck, how cute the store will be, and the almost-tears thinking of book lovers of yore is SO GOOD. 😍🥰
I was so stressed all day yesterday and went searching for a new video from you because it always seems to magically drop right around the time I need it most and I am once again proven correct. The universe hears my call for sweet sweet Ariel content to brighten my life. 😍
OH MY GOD ARIEL THE TRUCK IS THE CUTEST, so fucking exciting!!!! eww the process sounded so much hell but so glad the worst(??) is over now lol okay time for road trip to collect books all around the world also we'll also need a christening for the name of this lil Japanese truck too!!
I love this project! I live in Southern California and in the 1970’s we had Helm’s bakery truck. If you talk to any kid about it we loved the drawers and cubbies as much as the donuts, bread and the like. I hope this happens for all your future readers. Plus I loved reading Nancy Drew mysteries as a kid. You’re going to make memories for so many. Congratulations on your mini truck!
Ariel, this is, and I cannot stress this enough, EXACTLY the content I want to see in these trying times. ❤ Thank you, lovely internet friend.
I’m so excited to share this whole jolly adventure with you ♥️
This exactly, what a lovely corner of the internet to be in.

Were a couple scenes in this video recorded at a different location? It didn't look like Ariel's house.

This is the most wholesome shit I've seen all day. 🙌 The sheer joy about your tiny Japanese truck, how cute the store will be, and the almost-tears thinking of book lovers of yore is SO GOOD. 😍🥰
I agree. It was a shitty day. But I'm smiling now!
When I saw the thumbnail I felt this aggressive "it's so fluffy" energy :D yeeeessss!
I was so stressed all day yesterday and went searching for a new video from you because it always seems to magically drop right around the time I need it most and I am once again proven correct. The universe hears my call for sweet sweet Ariel content to brighten my life. 😍
OH MY GOD ARIEL THE TRUCK IS THE CUTEST, so fucking exciting!!!!
eww the process sounded so much hell but so glad the worst(??) is over now lol
okay time for road trip to collect books all around the world
also we'll also need a christening for the name of this lil Japanese truck too!!
Nancy Drew and the Babysitters Club are the exact reasons im such a proud bookworm 😍 love seeing others raised on it as well!
