TRIANA Quiero contarte • TRIANA Quiero contar...
Triana was a Spanish progressive rock band formed in 1974 in Seville, Andalusia. The band consisted of Jess de la Rosa Luque (vocals, keyboards), Eduardo Rodrguez Rodway (vocals, guitar), and Juan José Palacios "Tele" (drums, percussion). Their debut album, El patio, was a seminal blend of flamenco and progrock and paved the way for flamenco-inspired progrock in Spain. Triana disbanded in 1983 but reformed from 1994 to 2002 and again since 2007. They are considered the most legendary progressive rock band in Spain.

Nuestros Led Zeppelin particulares. Gracias amigo. 🇪🇸
The best music band in Spain history by far
I can see why! I really love their sound looking forward to checking out more!
I'm from Seville, a city of the Triana group. The singer was born in Calle Feria, in the Macarena neighborhood. He died in 1983 while going to a charity performance due to rains and floods in Bilbao (northern Spain). That solidarity musical performance ended, and on the way back in his car, at a crossroads, the accident happened. He didn't die instantly, no, he arrived at the hospital conscious but having left the musical keyboard in the back seat of his Citroen Bx, he hit the musical keyboard. The group no longer acted according to a secret pact between them. Then the musician who played the drums 20 years later wanted to recover the group that the former guitarist (the man in the orange shirt) never wanted, that the group return with the name Triana or its members because of that secret pact signed between them, but there are no documents of it. For me, a citizen of Seville, the city of the Triana group, it has been the greatest example of Andalusian rock. Today is the public holiday of the region of Andalusia (28 febrero)
I have been learning more and more of how Spain is laid out through its incredible music! Such an amazing culture rich with art and music! I'm looking forward to learning more about all the amazing music from region to region!
Triana was the best mixing flamenco and psy/prog rock. The first ones were the band Smash in the side-A from the album "Vanguardia y Pureza del Flamenco" (avantgarde and purity of flamenco).
Yeah I really dig these guys and I am looking forward to checking out more from them!
I believe Triana was inspired by the Pink Floyd song "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". They must have thought: if these guys can make this fussion with arabic music, we can do it with flamenco. Actually, their first hit "Abre la Puerta" (from january 1975, some months before PF released "Wish you were here) has some reminiscence of that early Floyd music. They also have some King Crimson vibes, as well as from some other bands of the time.
Absolutely! I believe I mentioned King Crimson in another video I just did about Triana, I really love their mix of sounds and how it all comes together!
Feel free to post any links you think would be best. I am having trouble finding some of these requests for Triana and I would love to see them! I love the sound of this band and want to learn more about them!
Si.
Thank you, I try to appreciate and take inspiration for music of all types! It is also a great way to learn about different cultures!
Triana es lo mejor de lo mejor. Felicidades por descubrirlo 👍🏼
Triana, el lago, especial😊
BRUTAL! You're right when you say that they have certain influence from prog bands, but in an interview they said they were doing the music they really felt and they didn't have anything to do with anglo-saxon - American or British - styles, there's where you find this music familiar in a strange way. They were doing Sevillian Rock, far from other Spanish groups who were really influenced by foreign music and adapting their styles to the mainstream. Triana stayed away from those influences and dug into their own nature, let's say flamenco, but they're not flamenco either. They are Triana.
Greetings! 🤘
Greetings! Yeah I really dig their sound! I should have been more clear when I was talking about influence because I meant that bands in the states probably got influence from them. The only reason I put them in the Flamenco playlist is because of the Flamenco elements but you are correct that they are not an actual Flamenco style band. I am really looking forward to hearing more from the wealth of music they have left for us to enjoy and be inspired by!
@@TheKillogicEffect Thanks for your reply. You're absolutely right including them into Flamenco! Triana never despised the genre, on the contrary, they settled the basis to a new sub-genre: Rock Andaluz. In fact they could fit in any list from the 60's-70's or 80's: prog, psychedelic, some pop, symphonic rock... Always learning from those who were first, but sieving the essence and composing new horizons for people who, unfortunately, had to live under a dictatorship - but that's another story-.
Let me observe that you're in the right direction!
Great this channel of yours, congrats.
Grandes Triana !!
They have such an iconic sound of the era for sure!
triana, abre la puerta , magistral..
The drummer’s name was Juan Jose Palacios nicknamed Tele. And the flammable shirt guitarist, the only one still alive Eduardo Rodriguez Rodway.
The track title is Quiero Contarte from the album Sombra y luz.
Triana, a legendary band that does not stand still in time, new generations continue to enjoy their great creations. For me the two most progressive albums are: Hijos del Agobio and Sombra y Luz. El Patio It is undoubtedly a masterpiece that is difficult to label in a particular style, although with influences, it covers so much that one could speak of a new style.
Absolutely! I am going to be checking out more from them for sure!
Absolutely! I am going to be checking out more from them for sure!
Simplemente los mas grandes
