Nice review. What’s the z dimension from the bottom of the feet to the cutting bed surface?

Mike...as I watched this review I came to realize just how good you are at describing all the relevant points on the equipment you review. Before now, you reviewed equipment I am familiar with, as I have run dang near every piece of equipment you would ordinarily find in a small to medium sized production wood shop, so I could kinda sleep through some of it....y'know?
Today I found I was riveted to every word. Metal, while familiar, is not my forte. Carbide saw blades cutting serious metal??? News to me! 14" chop saw for metal cutting equipped with a carbide blade??? News to me! I now know what I need to know to make an informed decision on the purchase of this type of tool. Maybe I don't buy the Evolution...but from this point on every brand saw of this type is going to be compared to the Evolution, and maybe...just maybe that is what prompted Evolution to drop that unit on your workbench. In what some might consider an overdone fashion (which is simply just a function of the way you work...guts and all, baby!), I soaked in all the features, build quality and performance of this unit. Would I buy one? Probably not. Not much room in my woodshop for a metalworking spot...but...now I know what is out there, what is available and who's tools I can trust to do the job. Isn't that what you do?
Well done, Mike. This is an excellent presentation.

My thoughts on this machine after purchase. Over all its great! The miter slider is top notch and accurate. The overall construction is very good.
The clamps are cool and ill use them sometimes, but more often then not they are more hassle to use. i found that if the clamps are not at the right height, they can lift you material when tightening if not careful (especially with the "v" clamps).
My biggest drawback is that I think the blade should be able to be positioned more forward. Even when cutting 2" HSS the blade lands flat on top of the tube even when the blade is all they way in the forward position....
so when would you ever use the most furthest back blade position?
I just wish the blade position could be adjusted as it shows on that sheet they included.... that sheet shows rectangle tubing being cut starting at the corner.... like how am I suppose to do that?

a $900 saw is never going to be in my price range which is why i set my sights long ago on trying to get evolution's $380 chop saw however, i had a weird fetish for off brand tools my whole life and i just found out that "WEN" has come out with their own metal chop for $328 and it list's very similar specs to the cheaper evolution. If memory serves me correctly YOU have an in with WEN to get tools for reviewing, could you maybe tug on that line and see if you can get a WEN CM1452 15-Amp 14-Inch Premium Multi-Material Cut-Off Chop Saw for a review. i'm sure it's not as good as any of the evolution saws but it is cheaper than all the evolutions and for us poor folks a lot of the time our only choices are, cheaper or not at all.........

    An honest and legible review🔥
Do you happen to have S380CHS? Is evo S380CHS or evo S335MCS better? They both have almost the same specs and are both heavy duty saws.

MIkey, let me be the first to say that it this is another great review. Looks like a beast of a saw. Cost? Oops, asked and answered. I'd say that it would be a good addition to a shop; even if, it was only used sporadically to cut metal. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

What if I need it in the future has been my excuse for many a tool purchase. One nice thing about having a TH-cam tool channel is no more questions when expensive looking tools appear! 😂 Thanks for watching Meat!

Good review. You should have cut your box section as shown in the instructions. It will extend blade life a lot.

I very rarely do metal work and I want one. Because 14" blade. Metal sparks. Big saw. 🙂

    Evolution S355MCS vs deWALT dw872
Which one is the best for cutting thick heavy metals?

    • @ProjectsForAllReviews
      @ProjectsForAllReviews  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I haven’t used the DeWALT so I can’t really answer. Based on the pics I think I’d take the Evo for the mitering ability. However the DeWALT is 20 lbs lighter with a smaller base and might be easier to transport and carry on the job. Thanks for watching!

The included blade is for steel but there are 6 different 14 inch blades on the website including a fine wood and a multi material. I haven’t tried them yet but will eventually. Don’t see why you couldn’t use this for wood with the right blade. Thanks for watching!

Be careful. I bought the evolution stand and it was missing a part. Customer service gaslighted me saying the piece was correct, even though the other same piece was correct with a spring and detent ball. No satisfaction from evolution.
