Dare County, NC is named after Virginia Dare, purported to be the first English child born in what would become the thirteen colonies.
It's not 9 people in the county in Kentucky. It's 9 people in the exclave section of the county.

Guys guys guys. Every now and then I have to make this correction on that highest temperature 🌡 on record.
I was stationed at Twentynine Palms, CA from 1998-1999. It's in the Mojave Desert right by Joshua Tree, CA. The Summer of '98 there, at that time, was the record high. Average daytime temps were 140-150°F, while night-time temps were no lower than 90°F, usually ranging between 90-110°F.
At least half of that Summer was in the 140s. The rest was in the 120s.
I was there. It definitely happened. And I have no idea why that 134°F in Death Valley as the highest on record continues on the record. 🤷♂️
BTW, did you notice the mileage on the US Route 6 sign in Bishop, California ? It was 3205 miles to Provincetown, Massachusetts at the tip of Cape Cod.
9:16 - Minnesotans drive on frozen lakes all the time in the winter, mostly to go ice fishing. Many people take large pickup trucks, because the ice is usually several feet thick (although this winter has been so abnormally warm that I wouldn't recommend it this year).
the coming eVTOL air taxis will help with this, you could probably fly across in like 5-10 minutes 🙂 Joby Aviation was pretty confident it could start air taxi service in Los Angeles in 2025...well I don't know, are there airports in both cities? At first, the eVTOLs will probably have to do airport to airport only. But they hope to be able to create "veriports" at various points in each city. eVTOL = Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing, it's powered by batteries, takes off and lands like a helicopter, but the blades rotate and it flies like an airplane after takeoff 🙂 I think the Joby one holds the pilot and four passengers. 🙂 The range is 155 miles and the max speed is 200 mph. 🙂
See if you can find an episode of "Ice Road Truckers". It's somewhat staged, but it does explain the operation of ice roads that only exist during deep Winter in the US and Canada. There are places in Alaska and Canada where there are no roads for much of the year, but in Winter vehicles can move across frozen rivers and lakes.
I love this guy's videos. I found him because of you guys. I need to visit his channel more though; I feel bad I haven't been there in a while. I'm going there now. Great to see Archie's cameo appearance.
Dare County NC is a beautiful area. I grew up there and lived there up until about 15 years ago. A lot of history there. There is the Wright Brothers and the Lost Colony" and then there are the Lighthouses. Some of them you can actually go up in them. There is actually a long running play that has been going on now for almost a hundred years now and is put on by the locals in an outdoor theater in a town called Manteo.

Nitpick: "Highest temperature ever recorded on earth" technically should have an additional qualifier, along the lines of "caused by weather." Much higher temperatures are routinely recorded in various other circumstances, at least one of which (volcanic activity) is not human-caused. (The most common such circumstance is almost certainly food preparation.)
It's not nine people in the entire county at the western end of Kentucky; it's nine people in the little exclave, isolated from the rest of the county by that bend in the river.
Minnesotan here! We drive on lakes all the time. You have to remember how cold it is here and for how long. We go months on end with temperatures below freezing and dropping down to -35 or lower. And we can get snow from October to May. You don't start driving on the ice as soon as it freezes over, of course.
That being said, some people do go through the ice every year because they tempt fate by going out too early or too late.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is crazy… but yeah the tunnel parts are the same as any other tunnel, concrete and tile, fluorescent lights, catwalk and cables.
San Bernardino County, the largest U.S. county and largest in the lower 48, is 40% the size of England. Alaska does things differently but North Slope Borough and Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area are both larger than England. Yukon-Koyukuk is larger than the entire UK with only a population of 5,000.

Just for reference - Inyo County, with a population of less than 20,000 people is not quite twice the size of North Yorkshire (1.78 times by my math) - the largest County (by Area) in the UK.

The county that I grew up in has 2 county seats and neither is any where even close to the center of the county. They both set along the Mississippi River. They are approximately 20 miles apart and both close to the same size and population. The possible reasons for their location is that one, Fort Madison, has the states super max prison which was also the territorial prison and was at one time the oldest continually operating prison west of the Mississippi River. It also has one of the oldest continually operating courthouses in the state. The other county seat was the governments hospital that operated during the U.S. Civil War and is the location of the only National Cemetery in the state of Iowa. It is also the location of the first lock and dam built on the Mississippi River which has been the greatest variation of river height and also has the distinction of controlling the largest area of water and also the only dam to control the entire the pool of water to dam above it. The pool above the dam also is the largest commercial fishery on the river. The town of Keokuk the southern most county seat is also the farthest point south in the state.

While technically not a county but an area of Yellowstone National Park is "The Zone of Death". This is the 50-square-mile area in the Idaho section of Yellowstone National Park in which, as a result of a reported loophole in the Constitution of the United States, a person may be able to theoretically avoid conviction for any major crime, up to and including murder. Also known as "the Train Station" for all the Dutton fans.

If you are coming to Idaho check out Murphy Idaho, it’s the county seat of Owyhee County Murphy has population of around 62 people the county is 8,900 square miles with a population of just under 15,000. There is a museum and at the right time of the year you can visit a old mining town of Silver city lots of history. Just a suggestion for your future trip

White Pine County in Nevada passed a local resolution canceling the state mask mandate. Furthermore, any state inspectors were required to isolate in a hotel for 2 weeks. 😂 Nye county Nevada passed a resolution requiring ballots to be hand counted. ❤