Ooohhh!! I'm so excited to watch this!! I have been thinking about writting you and proposing this group for some time, glad you arrived at it anyhow! Next one should be "Abre la puerta", you'll love it!
I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did I'm looking forward to checking out more of them thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it and I will be checking that out for sure!!!!
@@TheKillogicEffect of course I did!! This is my father's favourite group. I spent my childhood listening to their cassettes on the road trips. :)
Great channel man!! Keep it up.
Magnífico tu canal, hacía mucho tiempo que no escuchaba a Triana, maravilloso rock andaluz. Un abrazo amigo
Greetings! These guys are amazing I'm looking forward to learning and hearing more from them!
From the same time as Triana is the band Bloque from my hometown of Santander. It's progressive rock and they only released 4 albums, but they are very different and recommended. Parallel guitars in the purest Allman Brothers Band style, you will surely like them. There is also the band Mediterráneo from Alicante with their first two very interesting progressive rock albums; Estrechas calles de Santa Cruz and Tabarca. Greetings from Spain.
Greetings and thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it! I have really been enjoying learning about all the incredible music from Spain!
Triana will give you many joys, different sensations with each song
Only an open minded person, like you, is interested to learn about different styles. I love Triana, they are very important for the Spanish rock culture.
I will recommend you a modern prog/rock band also from Spain.
They are: Derby Motoreta's Burrito Cachimba, song “Gitana”.
I know it’s a complicated name 😂. I think that you would like.
Greetings from Spain.
I forgot to tell you I prefer the live version. If you want search for “Gitana (the furious sessions)” 😉
Greetings and thank you! They have such an awesome mix of incredible sounds! I love the way it all comes together. I can see how listening to them could get very addictive! I am looking forward to hearing more from them! Its sad they are no more but they left so much amazing music behind that is a very big piece of rock history that needs to be recognized and shared with as many people as possible!!!!
Thank you I will check that out!!!
@@TheKillogicEffect you’re wise sir!
Triana is a neighborhood in Seville city. Many women are also called by that name. Triana is pronounced like this:
'Tri' = treat, without the final t.
'ana' as is.
I love your smile
Thank you very much for your reaction.
Triana is my favorite progressive rock band or group.
❤❤❤
I really liked his reaction, for appreciating Triana's good work.
I would like to see more reactions from you from Triana, such as: The Day has arrived. Thank you very much and greetings from Spain, Europe.
It is a pleasure to learn about such an incredible band! They remind me of music my parents used to listened to when I was young like Blind Faith and Traffic and other band from that era! They were way ahead of their time in a lot of ways! I will be looking into and making more videos about this band for sure!
@@TheKillogicEffect Thank you very much for your reply.
They listened to groups like Chicago, for example, and I think very possibly others like Black Sabath, integrating all of this into more traditional Spanish music.
Those you cite must surely also have been a source of these great revolutionary American musicians.
Thank you once again and I will be attentive to your reactions, you seem to me to be a person with a lot of "ear" (here we call him elf) and great musical ability and experience.
A big hug 😇
I'm sevillian, south of the Spain, Andalucía and this band too, it was show me for my father, i was young in that moment but with time i could understand this kind of magic 😂😂😂. Sorry for my english man
So much amazing music comes from that area in general I have noticed!
Triana, spanish proud❤💛♥️
Hello , wonderful Triana 👏🏻🎸🎹 thank you amazing !! 👍👌🇪🇸
Triana The best
That is the beauty of music, it goes on and lives forever far beyond the life of the people who make it!
Rock andaluz hermano 👌😉, saludos desde Andalucía
Thank so much🤩🤩
Love It,!!
Some pretty awesome stuff without a doubt!
That´s really a mithic flamenco-rock group! pretty nice.
MAybe you´ll also interessted in this one: "El Barrio - El Primavera"
Thank you I really appreciate it! They were really ahead of their time! I'm gonna be digging into a lot more from them!
The "I" sounds like an "E', my friend! 👍🏽😎
The shirt is very flammable! 😅😅 The 70s fashion.
Absolutely! Dont get close to an open flame!😂
Sr, Troncoso and En el lago are the best songs. Try it. Greetings from Spain.
Thank you for the suggestions I really appreciate it and I will be checking those out for sure! I really dig their sound!
Medina Azahara also its a great flamenco rock band
Thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it and I will be checking them out for sure!!!
listen to "abre la puerta" or "En el lago" in my opinion one of their best songs
Thank you for the suggestions I really appreciate it and I will check those out for sure!!!
On TH-cam you can find a video where the staging is entirely by Emerson Lake & Palmer. It is a live recording on television, the sound is not good, although the song is great. Luminosa Mañana It's the song

Tu frialdad ,reaciona a esa canción gracias
Its way cool I want one!!! Love the way he plays from a kind of lead on bass to a lead on guitars, its some really impressive stuff!!!

Hi! It's pronounced Tree-Ah-na
¿Has escuchado a Toti Soler..?
They were totally not in their time... this is the early 70s. They were unique, and nobody had that style. Notice the Spanish guitar in a rock band!!
Yeah I love the mix of instruments and styles! They were way ahead of their time! Its to bad things ended up the way they did, I think they would have had a big influence on music in general!
