    Honest opinion about the raceceiver thing. It’s fair to swap out the radios and also police for blue tooth devices. These are things that other teams may not be able to take advantage of. Not a fan of crew guys making signals either.
    Now a driver looking at the big screen, that’s fair game. It’s all about the race car and the nut behind the wheel at that point. As long as everyone has the same tools I’m ok with it.

  • @bretf
    @bretf 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Teams were also warned during the 2023 Eldora Million drivers meeting that officials would be checking for smart watches. I’m pretty sure Eldora officials then also replaced the Raceceiver in each car right before the A-main, after the cars were pushed onto the track for introductions. I think each team were also required to get marked tires directly from Eldora or Hoosier officials rather than run tires from the team inventory and get them marked after qualifying. This is my recollection anyway…

    the new ignitions in midgets basically is traction control. they can have different torque maps programmed depending on track conditions. thats why the boxes need to be locked out totally or go back to a mag setup.

    I thought the inventivness was part of the chilli bowl as well as if they are going to fight must do it out in the open, but I guess its out of fairness, i mean though in some levels I like a little variety like the way they used to use indy 500 to test they had all kinds of stuff till the 1970's, and differant shaped bodies, and some ran roadsters and succeded in spite of like foyt did with a dirt roadster for much of the race at the milwalki mile till he had to refuel since his pavement car was not ready yet, thats badass, or the turbine cars of stp, and the wicked novi special supercharger car that thing was a wicked machine too bad the origional was destroyed in a wreck and the second one didn't have that signature deafining roar. and the turbo offenhousers till they did what the could to nerf them down after dominance for decades and it knew no equal, not bad for a 4 banger hemi
    course costs were part of going more spec vs inventiveness and costs have only gotten worse today as we know

    I'm not sure I understand the restriction on hand signals. I mean I guess I kind of get it, you want the the contest to be as much about the drivers as possible, but wouldn't the solution just be crew have to stand at the top of the ramp and watch the CCTV feed? Seems like.policing would be difficult. Or maybe I'm not understanding the issue?

    • @Corky3D
      @Corky3D 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hand signals are crew members telling their driver where to run. Without the hand signals or the big screen. The car in front wouldn't know if someone is running a better line than them. For instance if the leader is running the bottom. He's not going to know where 2nd is running, unless 2nd is close pretty close. So 2nd place may get the top going and start catching the leader. The crew then would give hand signals to the leader that he needs to run the top to steal the line from 2nd position car. It can work for any position, but using top 2 as an example.
      It's a double edged sword. Crew members need to watch the car, for setup and handling information. With an experienced crew chief, they can watch the car and see how it's reacting without even needing the drivers opinion. So they can't be at top of the ramp. The camera is only going to show 1-3 cars the entire race, so they wouldn't be useful for the team. Once the race is over the driver and crew will talk and give their own opinions on how the car is reacting and make changes from there. Sometimes the driver may forget exactly how the car was handing each lap of the race, possibly due to being in a battle. So you need a good crew chief to watch, just in case the driver forgets.

    I have watched racing since 1999 in higher levels in America Europe Asia, etc. I watched over 20,000 hours of race replays, and every live nascar race since 1999. Every formula 1 race since 2002. Every archived f1 race since 1978. Every archive nascar race since 1979. Every cart IndyCar archive since 1982. Every IndyCar and cart race live since 1999. Every 24 hours of Daytona live since 2004. Every archived 24 hours of Daytona since 1985. Every 24 hours of lemans live since 2003. Every archived 24 hours of lemans since 1969. Many hours of historic clips and documentaries. 1989 Hawkster's record of 2:22. beating secretariats 2:24. from the 1973 Belmont stakes mile and 1/2. 5 chili bowls in a row. Historic Steve Kinser from 1987 onward. Frank Kimmel's Winchester fight from the 1990's. Jim Englebright and Ted Christopher. V8 supercars and the Bathurst 1,000. Sir Jackie Stewart vs various people including Gram Hill. The fire department destroying the 1981 Monaco grand prix. The pace car stolen at Talladega in 1985. Moonshine runners in nascar, cheating and the fatal wrecks of legends past. In my 25-year fan career this is the outright dumbest cheating accusations I have ever heard. Basically, you aren't allowed to tell your driver what line is better through his smart phone. Poor people can't afford smart phones, I guess. How about walkie talkies for 5 dollars at a yard sale and dollar store batteries. I am shocked at this.
