I listened to Charley sing" Hello Darling" at the age of 13 years and was instantly mesmerised-never mind l was thousands of miles away from his home country. Half a century later his music still sounds so fresh and uplifting. Never had a boring moment listening to this evergreen genius in Country music. Charley lives on ! Thank you for sharing the video.
Such a Brilliant Person...Just couldn't believe anyone could perform at this level being 84 years of age, just like when he was a very young man. Rest in peace! I bought all his music. Pride was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956. After basic training, he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he was a quartermaster and played on the Fort's baseball team. That team won the "All Army" sports championship. Pride was discharged in 1958. Too me, Pride was a great American!
He seems so lively in his 80s still had a great sounding voice who would have thought a virus would take him out I guess God needs some more good country music in heaven.

I remember in the interview that he did where he talked about walking into a Nashville Studio wearing a suit and carrying a guitar case and they looked at him and they said wow are you in the right place? He just smiled and said yep. Yeah his music really touched a lot of people and he had a lot of great songs. Won't be the same when he's gone

My dad had 8 guitars, including his bass and banjo. Peavy speakers, sound boards, harmonica on a brace around his neck, and a foot clicker box for harmonizing for the chorus. Over 10 years in a Federal Prison ministry every Friday night.

I'm still so sad from 2008. I had bought tickets for his concert months earlier, then my partner won a trip to Costa Rica and I had to give the tickets away so I could go on the trip. I'm still waiting for him to come back so I can see him live. I did get to see Ray Price in concert when he was 85. He even winked at me! 💞
It's amazing he's able or even sufficiently motivated to be up there at all at 85 years of age. His voice has lost nothing. What a remarkable performer!

Just heard this morning that Charlie Pride passed away due to complications from Covid. My heart is broken and i still cant process this. I grew up listening to Charlie, Merle, Johnny Cash, Waylon, George Jones. I was SO lucky to have grown up in a time when country music was 'REAL!" I first hard Charlie Pride's voice when my mom played Kaw-Liga and i was instantly a fan even though i was only a small child! Something about his natural country tone that always made me want to hear more. I grew up to play and sing country and I covered alot of this great mans songs. SO many country legends are gone, SO few remain who can sing it like it was meant...and never sold out! Soon, they will all be gone, and this world will be alot emptier and country music alot more vacant. Thankfully, we have this place!!! Long Live REAL Country! RIP Mr Pride...Say HOWDY to all those Grand 'ole Opry stars waiting for you up there!!
As a teenager my Sister and I heard him for the first time. We actually thought we discovered a hidden treasure that many didn’t know about, lol. We bought all the records we could and tapes for the car she was older, so everywhere we went we blasted his songs. We seemed to think he was a miracle as his voice was so beautiful ; where had he been hiding before. We knew the other greats in country music but he was special; finally at 17 we got to hear him in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was shaking from excitement . There are very few as humble and gracious as him; most legends have an air about them. Not Charlie he always let you know he didn’t think himself better. He deserved much more than any so called very famous singers. But Charlie took everything in stride .Love and miss him, I know he is in heaven , RIP superstar.
Charley was an astonishing performer. I saw him as a teen in the early 70's at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. Every song was amazing. His stage presence was something I'd never seen before & never have since. There isn't a single song he's done that was gold to me.

I saw and met him 18 days earlier in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on August 11, 2019. He was awesome.
What a terrific performance outdoors in August heat. He never took a break.

Bill Anderson, Willie Nelson, and Bobby Bare are the 50s-60s legends still performing. Loretta Lynn is stil here but doesn’t tour since the stroke.
