    Fantastic videos, fabulous bike. I've loved these Yam v-twins since my mate bought one new in 1981, I think?
    Always wanted to street-track a TR1 because the chain drive lets you bugger about with wheel width, but have neither the skills required nor the infrastructure necessary 😅. Great seeing you do this buddy and I'm chuffed for you that it started so easily.
    I haven't seen the road test yet but I bet the mudrange is vastly improved with the extra 250 cc, just wondering if bigger carbs might be a benefit?

    I have an XV1100 but am a bit unsure about the dual rear shocks - they just don't look as good as the stealthy mono-shock. Maybe I need to find a cheap 750 and see if I can fit the 1100 engine into it ... That said, I do want to be able to ride 2-up so maybe dual-shock is the way to go. Your bike has certainly given me food for thought :) And it sounds so good too! Normally the short pipes sound crap but yours sounded really good - I can only imagine they sound even better with the end-caps?
    I'm also wondering about using a sanding disk on the grinder to make those cooling fins on the cylinders a bit thicker - like on the 750 engine ... but not sure whether that will have any significant detrimental effect to the cooling?
    Nice work, sir.

    Hey bro that's an amazing job, I have a xv500 which is a pain in the arse... Iv converted it into a cafe racer and all the cosmetics are done. I'm having problems with the tci unit so I'm just thinking of throwing the old motor out and upgrading to a 750... Would u have any insights about whether or not the 500 frame can take the 750 and does the shaft align ok with the 500 swingarm?? Any input would be really helpful thanks again bro.

      That’s a good question, I actually don’t know a thing about the frames for the 500s. I dare say they would be different to the models with 750-1100cc engines.
      I know they have a lot of similarities but I Havnt even seen a 500 in person so I wouldn’t know unfortunately hah. Goodluck with it though.

    Good evening, my friend, I would like some of your knowledge..! I have a virago 750 from 1984, could I put an engine from models 1995 and later ..? For example, would an 1100cc engine from 1998 fit..?

    • @mattfranco8715
      @mattfranco8715  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dimensionally they are identical. There are differences between the wiring etc but it’s easy to work out.
      My 1000 conversion was simple. Swapped a couple of cables in the connector for the pickups and didn’t run a fuel pump or anything. Fired right up.

    Matt Franco, I didnt see you swap the cdi box or add a fuel pump when you did the motor swap. I am wanting to swap my '86 xv750 motor to either a 1000cc or 1100cc, and also considering the 750 head swap onto the newer motor. The larger displacement bikes run the electric fuel pump, is it necessary? And what about the cdi box?

    • @mattfranco8715
      @mattfranco8715  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah I kept the original ignition unit. I swaps 2 wires on the stator cover connector as they were wired the opposite way and boom. Ran straight away.
      I’m using mikuni VM34s and it’s fine without a pump. So I never cared to look into it.

      Hey mate! Good on ya! Seems like a couple of people have done it now.
      From what I can see the intake and exhaust lobe heights between the 750 and 1000 engines are the same, but the base circles of the camshafts are where they differ.
      Oh did it? The Hitachi’s are good, I’ve still got mine in a box somewhere.
