Thomas the Tank Engine theme song but reharmonized to uncomfortable chords
• Thomas the Tank Engine...

This is the musical equivalent of that feeling you get when you're pretty sure you made some sort of mistake, but you can't quite remember what it is, so you just go through your day hoping that whatever mistake you made isn't too important but the thought of "what if it is" is always there in the background and it's just severe enough that it kind of ruins your whole day.
I hate how accurately this identified the precise thing I was feeling.
In layman's terms: anxiety
Ahh yes, good ol’ GAD
@@QuinManGuy I was going to say the exact same thing 😂
u ok?
This is banging
When does the uncomfortable kick in
Once it ends and you're left alone with the silent void of reality.
It sounds like Thomas was sent to court for tax evasion
El Pablo and he’s smiling the whole way there
when you listen to the insaneintherain version
@@pablogarcia6188 Thomas was only following orders.
Me, a tone deaf percussionist: hey this cover kinda hits!
Last note: *dies*
Tone deaf percussionists RISE UP
will all the tone dead percussionist please stand- oh wait we already are
Steviworld yo
The first shotgun *ka-chunk* let me know this was already going to be magical.
I'll probably have to hear it separately to properly appreciate the cursedness. It is noticable, just not enough to feel properly cursed.
That was my sense too. You can only do so much to alter a finished, mastered track, but when played back to back with the original you can really hear the harmonic differences.
So no Finn Only version? :(
@@TurretBot Not for this one, even though it is a dub. There's just barely any difference between the two, I didn't think it was worth it to do a whole other video for the Finn Only version. You can download the Finn Only version from the dropbox link in the description though!
0:04 When you check out the train window expecting to be at your stop but you see the edge of a cliff coming up instead
thought there wasnt any way the thomas theme could be improved.
i was wrong.
You're about to be proven wrong again, my friend: th-cam.com/video/siZoMTn1WqE/w-d-xo.html
How on Earth is this uncormfortable? What you've done is convert the song into jazz chords.
Reharmonization!
Back in my college sophomore year I had to take a Music Appreciation course, which talked about Jazz. I've always been in Orchestra, and my teacher says extremely strict about playing the right notes, but in jazz, you're encouraged to improvise and change the song up a little, so the whole time my mind was processing it like "Huh? That's not right!?!", and by the end of the end of the semester I was like "I NEVER WANNA HEAR JAZZ AGAIN". But here we are 😂😂😂
The second chord of the original is a D7b5 tho. Because the song is baed on take the a train by duke ellington. That’s pretty jazzy. The tune was jazzy to begin with
You must be listening to the world's worst fucking jazz.
Much closer to prog tock. Most jazz is extremely tonal, or tries to recreate the same movement you would find in tonal conventions while circumnavigating them.
Okay that intro was hilarious
I hate that I can't even be mad, since it's so well made.
These chords make me want to study music theory
THOMAS THE JAZZ ENGINE
I like how you followed the original harmony JUST close enough to make the uncomfortability kick in
I’m made more uncomfortable by the difference of shirts and by the confusing emotions expressed throughout both video. Something also seemed off with the blanket behind the drums. I didn’t notice anything wrong with the music. I am eternally confused. This video has ruined me.
Oh man there is no blanket behind the drums. What is happening.
E. Keough yes there is lol??
N1ght Sk1 oh no there is thank goodness
His whole place is covered in blankets. They probably act as sound dampening
Zach Crosset he’s said that it’s for aesthetics and sound quality but it’s not the blankets that disturb me. I love the wall blankets. I say add more. It’s any lack that disturbs me.
this produces a kind of lovecraftian cosmic horror feeling. It doesnt feel like normal discomfort, its uncomfortable on a whole other plane of conciousness.
Hmm, what exactly am I suppose to feel? Is it excitement or discomfort?
Excitement + discomfort = discomfort
So Excitement = 0 ????
Naaah what? This actually sounds good.
You put in in uncomfortable chords but arranged it so well that it sounds great!
woah I didn't know Seinfeld made Thomas the tank engine's theme song.
The most uncomfortable thing about this is how you arrange your drum kit and how you use your left hand for hi hat but you’re seemingly right handed and I just aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
0:24 - 0:50 doesn’t sound too bad! I like the rest of the songs wonky sounding nature, makes the Thomas theme a breath of fresh air! Also 0:41 - 0:50 was spot on good job 👍
I can hear the offness, but it's overshadowed by the other elements to be kinda deece
PLAYING BASS WITH A PICK IS FORBIDDEN IM GOING TO CALL THE POLICE!
YEAH I LOVE IT SO JAZZY
This is somewhat better than the original, and I really like the original, so you got high marks my dude!
why did this make me realise how much of a jam the original theme is
This sounds like total chaos, so I know it was incredibly difficult to practice and play right. Well done.
This is so dope!!! My favorite part 0:23 till 0:33. This is what happens when I try to harmonise with the vocal line in a song and improvise along and sometimes you hit it, sometimes you don't, but sometimes its so awesome you really regret having forgotten it the next day.
I'm getting strong Captain Beefheart vibes from this.
It kinda reminds me of Genesis, at least in the chord progression (listen to songs like Pigeons or Evidence of Autumn to see what I mean)
I don't get any Beefheart from this. I get mostly Finn/Judd and Gabriel vibes.
