I returned mine 2 days after buying after noticeing and assembly problem where there was somthing sticking out of 1 of the side panels also was by no means "silent" got my refund and just went back to a sienna 2500 lol
Loving stradic reels.. I myself still own old Stradic 2500 its still good to this day, got countless fish on it like Barramundi's, MJ's. Love its solid heavy feel while reeling in and not that cheap lightweight feel. My Stradic doesnt have that x-protect and new fancy tech but its good too cause same gear build and easier to (assemble/#).. Dont really need that xtra tech cause i oil everything before going to fish, and tear it down grease up every 4,5month or when it feels need to. And it took like 30minutes to 1h.. Idk bout new reels, cool tech and sexy looking tho more complicated to maintain.
@@FishingWithNic yeah bro, nice vid.. the fact that you caught that bream in few min really surprised me. Its very hard to catch bream over here.. Maybe low population
Great video Nic. Love the Stradic FL - feels like my Vanquish; and I’m going to get another one before they are discontinued. I bought a mint 1000HG for $170 and missed out a deal on an almost mint 3000 for $130 :(
Never lay youre reel in the sand, just a Tip I did it big problem to solve 👍 Coated gear on the FL read that and logic, got the FK the gear feels hard with bigger lures. Read youre comment hope youre right, that it is a differend gear in the FL mine FB ci4 stays smooth al the time.
Thanks Richard, you're definiety right there and that is a very handy tip! Although the reel wasn't reallyyy laying in the sand in the vid, it was purposely made to sit on the handle of the reel and the rod, so that for your reason, the reel never touches sand.
Very good point, Only reason I went for the 2500 is because The Fishermans Shed (Tackle Shop) didnt have them in the 3000 size, in hindsight the 3000 would've been better
@@FishingWithNic OK. I just got one and I find that I can just (barely) hear the mechanism (I think it is the spring) noise when I open the bail arm just before the click. Is this normal?
Ooo great question, They have different types of gearing, the FL have the Micromodule gearing while the Ci4+ has the next model down gearing I think. FL has x-protect, while Ci4+ has the core-protect. There are some other small differences as well, I think the FL comes out on top based on specs, but in the hand they both feel pretty much the same to me.
FishingWithNic I gotta recommend you to watch Tackle Advisors Stradic FL and Stradic FK comparison. It’s a really good video where he tears down both the reels and compare them. I think you can get really good information from his channel.
The x-protected anti reverse clutch is better than the stradic ci4+. It’s actually the exact same part as in the Stella FJ. Taller and better spool design, more refined oscillation and definately better gears. Especially better drive gear. Stradic FL is even better than the Sustain.
Shimano failed on 3 things on this reel to make it a global home run. 1. No folding handle like on many and previous models. 2. No service port. 3. No reverse. I do not care for it but some will. 4. No cloth bag like previous models. 5. The "Taller spool" claim is false. It's not anything taller than a Stradic 1000MgFB spool. I measured 1mm taller between the two. Nice review though. Thank you.
Got some great points there. I've been using the reel quite a lot over the past 12 months and have also found some other issues as well as some deterioration in its mechanical operation, might do a 12 months on video explaining some of these downfalls.
I hate folding handles. Service port is okay when dunked rod maybe, don't lose the seal though. I hate anti reverse switches. Idc about some bag that's just gonna be trashed. And the spool is different, maybe not in your casting
This Dude knows the features of the Stradic Fl from the internet, but dont know how to spooled it completly funny 😂😂😂😂😂🎯 its just a FK with differend coat ( outside look on the Tube
Yes exactly, I've tried to collate information I've found from multiple sources online into one video. The tackle shop I brought it from spooled it up, the following day I took all the line off and put 100m of 8lb monofilament backing on it. Just because they have the same colour scheme doesn't mean they are the same?!? Hold and look at the two reels side by side, there are hugeee differences, they feel completely alien from each other.
Richard De Boer it’s not a FK with a different coat. You’re wrong. First off, it has the same X-Prorected anti reverse clutch as the Stella FJ has. It’s a better X-Protect than the Sustain too. 2nd off, it also has a better drive gear than the FK. The worm gear oscillation is a tad bit different and more refined. The spool design is different too. The stradic FL is actually a big upgrade. It’s better than the FK in almost every way. It’s better than the more expencive Sustain too. It has more features than the Shimano Twinpower (the TP has better components though). I can’t believe how good the Stradic FL is honestly!
Fishing To The Max Daiwa have some awesome stuff. Their Tatula LT may be better than the Stradic Ci4+. With that said, I gotta go with the Stradic FL. It’s simply unbeatable for that price. The Shimano Sustain and the Daiwa Saltist are not better reels. The Stradic FL is crazy good honestly!
Ye ive had a couple sustains and their shit cans my drag clicker broke bail spring broke line roller broke handle split in half and its all corroded inside and all this happened in a month after service and when i got it serviced i had gotten everything replaced besides paint
@Coza King I've got the stradic and use it for awhile now. After a year of using it you will understand. It needs upgrade on balbararing and the felt washers turns into dust
All these people saying they can get them cheaper! Give. Me. Proof. A website or link, just something. The exence and certate both retail for $700 so I dunno what your on about?
I just impulse bought a 2500 and a 3000 on the way home from work, can't wait to put them to the test this weekend
Amazing review! I like how you broke down and explained all the new features of the reel.
Nice intro of the reel and u "fell" in love with the reel.
Hahah thanks bro, yep still love it to bits!
Great vid dude love the way you break everything down. Would thanks reel work well for finesse freshwater fishing? (The 1000 Hg model)
Thanks man! The 1000 model would be perfect for that stye of fishing I reckon.
what do you think now? it holds up well in the weather ?? they are reliable, didn't you have to maintain them too much?

