Just a hunch: I think Clinger will be just fine offensively once he gets his feet wet. Like Nurk, he'll be a good passer and in pick n roll, but hopefully more efficient scoring around the hoop. That's enough.
I don’t think it’ll take stats like that for Shaedon to get a max. You mentioned Franz, who had a great rookie year and has been a little up and down since, and has yet to average 20ppg. The extension wouldn’t kick in until 2026. While I think 27-5-5 is in the ballpark of what it takes to be worth that money, he’d just need to be good enough for them to project that he can do that as he enters his prime rather than needing to do it this season. I think if he has decent efficiency and puts up a statline like 22-5-4, especially knowing that he was always going to be an upside projection rather than an immediate contributor, there will be max extension conversations. For perspective, Ant Edwards averaged 25-6-4 two seasons ago. Shae just needs to get close to that
nowadays players signs max deal based on his potential, based on his history.. what about to earn it first, have a solid 70+ game season with 22+ ppg 4 rebounds 3 assists, solid defence with some leadership..starting 140mil 5 year contract should be fine for sharpe, scoot i would say 120mil 5 year
Dylan Harper, also check out Nolan Traoré. Holy shit this kid can shoot, drive, finish, and he’s impossible to guard. A human lightning bolt. Even higher on him than Dylan and VJ.
I think keeping Anfernee around and bringing Shaedon off the bench (unless a great deal comes along for Simons) helps Portland out when it comes time to give Shaedon an extension. They don't need him to be great soon, they need him to be great years from now, and keeping his playing time and profile down for now gives them negotiating leverage.
I really dont get why you dont want to let the young guys to shoot. His 3 point shooting is bad, so dont... But yiu are a rebuilding team who needs to improve the young guys.
The new CBA is going to get weird for us. $25 million a year in 2026-27 (the year that Shaedon's extension would start) is likely less than 15% of the salary cap. Starter money is more like 20% and up... I think 20%-ish could end up being totally fair depending on what happens this season. But that's north of $30 million annually. It's going to take a while for the money to make sense in our brains with the cap rising so quickly the next couple years. The salary numbers are going to seem big (because they are! sheesh! but thinking % of the cap is probably an easier way to judge fairness/value)
I still think it's wild the Pistons didn't trade down for Holland. They could've traded all the way down to 9 with Memphis and still got him. I feel so sorry for that fan base. Literally the Cleveland Browns of basketball.
@@rileymcphee9429 I would have taken Holland #1 overall. (I'm a Pistons fan, so that's the one part of this summer that I'm happy about!) That said, you definitely should feel sorry for us: Weaver was the very worst GM in the history of the sport, and the new guy hiring Tobi suggests that either A) he's just as stupid as Weaver was, or B) Arn Tellem is still running the team (badly). We are fucked forever, there is no hope. It's frustrating.

Am I the only one high on Jalen Green? If he's truly available, he has superstar potential for our rebuild, if Rockets wanted Simons. Not to mention, Portland has a big Filipino community and he's from the west coast. But that's just me 🤷♂️
@@guyben1657 he needs development, yes. But we have time for that. And definitely less development than Scoot. Idk, I think he's more on our timeline and could replace Scoot if he doesn't pop
I am not sure if Sharpe will become like Kobe Bryant, but it's far too early to let him walk at the age of 21. If he doesn't perform well, he won't get a large contract from any team anyways. Last season was a downer though.
@@wrayven I agree with maybe too early to let him “walk” but he doesn’t strike me as the type to take a humble contract because he didn’t earn it hahah no kids act like that
@@joshnewton4147 The worst case scenario is the Blazers will wait until the 2026 offseason to allow Sharpe to become a restricted free agent. This will allow other teams to determine his value and to see if the Blazers want to match that offer. If he doesn't make an All-NBA team, Sharpe won't be eligible for a large contract anyways. Sharpe hasn't shown that he wants to be as great as his potential seems to be. Hopefully that changes this season as Sharpe definitely has the skill set to become a better than above average NBA player.
You two work great together. I really like this dynamic.
Ive wanted Brandon to do his own Blazer pod for a long time. Him and mike having their own with a longer format would be 🤌🏻
16/4/8 on 45/34/77 from Scoot and I’m happy tbh
Liked that you had Brandon on.

Totally totally agree. He’s an amazing system player already, and he’s going to be so hard to keep off of the floor with how great he is defensively!

I think he’s more of a baby Vince but hopefully he can get that Mamba mentality. Shaedon is easily more athletic than Kobe was

Shaedon has the potential to be a star but nothing Ive seen so far to scream like a #1 Alpha like an Ant Edwards. Hope I’m wrong!
