This was a show at the Tower here in Philly. First was a new band. Van Halen. Second this great guitarist Montrose. Then these guys. A Killer Guit Show!!!
This is why I quit going to see these guys anymore because I grew up seeing this line up this is when journey Rocked I Ainsley can't be there but the rest can put your differences away an Ross Greg Steve give the bay area one historic night of journey might have two make it 2nights the old guy like me been listening an going to your concerts since 1975 I'm dreaming Neal you can make it happen
At or about 6:10, Gregg and Steve try to decide to make up their minds who is going to sing, while Neil decides to makes up his mind to leave the planet! Best Schon solo of all time, Classic.
Steve had two choices back in the days when they were still playing the pre-Steve Perry songs: One, he could look stupid dancing around on stage playing a tambourine or a cowbell while Gregg is singing his songs, or two---head to the back and score with a groupie. He's doing the former when he would have been better off doing the latter.
On the original recording, Rolie double-tracked his vocal which is why Perry sang along with him. Then around 6:04, Perry sings the harmony. Schon just kills it here although I’ve never seen him do a Hendrix thing with laying backwards on the floor during a solo.
For the 50 Anniversary them must be played with Rolie but the drama Cain/Pineda makes this reunion impossible ( thanks Cain For ruin Journey becoming a pop band and later can't play without Greg Rolie . I'm tired of "Don't stop believin' (Jonathan Cain) and You singing " Feeling that way/Anytime who dare you 😡💩
That transitional time after Steve Perry joined the band when they were still playing early Journey songs to fill their live set must have been awkward for Steve Perry--he just looks out of place on stage like he doesn't know what to do when Gregg Rolie is singing his songs---this would have been a good time for him to head to the back and make out with a groupie!
Saw look in fut tour thru fronteirs esp.after that dumpin ross steve they became girly band.n put out nothing gd imo..73.thru 80 peak.then girlstuff perry great singer but after 83 n solo album he done nothing neal also
Off the finest Album they ever put out, including the Steve Perry stuff. Neal absolutely was at his finest here! Just strangling that gold top!
This is from their second LP "Look Into the Future" -- Steve Perry did not join them until this tour for their fourth LP Infinity
Amazing chemistry with all these members of the band. ❤

The beginning is an early recording of Leon Russell’s A Song For You which appeared later on Neals grammy nominated solo album Voice.

Schon's riff at 4:32 is killin'!

Is this the infinity concert or departure?
TIL:
Journey started out as a psychedelic blues-rock band.
