      @@AndyGabbs I don't have near enough room for either a croc or water monitor so I have to live vicariously watching TH-cam. The best I could do is an Ackie or maybe a Savanna.

    flex seal was a waste of money.. grout mix is cheap and works just as good. I also sprayed everything with a water sealer and that helped. I looked at flex seal but for the price I cant justify it. I built a 6x6 ft enclosure. It gets costy fast but so much fun.

    I wish you showed the doors more, I’m trying to make doors like that with wire mesh but I’m struggling to thing the best way for strength, is it one piece with a cut out or 4 put together?

    • @AndyGabbs
      @AndyGabbs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One piece with the whole cut out, I used a staple gun to get the wire to stay on. I used ALOT of staples. 2 layers, one staple about every 1.5 inches

  • @turtleman190

    You can use liquid rubber instead of flex seal

  • @Tougenaut
    @Tougenaut 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should paint the outside of the wire black for better viewing. Also next time, don't tip the bag water in with the fish as they stress in it and fowl the water. Also the monitor is going to claw holes in your pond liner so you might have a bad time lol.

    I know you probably said it, but you know how Marines are. We aren't the brightest crayon in the box. So my questions are how much did this cost you, and how long do you expect this build to last? I am in the process of building my water monitor a new enclosure.

    One question where do you get your Asian water monitor who was the breeder

  • @Masterchuto18
    @Masterchuto18 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also have a asian water monitor that's 2 feet long in a 4x2x2. The bottom of of the tank is filled with water. My cage that I'm going to build 16x8x8. When your monitor gets to be 4 or 5 feet that water hole is not going to be big enough for him to swim in. Then what?

    Yea...... have a stitches kit handy. I have a 7 foot asian water monitor I bought at reptile show when he was like 5 inches long. He has out grown properly 20 fish tanks tell I just gave hem the spare bedroom. I've invested 9 years into hem and have been bitten 2 times by hem.... this last past time he reached to fast for a rat and got me on the hand for 30 stitches. What I've learned, is really no one should buy a powerful large monitor like this and I wish laws would be passed banning the sales of these type of reptiles. Yes he's tame, and didn't bit me intentionally... but these are very power lizards that have no place in a residential home. The belong in nature and left alone, and this is coming from someone who owns one and has raised it up from a few months old. Thay are and can become very tame and lazy, plus thay are very intelligent..... but thay will turn on you and test you from time too time.
    I promised you don't want to get a bite from an 50 pound adult water monitor

    • @AndyGabbs
      @AndyGabbs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m well aware of what it takes to take care of an adult monitor. Keeping a monitor in 20 fish tanks was probably part of the problem. They aren’t meant to live in a fish tank.
      Understanding the animal and knowing what it wants/needs is a huge part of dealing with them. They are HIGHLY intelligent animals that need training and interaction. Any animals can turn on you at any second, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, rabbits. Anything can cause you extreme pain, and lead to stitches. The idea that you think we need laws banning the ownership of these amazing animals just proves to me you haven’t necessarily put in the time to learn what the animal needs. Should everyone have one? No. But that doesn’t mean no one should.
