Easy Watercolor Painting | Tree

- Today we’ll be painting a tree standing alone. The process is simple, so it will be easy for beginners to follow along. Let’s picture the leaves as a group instead of looking at each individual leaf. Then, within the group, let’s find the smaller clusters of leaves and also draw them.
Once the sketch is ready, we can start painting. I’ll use Sap Green and Olive Green mixed with lots of water for the lighter parts. Then, I’ll mix Undersea Green or Viridian for the darker parts. Just working and mixing a few colors can create an endless variety of shades. Also, I’ll use the tip of my brush to draw the outline of the leaves.
Since the leaves cast a shadow, the tree trunk is a bit darker than the leaves. Here, I’ll use a calm Van Dyke Brown. I’ll add more water to paint the lighter parts and add more paint for the darker parts. This will add depth to the painting.

Hi, just starting watercolour. Your work is beautiful. Do you change colours each time or is it 1 colour with different amounts of water? Thank you.
I usually use mixed colors~
As a base color, I mix Olive green and Sap green, then I add some Raw umber for the light part and add some Ultramarine deep for the dark part.
Sometimes use more colors...but same way~ make a base color first then add others :)
Also I use different amount of water. For the light parts, I add lots of water, but I use very thick paints for the dark parts~

For the dark part, I usually use Ultramarine deep and Vandyke Brown mix, then I add some green or brown. I use very thick paints...I think this is the key :)

Wow that tree looks awesome . Usually when i paint t a picture i just put lots of water on the tree leaves part and put colours like greens, yellows and blues and I thought that was the best way( it actually looks pretty good)...now I'm thinking that's the quickest way, but this is way better

I am more of a drawer but I find myself wanting to paint now so I thought I should start out with water colours to get used to the brush differences and colour combinations and effects first before moving onto acrylic paints. The art bug has really bit hard and I find myself yearning to pick up that brush but I just have no idea how or where to start, even while watching these videos, I still don't have any ideas. Maybe once I pick up that brush I will get a feel for it and magic will just explode out of me which may have been dormant all these years, who knows. Wish me luck guys.❤
