Hello Petr. Its amazing to me any time an issue crops up on my 1997 4Runner, you post a video within what seems like no time on that exact problem. My cigarette lighter/charger no longer works either. Im going to be getting to the bottom of it after watching your video. Thank you sir for all you do, and sharing it w the world. Have a good day.

My 02 Tacoma power outlets don’t work and I have checked the fuses. And I think I have tried checking them with the key on. But I have given up on them.
You have sparked my interest in them again I will go back and try again. Thanks Peter.

Thank you Peter. I am new to diagnosing cars and I appreciate this simple video showing it how easy it can be. I do get nervous when it comes to voltage and amperage

As far as safety goes, Voltage doesn't get dangerous until you're above something like 30 volts, maybe 50, I don't recall.
AC gets dangerous sooner because the peak voltage goes higher than the average.
But you can still destroy electronics even at 5 v.

Nice video, Peter. The newer, smaller fuses are a pain to remove and replace.

Having owned several Toyotas, including my current vehicle, I immediately would have had the ignition key in the Accessory position, or have the Engine running before checking anything else, as no power is supplied to those outlets with the ignition off on Toyota vehicles. I did enjoy going along for the ride, as you went about troubleshooting.

In a situation like this, do you charge the customer for the diagnostic time?

depends on how much money has been made and if the customer is well liked. I know a mechanic charged a girl instead of 2 hours and 15 minutes, he charged her full three hours because he knew she was working as an online girl

Ooh that fuse leg a bit charred.. it might be on it's way with her using the heated blanket.. maybe she can get a rechargable heated vest on amazon or something for the cold morning drives..
AND YES! I spotted that black german auto in the outside video when the people were still away for independence holiday! Wondered if it was yours since I didn't see the camper van and it didn't look like the VW and I looked at ALL the cars on the lot and street haha.

    Good basic training.
If you have a minute take a look at this lighting system designed by Chicago auto pros and Rupes.
It’s a set of led spot lights that are remote controlled and has color adjustments. I started with two on a stand then added 4 on the ceiling. There is also a light panel made type s just for photography.

When you are checking resistance across a fuse, or checking continuity, and you come across a blown fuse on an always live circuit? Always use voltage setting on any potentially live circuit.
