My passage from Oban to Moidart was around 1992 with my late father. In the absence of today's electronic gadgetry, we had to rely on a local chart in a cruising guide to, very gingerly, navigate the entrance to the loch, which was a literal maze of islets and submerged rocks. What a place though! We ended up staying two nights more than we intended, living off foraged mussels, razor clams and mackerel caught earlier off Ardnamurchan.
I live in Scotland. Last year I bought a newbridge venturer as a project boat. Never been sailing in my life but videos like this give you the impetus to get the boat fixed and get out and learn.
G, sadly stopped sailing in scotland four years ago when I was forced to sell the centaur. Other channels are available - lots of sailing flesh to admire. D
Just made a donation, so pleased to see you've returned to Scotland. The scenery makes me realise why the Scots settled in the South Island of New Zealand, it looks very similar. How do I sign up for your web site?
I spent a summer making a film about south island sheep farmers - and the two places look the same. Wonderful scenery. Thanks for the chip in - into the warm boat fund kit goes. Dylan
Gods big cre - it is a wonderful place. I am in love with scotland.... I too hope to return some day. Tjis was shot three years ago shortly before I ran out of money
I am afraid I ran out of cash four years ago and have not been back to scotland since. Now saving up for a dry boat - althgough this year I turn 66 - so time is ebbing.
I stopped mentioning Trump once the death threats came in - I realised that I was out of my depth and was dealing with an entirely new set of people .... I let the Trumpists get their way... I am a weak man.
Beautifully filmed and narrated Dylan- thank you for your inspiration
