Let's be real I keep it real evolutionalized penetrized penalize no lies I got mine from contact it came with them with candy I'm not going to say it but the TTT O2 is a little bit low on ground clearance and I like the idea of you having that Tamia car that new one Chelsea as a rally car but I don't think the tt02 is a good rally platform because of the low clearance my opinion just from experience of having one don't even know if there's even has to do too on it but you know I'm just saying those are the OZ rally rims on the OZ edition lancer
Gotta love the Lanve Evo 5 body set, it looks awesome. To be fair the TT02is a decent beginner chassis, easy to build and pretty reliable, and you can get a shedload of upgrades, not just from Tamiya. I've just built a TT01E Buggyra Fat Fox racing truck, chassis was super easy, bodyshell not so simple, it was a bloody nightmare to be honest. I didn't go box art, mine is PS63 Bright Gun Metal and black in places, and done a bit different decal wise. Excellent video as usual!!
I know people hate the TT-02, but if Tamiya are to keep viable as a company, they've got to flog something with a good profit margin and recover sunk costs, that requires scale of economy. That being said, I prefer the MK VI, ideally the Tommi Makinen road car.
The TT-02 is actually really good once you put the time and money into upgrading it. The criticism comes from people that don’t understand why Tamiya must make the TT-02 what it is. Really though, the love and dislike for the chassis is true. I have two of them and while I love what mine has become (a TT-02R clone), in stock form… it leaves too much to be desired.
@@taimaishu-nao1922 I've owned a tt02 but I think people do understand why it has to be what it is to keep costs down, so then you got a toy grade, entry level RC.
Unless you're doing a scale class I personally regretted putting money into this chassis..
I club race TC so I never looked back.
Objectively I don't think it's very good due to how basic it is, and the need to have to upgrade parts. But it serves its purpose in that regard....
Looks great!! Definitely love the fact they cut out the wheel arches. Makes a big difference when cutting it ready for painting.

I have a tt-02D. Nice and not so expensive. Now IAM often looking for a lunchbox 😂
Why not the Rally livery? Why the TT-02? Why that boring box? Tamiya is wasting so much potential on this truly iconic car. The Opel Calibra or the Lancia 037 were perfect examples of how to do it right. Then it would have been interesting for me too. But as it is, to me it's just another "new" bodywork on the TT-02. Sure, you can build it the way you want it with a lot of effort, but the experience would be nicer.

I dont see why you used Nicky Grist co pilot voice in the intro, especially since he was colin Mcraes co driver in the subaru impreza ford focus. To my knowledge he was never in the mitsubishi. Just me being rally nerd. :)

Have you checked the XV-02 won't line up with the TT02 Evo body? I hope so as that's going to be a big issue for me if not.
@@RCKickschannel The XV02 front body posts are further forward than the TT02, I've seen people 3D print adaptors though to allow the posts to be relocated to the damper mount as per the XV01.
I'm pretty sure you can (soon) buy the body only, without pre drilled holes.
@@RCKickschannel I haven’t found a way so far, but they for sure don’t line up out of the box. The Xv02 uses front bumper body mounts.

Another body thrown on the TT-02! this can go on for ever. Now if it was on a TT-11 (ZVC) chassis that would be exceptional

What shocks can I get for this for rally conversion? And where do I get the rally decals? I have to admit when I opened the tt-02 I was disappointed with the shocks and how basic it looked, this was my third tamiya I started with a blackfoot; then I got the pajero metal top. Once I finished the car; the Subaru WRC version I just felt in love with it; it just looks awesome! And coming from a Blackfoot and a pajero I think it is plenty fast for me. The tt-02 is not as fun as my Blackfoot but it is awesome to look at the classic Subaru rally car design!