I made a follow up video roughly 6 months after this if you'd like to check it out. Overall it has held up very well
Just got the same reel. What braid you running on your 2500HG
6lb platypus braid- not sure exactly
Dude, you need a left-crank reel. No hand swapping! ;-)
hehe one day I'll swap over ;) One day...
its okay i'm right handed but crank with right hand.. feel good n better...😊.. same thing with my bc..
U r a bit under line spool capacity, u’ll gain more distance , the reel is awsome
Realised that a couple days after this vid! put 100m of mono backing on
I returned mine 2 days after buying after noticeing and assembly problem where there was somthing sticking out of 1 of the side panels also was by no means "silent" got my refund and just went back to a sienna 2500 lol
Guess thats just one of the risks with mass produced items. Glad you got your money back, the trusty old old Sienna never fails.

Could you tell me please
What rod do you use ?
In this video I used a shimano inshore revolution 702 2-4 kg rod
Why didn’t u go with the 3000 carbon drag. 2500 below doesn’t have it.

Thanks bro! The shimano revolution inshore 2-4kg, was thinking of also doing a review on the rod.
FishingWithNic Yes please review the rod. Great video. Thank you.
@@83Goldy For sure!
Nice reel and ...mantap from Bali🙏
This might be over simplifying things but which is the superior reel, FL or Ci4+?
FL for sure
what kind of line and test again? How has it been holding up? Thanks
6lb platypus braid, apart from colour fading I've had no problems with it. Although you can't tie an FG knot with it, it just slips straight through
Shimano all the way and All the day. Hiuuu....
What line you use for 2500 and you have link to buy ? Thanks
6lb to 8lb braid I would recommend
good vid ..
Does it work good on a 7’6 rod?
It will work on that yes
Can i use the 2500 version on my shimano beastmaster fx predator, 2.40m, 5-21g ? , or do i need a bigger size
That'd work perfect I reckon!
Great video 👌
yo man just watching this now, how's the reel these days is it still smooth?
Veryyy good, I reckon maybe 85-90% of what it was like new, which isn't bad for nearly 12 months use
@@FishingWithNic Is it louder or rougher or both?