I will not go back to your Sodor
@@Malkmusianful I don't mean musically, I mean how disjoint and unrelated each part sounds.
It's like a cover you would hear at a late night diner in the middle of an indescribable city
When you make a score to your school mates to play a song, you accidentaly did it all wrong by memory but the crowd never listened to the actual song and they think thats how the song goes
"Uncorfortable"?
*Thomas has never seen such Bullsh*t before*
Googled why does thomas the tank engine start with a gun cocking, and now I think I'm in a suspicious person registry somewhere. This message is for context. For that registry.
Why is it now I’m curios
Dang can’t wait to hear the rest of the new Black Midi album
It still works.
This evokes the same feeling as watching a train barrel towards you in real time. Well done, thanks for the free cardiac arrest 👍
This is what I hear as I scream internally as it is all that can take the pain away. Love it Finn
I mean I can't complain, he said it was gonna be uncomfortable chords in the title. Still made me involuntarily make a face, though.
that, my dear boy, is what the elites declare as jazz
Finn here just showing off being a musician with good jazz chops
This actually sounds pretty cool. nice job
Btw I love that snare sound, I’ll give you money if you send me some audio files of it.
This sounds inexplicably like a 90's alt-pop song. Like The Spin Doctors or something
This isn’t even uncomfortable, you just added seven layers of jazz theory to it that’s all.
at first this made me really anxious, then the middle was alright, then after that i got anxious again
It’s only uncomfortable if you know the original theme well. If your brain’s anticipating one set of chords and you get another, it’s like missing a step on the stairs.
But, if it isn’t, this fucking slaps, dude.
Well now my unconscious knows which music to play when i have nightmares about train riding.
Why is this not horrible
I feel like this video is supposed to psychologically affect your brain... I started feeling stressed part of the way through, I still can’t explain why but it’s just happening
It was time for Ayesha to leave. She had heard everything.
This is the most sickening version of this song I have ever heard.
Liked!
The worst is at the main part and even there it's onlt kinda uncomfortable-
I feel the sudden urge to rid myself of my skin.
This was actually pretty good. I'm a Thomas fan and I love it.
I guess I would be more uncomfortable if I actually grew up watching Thomas the tank engine, but this was actually pretty freaking cool.
Immediately came to comment that the chords arent right, but glad I re-read the title first! Ahahhaa
Yeah I’m with everyone else, this ain’t uncomfortable at all. This is a fucking BOP
Ah, yes, the early Split Enz and black midi crossover I didn't know I needed
We need an uncomfortable reharmonization of the uncomfortable reharmonization in which you go 100% jazz. I want it uncomfortable^2
I'm not a musician or anything but this didn't make uncomfortable. I like this reharmonization
This is freaking awesome! :D
This is just the man-baby in me, but could you do piano dubs of Thomas scenes? If not, that's fine. The Simpsons stuff is honestly why I love your channel
At points, this sounds like a forgotten band which you would hear on one of those BBC 4 repeats of a 70s episode of Top of the Pops that has been cut down to about 14 minutes because it's been denonced.
The bridge was actually really freaking good, it almost made the rest of the song bearable. Almost.
It think this reharm gives it even more forward momentum and a big fat heap of stank
love it
Not uncomfortable just good
this is scary
Ellicted that same anxious feeling within me that I got listening to the “Pink Panther Theme in Major” *shivers*
when it bops but also hits different
The chorus gives me chills
I believe this is what Adam Neely would call Level 5 Jazz Harmony
I feel like this what we hear first before being doomed and taken to hell by Thomas.
Very nicely done with the theme very good use of the piano guitar and drums though it needs more work with the chords but above all awesome performance and it sounds great
"reharmonized to uncomfortable chords"
did you mean: *_jazz_*
Day 6 of quarantine and this is where I've ended up
I liked this actually. Chords aren't what you would expect but they aren't ugly sounding.
This is a really cool jam
I don't know, I'm actually kinda feeling it.
the gun noise was too hilarious
[Adam Neely wants to know your location]
Damn that was some uncomfortable chording
when the music professor asks you to do a harmonic analysis of a song littered with chromatics
This video triggered my fight or flight response.
Oh God my heart rate went up as soon as I heard the second chord what is this sorcery and how do I compose like this? I want to play the Ellie dying song from Up but give people anxiety instead.
Am I the only one who thinks this sounds pretty good? Kind of has a swing to it
Bass with pick?
ILLEGAL
The part of the train journey between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
Not so much "uncomfortable" as "snazzy theme to a Saturday morning cartoon villain."
Proof that finn cant make anything bad even if he tried
Thomas the tank engine theme but it FUCKING SLAPS AND IT HAS ALONG HOW DID WE NEVER NOTICE THIS THEME
This is legitimately beautiful
I've been waiting for this for so l o n g
I don't know what was uncomfortable about that. It was a banger
This song’s got Madness’s Our House vibes and I dig it!
Now this is an Avengers level reharmonization
It sounds like Thomas was sent to court for tax evasion.
That sounds more like rock than the jazz of the normal tune. I like it a lot
Idk if I'm like dying but I seriously couldnt tell what was wrong until I listened again
Now what we need is Finn dubbing a Thomas episode
Or maybe even doing a dub of the TUGS theme :0
Perfection is the uncomfortable part
I don't know if this ruined my childhood
or made it better
Seriously though, love ya Finn
