    Wouldn’t clicking share tension on the hinge and rotor stabilize without having to put a gyro on it?

    as 5th "people" that came to the last part of the video, thank you for quick and easy video. It helps a bunch. Now i have to find a way to incorporate all that to my first space gunship.

    I can recommend as you're building these to name each part a matching name to make it easier to asign the correct components... When you have 10 of these on a ship it gets challenging if theyre not all named 😅

      @D3LTA2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh AND... The main weakness of the "ball" big outer hinge turret is the hinge part itself is super weak so it's beneficial to armour from the front of the turret around the sides, just make sure nothing touches the hinge

      nowdays they are color coded, but yeah it helps a lot, or maybe its some mod

    There are 2 other large advantages to prebuilts left unmentioned:
    - PRINTABLE, if your ship has a pre-built on it there will be no problems caused by printing making them far easier to use on ships you expect to have a lot of
    - longer AI range (assuming no scripts) the pre-builts get an extra 200m on their custom brethren by default but with the assistance of a target lock they can reach to their weapons' maximum ranges (2km for artillery). Target lock for a custom turret is less impactful as your range is not affected.

      @@Baltais3347 You’re welcome! However, as someone pointed out in the comments, there’s an even easier way! All you need do is tick the “share inertia” box in the hinges and rotors.

    I think you did a pretty good job. As someone who has already watched the other guys video's on this subject I can say that you had an informative perspective on the subject. While you may not have been an enthusiastic I feel some of the other people you may have.... mentioned.... just pontificate a bit too much. I don't know what Boob Tube Economics is going to tell you but Long intro video's suck. Long Outro video's are ok if it's you talking about something cool I guess. I don't want to accidently make this video too nice so i'll say this about the intro. You don't have to suck the teet so much. If you are interesting they will come. If you can be understood they will come. This was a great video.

    Very good video, do you have issues with custom turrets not disengaging from a target to attack another? I have them continue focus on targets they can't hit ignoring targets they can

    • @mrmaple9331
      @mrmaple9331  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I experience that myself. The old ghost in the machine. I haven’t tried to fix it in the past, but if I were, I think there’s a disengage target switch in the turret GUI. Perhaps it could even be wired to a control seat. Also glad you enjoyed! I’m working on another one for spaceship 101. Might come out soonish, so stay tuned!

    Can someone tell me if this is true or not I’ve heard rumors and saw a video of someone flying their ship back to their base that had turrets on it the turrets opened fire on to the player that owned it I’m about to have some friends join me on my server and I have 2 turrets a Gatling and an interior turret and when they make their ships or come into my base I’d rather not have them blown to bits

    • @mrmaple9331
      @mrmaple9331  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is an turret controller setting to fire on friendly players but I’ve never heard of it autonomously deciding to shoot the owner unless that box is checked

      @@mrmaple9331 is it possible to accidently make your ship neutral I know that's a setting for turrets it's enemy's neutrals and friendly's.

    What are you using on your turrents to have the AI be able to target that far away?

    • @mrmaple9331
      @mrmaple9331  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I adjust the targeting range on the turret controller to increase the distance it will attempt to fire at targets, and then I put a gyroscope on the turret grid and check the “override controls” box in order to stabilise it for accurate long-distance fire.

    My turrets simply don't target enemy ships. I've had it happen in vanilla and modded. Only fix I've found is to reload a backup save and hope. Anyone know how to fix this? Manual firing works

    Why do your turrets have antennas on them? And what purpose do they serve?

    • @mrmaple9331
      @mrmaple9331  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Generally, while they’re non-essential, you can’t actually press the control button without an antenna unless you’re in some kind of control seat. By adding an antenna, you can control the turret remotely just from a standing position. So if you’re on a ship, no need. Everywhere else though it’s somewhat recommended.
      As for antennas themselves, they allow you to remotely access grids. Once again, splitsie does a great job of explaining antennas, laser antennas and beacons so I highly recommend their video on that too.

    • @ericevans9186
      @ericevans9186 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mrmaple9331 thanks, never seen that before. Good to know about the remote thing standing out side.
      I will return the favor. With this. Stacking a small grid auto cannon turret on to a large grid advanced rotor is highly effective at grouping 1x1 LG fire power next to each other if you wish. Think Battle Star Galatica flak cannon array. Say a 2x10 large grid box of 20 small grid auto cannons saturating air space with a flak cloud of auto cannon ammunition
