I have owned my remarkable 2 since January 2021 and have used it extensively during my engineering degree. I was already preparing for the worst case scenario of losing my marker and after about a month of owning the Rm2 I purchased the jumbo pencil. I love it because it has a finer tip which allows me to write much more detailed. My biggest pet peeve is the amount of strain on my hand when writing a lot. I use both for different applications but never the less I agree with comparison of it being the better overall stylus.
I just bought Rm2 , I'm going to put a black soft elastic band around cover and over pen when stuck magnetically, to dble down on not losing while transporting. But also order the Jumbo, looks cool see everyone using it. Thank you
I recently bought the Remarkable 2 with this exact stylus and a 40 dollar flip case with pen holder on the side with it. It works awesome, and holds the jumbo pencil snug. Saved about 120 euros on the pen and case from Remarkable itself. Can absolutely recommend.
FINALLY got a remarkable 2 in Sept and LOVE IT after a few months, my WIFE lost my Marker+ DOH, and searched for "remarkable 2 stylus alternative" and what a joyous surprise to see YOUR video as the top result. :-) Love seeing you again brother.
Thanks a lot! I've been doing some research, reading tons of reviews, and which alternatives exist for a case and the stylus, particularly the stylus because of the cost and so many people complaining about breaking or losing it. Really useful review, so I think I have option #1 for the stylus.
I just ordered a stylus via your link today as I ordered a Remarkable 2 to replace mine that was stolen last year. I figured since I was grandfathered into the cloud backup for free I'd just get another Remarkable 2 vs something else.
When I ordered my R2, I just couldn't bring myself to pay what ReMarkable wanted for the case and stylus. After all, the "good" stylus and folio cost as much as the R2!!!! To me, that's like paying as much for the laptop bag as the laptop! Accessories shouldn't cost as much as the main item. No, couldn't justify it to myself. I held off buying until I knew I had viable options for case and pen. I saw a couple great reviews talking about the Digital jumbo pencil and went with that. I also found an awesome distressed leather case on Amazon, that looks far better than the OEM options, for $55 (with free engraving if desired). I'm all in for about $400 vs $600+, and couldn't be happier. Not having a magnet is no problem, I just put my stylus in my pocket, with the ink pen I always carry there anyway... And the 2 Benjamins I saved. Done!
Love this jumbo pen, it glides like a ball point pen, also love the RM marker plus which writes like a pencil (makes a sound on the tablet surface while the jumbo is quiet). On the other hand, I also tried the Noris Classic but I returned it because it's too thin to hold and it also writes too thin that you have to press harder to get the desired letter thickness which is cumbersome and my penmanship is not as good as compared to the jumbo and original RM marker plus. And I agree, the jumbo erases better than the original RM pen. Thanks for the vid.
I actually came here, because this is the second pen I have been using, I didn't loose the first one, it just broke around the tip. The plastic was not ready for my clumsiness. My second one has chipped in the same area and it makes writing difficult, and just wanted to know if there were alternatives to the pen, since I'm noticing this pen is prone to chip at the tip and I can't keep buying new pens.
Thanks for the info. I’m in the market for a digital notebook and I have my eyes set on the remarkable 2. Your videos have helped me make the decision and I will be ordering a RM2 next week.
Make sure to get a referral link from someone and save an extra 10% or so on your purchase if you end up going with ReMarkable 2. Anyone who owns the ReMarkable will have a referral link 😁
No one's mentioning if the tilt works the same on this thing, which is the only worry I have. I use the Remarkable as an artist who draws monsters and animal comics (furry artist.) That's so cool that you use it for D&D papers!
@@takemetoyonk Ok thanks this is my other account I am literally in the middle of a move so sorry I am normally on top of it. Thanks for understanding!
@@AK-ih3hx oh I bought it and been using it! I'm still on the 1st nib. The tilt isn't as accurate feeling but I've yet to test back-to-back. Also it's harder to go lighter, which helps for stubborn tools like pencil, but worse for the ink brush
Thinking of skipping buying the remarkable stylus and going straight for the cheaper pen, is the writing experience pretty much the same on both stylus pens?
I have the Rm stylus and the Staedtler. The latter does not carry the remarkable nibs. These nibs of the Staedtler are quite different, more ‘rubbery’. I prefer the remarkable nibs.
So... I just lost my remarkable stylus. What is the best replacement stylus that has a magnet? or alternatively what is the best one that has a pocket clip. I am used to using Molskein notebooks with a rollerball pen I could clip on the cover. Way more secure than the magnet.
Robert, that’s a great comment. The problem is there really isn’t any that I know of with a good magnet or a clip I would say that’s the one negative for me with the ReMarkable. I’ve lost my stylist too and the one I’m using right now doesn’t really hold very well, so I’m really careful with it. The only suggestion maybe would be a better case but I like the case it’s with my Apple Pencil on my iPad holds much better.
@@morningcoach i’m stuck with the case because I have the keyboard sometimes I like to type rather than write. I’ve ordered a LAMY Safari Twin to try. No eraser but it has a clip.
@@RobertFord-hx5gt I have one of those FYI I use it with my BOOX it works - the issue is the clip is a little big and the pen sometimes falls out of the cap - BUT I can confirm you can clip it to the case. It is just a big one. :)
If you get a less expensive ($20), knock off case with a pen holder like I have - you don't have to worry about losing your stylus or any replacements either!
I got the jumbo one I a while ago, but it doesn't work on mine. Have to switch the nib with a rm one. The eraser doesn't work unless you do the switch on the screen, which kinda sucks. I wonder if it's a rm 1 thing. That's what I have.
I'm curious about one thing. Remarkable claims the RM 1 stylus is not compatible with the RM 2. However, I kept mine and it seems to work perfectly. The only reason I'm not using it is it doesn't have an eraser button. Anyone know what I'm missing? Is there functionality missing from the RM 1 stylus? Like I said, seems to work fine to me. I asked RM this same question over a week ago but they have yet to respond.
Anyone have trouble with the nib-holding tip on the Marker Plus breaking? Mine broke within a week of receiving the RM2 and I blamed it on my kids maybe getting a hold of it when I wasn't looking. When that cuff breaks, the nibs aren't fully supported and start to bend or lose contact -- it greatly reduces the writing experience. Remarkable kindly sent me a replacement Marker Plus...it broke the same way in the first day of use. There's got to be a design problem there. I do not bear down heavily when writing or drawing. I've used the Staedtler and found the nib too "flexy" and rubbery. I like the Samsung pens as cheap alternatives but miss the eraser and magnet.
Hello JB, I've discovered your community and I love what you do. Your reviews are so helpful. I've got a question for you. I would like to buy a Staedler Noris Digital Jumbo but I'm wondering if I can use the nibs from my old Remarkable marker with the Staedler? Thank you for your answer and for everything you do. Keep going!
The Supernote uses a different stylus type. I actually like the Stylus comes with the Supernote - they actually make good ones, I think most of the better ones.
I use this with my Supernote pretty much daily, have since last year, and my nib is stil like new... can't address the RM2 stylus, but it's been awesome with Mr Super...