People loathe the TT-02 but forget that there’s also the Buggy (TT-02B), the “rare because no one bought it” Truck chassis (TT-02T), the drift variants (TT-02D; TT-02SD), the R and RR variants and the crazy adjustable TT-02 Type S and Type SR racing chassis. There’s even the TT-02FT which has the expensive track hub kit that costs $150 for a set of just two tracks as well as the chassis cover Gav has in this video that’s pretty much useless.
I get the dislike for them and in “normal” TT-02 form, they’re quite basic. But if you put in the time, money and effort , the TT-02 can be a really awesome chassis, especially the Type SR which can be seen in competitions all around the world!
I have an R clone with a one-way and it’s a TT-02 that I never knew a TT-02 could possibly be!
I love Rally cars from that period the Tommy Makinens edition Evo 6 was my favourite I wonder if that body would fit straight on to a tg10.🤔
TG10/TGS chassis accepts this and other TA/TB/TT touring car bodies. Just remember to make holes for the engine.
Might pick this one up as well when it’s released, get some more use out of my tt02 kit I’ve got plus I’ve never had the Evo body before , might be able to manage the decals a well ;)

Curious what makes the XV-02 Pro a better chassis than the TT-02? Asking because I'm not at all familiar with these newer Tamiya kits.
xv-02 has higher ground clearance out of the box, the tt02 can be modified too get more ground clearance shaving some plastics & flipping the hubs i believe, bit more balanced weight on all 4 corners i believe then the tt02 could be modified too as well.
Larger shocks for the higher ground clearance so for jumps it's easier to tweak in that way & a few more things like the option too have a center diff instead of the slipper clutch & also optional too match the front & rear drive ratio so it's a bit more easy too push the rear out on the xv-02 out of the box then the TT02, think you can do the same on the tt02 but only via hop ups as its a popular chassis for drifting too ofc.
Also got rear toe in, toe out, camber adjustment on the xv-02 out of the box while the tt02 would need upgrades for it as well.
Tt02 is a beginner kit, good but not great, steering slop, adjustability, and speed are all pro over the tt02
@@Mini-z1994 TT-02 is okay for drift. Most competitions today require RWD and the TT-02 conversion kit is not only expensive but offers no adjustability. The TT-02 chassis is very versatile depending what you build.

That’s because it depends on the motor and ESC you use. You can get 30-40 mph from these easy enough before things get out of control but people have pushed the TT02 chassis up into 70-80 mph with mods
If the body mount holes are already pre drilled, that would be a problem for someone putting it on an XV02 pro. The body posts are in different spot.
I see the front posts are on the bumper. I wonder if you can also fit them on the shock upright like the tt02?

Gav, the chassis cover is a waste of money. Dozens of channels on TH-cam have showcased just how awful the cover is at keeping the chassis clean during a rally run. You may as well keep it as a vintage part since I doubt any will sell until they improve the design. The Katech version is slightly more improved but yeah, it’s one of those parts that you think you need to have but in reality… just fails to give you the result you’re after.
BTW, The Senna body sets are about to go on sale so buying the whole kit for JUST the body… Hopefully, Tamiya sell the Evo 5 body set standalone but I have a feeling it’ll be like the Supra Racing body set that is only available as a chassis kit.

There is no part number yet being that it is not yet released. Once the kit becomes available the body set will be available soon after
Gav do you know if it is possible to fit the rally interior over the chassis cover and still fit the body on the car? I have the Audi and will be getting the Mitsubishi as soon as i can. Thanks Jason
Personally mate, I don’t recommend the chassis cover. I’ve seen too many channels buy them for their TT-02 and ALL of them had dirty chassis after their run in dirt! Something about the way it was meant to seal the chassis, it just fails.
As for if a rally interior will fit on top… I believe someone in Japan did it to a ‘99 Impreza Monte Carlo and yes, you can have both to my knowledge. It will still depend on how low you want your body set to sit but otherwise it should fit both.

Sick of this all plastic thingy and still need find others hopup why not include all the option part so no need so troublesome and it cost not so much also ... except for servo, TX RX that depend on owner taste. Just my 2cent opinion...
