I found it weird that she phrased it the way she did. Her parents could be PhDs from India and she could still be the first one to go to college in the US. I think this is appropriation of another kind, appealing to people thinking she is the first to graduate from college from her family.

@@Ash-bl7vm That’s a stupid comment. The reason elite universities are overwhelmingly left-wing is that the vast majority of people don’t think foe themselves but conform to their environment. Ivy League universities draw primarily from the upper and upper middle classes, who are primarily left wing not because they are more intelligent (they aren’t) but because it’s self-serving. (I’m glossing over the huge affirmative action contingent.)
But the issue here isn’t admissions. We expect young people to be more left wong because they’re naive. The pro-terrorist pro-Hamas anti-semitic student protests illustrate this. The problem is the faculty, which is overwhelmingly left-wing _because it self-selects_. There’s a huge lack of intellectual diversity in university faculties and it’s a problem for the students and for the nation.
Your arrogant comment could have been spoken by Hilary Clinton. Which should cause you considerable shame.

Freedom of Speech should be exercised for the better world and for the betterment of everyone. Not just selective. Particularly the eloquent speakers should consider taking responsibility of not to provoke anyone but try to unite everyone by solving long existing differences. The eloquent speakers should work for achieving peace. That will happen when we all feel togetherness. The moment our minds start thinking selective, that means the solution no where. So we must have the ability to choose everyone for betterment.

wrong! violence in GAZA is what is unacceptable. VIOLENCE funded by the US to maintain hegemony is unacceptable. To pretend this is not happening ENDORSES NOTORIOUS AND OPEN VIOLENCE.
To try to suppress protest against oppression and racism and violence shows you do not care quite so much about that as you seem to care about other things like a peaceful serene tweet on a bucolic lawn.
Americans simply arent getting the facts re America's belligerent foreign actions in the MSM, and when they get the facts from the internet, they just disbelieve or deny them. Voters are mostly sheep as the Judge wrote years ago.
Why arent other countries that know about it objecting to it when they know how dangerous it is? Its the same over in the EU. Sheeple.
Even the students who RIGHTLY protest American backed and armed genocide in Gaza seem to rarely protest American provocations around the World, such as the extension of NATO and the proxy war in Ukraine and the military provocations against China.

It's sometimes really hard to express the situation of "not knowing" and scary to say "I don't know". But finding a way to know, makes the difference. What a brave speech she gave. Usually people will be like "you're from Harvard, don't you know this?" That's kind of cruel. Especially the main victims are the first Generation students. She literally roared like a lioness saying "it's okay to say I don't know, but find a way to know". Knowledge is power. Let the students acquire the power.

@lizhang9898 you clearly are still a kid. Let me explain it to you nicely. Once she starts paying her bills she will be more mindful of what she says and what she portrays herself to be in public because these do have consequences. She is graduating and just starting her life. Whats next is that she will start applying to jobs. Guess what employers will think of her when they search her name up on the internet. They will think hey this person can be a problem and a whiner in my workplace so why should I hire her? Its got nothing to do with being submissive to power. But it all has to do about being a responsble adult. Let me leave you with the saying that people start off as idealistic liberals with lofty ideas of changing the world as kids but once the reality of life and the real world sets in, they turn conservative once they become adults.
