I now have three generations of Wilkinson Classic shavers. The new one, the former black plastic one ant the "Sticky". They all perform wonderfull and give a gentle shave. The new one sat perfect in my hand. I liked the long handle and the weight of the shaver.

As for the shave: pity I did not catch the poll. I would have definitely voted for the Ming Shi(even knowing retrospect it would lose)...It's not the aggressiveness/ mildness but the versatility that would have been good to see in action...The weekend-NOT GOOD....Oh well...At least I enjoyed watching this....

Great shave Paul, kind of sorry to see the old door knocker go. I'm debating shaving off mine, sadly Ive become used to it and not sure..Like you say, you can always grow it back. Paul - I don't like the idea that Wilkinson (owned by Edgewell/Schick) is reluctant to state where the razor is made and doesn't even put it on the box. One person on the furms said they were told it's made in China. If that's the case, it probably costs half a dollar or pound to make and the markup is over 2,000%. You can tell how tinny and cheaply made it is from the doors. It's no different than the Baili razors out of China. This should sell for 5 pounds at the most.
Lots of confusion as to the place of actual manufacture, however , I would rather see them make this type of razor as to the multi blade plastic razors, which cost even less to make I expect.
I wanted to see if it's possible to take that beard with the Wilkinson classic. 😆That razor i would never choose for taking down such growth.🙈

That razor I would never buy, period! Some say it's made in China or Pakistan. I'm guessing that it costs less than a dollar of a pound to manufacture. It looks cheap.
@@shave-a-thon3415 it feels not that cheap. But not as well built as Merkur, Gillette or Rockwell razors.
I think for buying it in Europe for 10€ it is worth it. Think about what you get instead of it from Gillette nowadays. Plastic razors that costs more...

I voted for the Wilky as I'd seen one fellow shave a full years worth of beard with an EJ DE89, I knew it would take off the Van Dyke just fine and take it off it did. Nice soap P&B, looked creamy. I'd have gone with another blade choice myself but that one worked. Back to normal🤣, what can we expect? Wonderful flowers this morning, always a sight to behold thanks to Mrs H. Happy Anniversary To you and Mrs H, I much prefer these blades to the Wilkinson Sword blades as they are smoother, that Supermax blue diamond titanium blade in the MingShi would have destroyed that beard in one stroke, it's not the best to judge a blade in a very mild razor, A DE89 would be best, and i would say these blades are the best in the market as you can get 1000 of them for £23.99 with free delivery and many men on badger & Blade swear by them, I love them and i find them longer Lasting than Astra Greens, Great video as usual, Jock Stewart from Glasgow.

Superb shave Paul you look good with or without the door knocker its always nice to clean up though. I would of used a shavette or muhle R41 but that razor suprised me.💈💈💈💈👍

Wow...almost forgot...it happens when you are 75. Happy Anniversary! I just started to shave with a safety razor...am learning a lot from you. I imagine it takes time to get your facial skin use to shaving with a safety razor? My face looked like I lost a Roman battle at Colchester battlegrounds....it was a "bloody mess"...not pretty. The next shave was much better. This time it looked like I won the battle at Colchester!

I would never shave off a beard with any razor . Just to much damn work . I have a Philips oneblade electric trimmer . I love it . I use that first , then shave off my goatee . Have you seen the Philips oneblade ?

Phoenix and Beau as you said is a great soap especially the slickness. I don’t want to try and encourage you to buy even more stuff but if you haven’t tried it, their post shave lotion (balm thing) is really good. 🙄

Did you know that your wiskers continue to grow. A week or more after you have passed on...Better take your fav razor blade and soap for the after life...mine is packed...lol

Hi Paul, a great shave as usual, oh and Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs H. I was wondering if you’ve ever tried the Gillette Rubie blade?. I thought I’d tried most blades and got a shock when I used this one, sharp, smooth and no irritation at all. Whilst I know blades are subjective and very different to us all, what’s good for some doesn’t work for others, but I was amazed from the result I had with it. Ive used it in a vintage Gillette super speed razor and my Edwin Jagger de89, perfumed great with both razors, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. Lastly, any ideas for an after shave or splash to go with Taylor of Old Bond St Grapefruit cream? Any suggestions welcome..
Thank you David, I have used the Gillette Rubie Blade yes, and from memory it was a nice blade as you say.....I tend to use my Lemon colognes with any citrus based soaps, Taylor of old bond st No 74 Victorian Limes is a nice one , Duru Lemon cologne is another .:-)

The black Wilkinson Sword Classic has no overhang at all, one of the smallest overhangs for me would be the West Coast Shaving Stainless Steel razor "Hyperion".....thanks :)
