    The original Novablast wasn't an ideal shoe for me, but the new v2 has a lot of solid updates that will make the shoe a dynamite daily trainer for a lot of runners. I'm pretty excited about it, how about you?

      On my second pair of v1, took the first pair to 800km and the second pair around 200 km now. Looking forward to getting v2 in a few months!!

      "More material in the lateral heel compensates for someone who pronates."
      *Don't you mean supinates? As the extra material on lateral side prevents rolling to outside...

    I haven't run in the Novablast, but I generally love Asics shoes. I do agree with all your dislikes about Asics shoes (bulk, weight, thicker upper, not the most nicest looking shoes). I recently bought a pair of lighter, faster Brooks thanks to getting a good deal and wanting to try something different, and while I'm happy with them, the things I don't like about them, make me appreciate Asics more. Kinda feel like I'm in the minority being an Asics lover, but to me, they're the most consistent, reliable shoe brand I've tried.

    • @10daysAgo
      @10daysAgo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are Asics more reliable than the big 3 ( Nike , Adidas and Puma ) ? I actually want to try some of their products . I absolutely love their designs . Since they are Japanese , hopefully they would be reliable too . Why will anyone hate these lovely designed shoes ?

    The original Novablast is my all-around favorite of my current collection of 20 or so shoes. I'm really looking forward to Novablast 2 ... they better not mess it up! The big offset felt weird at first but other 'dislikes' don't apply to my experience over 553 miles on the originals.

  • @nerostile333
    @nerostile333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I bought 2 pairs of Asics 3 years ago. The first one "Noosa 11 tri" which i use for work that needs 8h long distance walks is still in use 2021. The sole is totally walked to death but damn those shoes are still so comfortable to your joints like on the first day. 2021 i bought Asics "Novablast 2" in black which has even better cushioning. Forget Adidas, Nike, Allbirds, etc. Asics is the answer to all your problems.

    I love the first Novablast - only problem I had was the original colorways were all weak, but they did release better ones later. The reduced drop in v2 is really appealing to me - this line will stay in my rotation until/unless Asics screws it up.

    Great tempo run shoe. Fun and fast. But for me there are two drawbacks: 1. The outsole, despite appearances, has terrible grip on damp surfaces. You can feel it slide, especially on city sidewalk tiles. 2. On runs that last longer than an hour, they start to feel squishy. I've had some uncomfortably sore ankles after long runs in these. Maybe there's too much foam, with no carbon plate to provide spring. My 2 cents.

  • @FredrikDavidsson
    @FredrikDavidsson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Novablast 1 was a pleasant surprise. Think it's a more diverse shoe than for example the Nike Infinity Run.
    The Novablast made me change my views on Asics. As a result I got myself the Asics Metaspeed sky as well. A great speed / race shoe.

    At last a decent honest review of a shoe that's not all it's cracked up to be. Ive got the first version after reading all the hype This shoe feels absolutely massive on foot and after using this shoe i developed a MCL injury. The fact that Asics made so many updates to this shoe i think says it's all.

  • @rgweaver
    @rgweaver 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I regularly run in and love the original Novablast (v1). It's a very comfortable daily trainer with enough cushion for long runs and enough snap for faster work. The upper certainly isn't going to win any awards (not very form-fitting or breathable), and I agree the looks are at best uninspired. But since v2 has come out (looking forward to trying it!), v1 can be had for under $100, which is very affordable.

    I do think the shape and design of the shoe looks really cool but agree that the color ways were a pretty big miss. Excited to try a pair (I know I’m a year late but just ordered some). Previous daily trainers were a Clifton 7 and when I tried the Clifton 8s at the store they felt basically identical, in my personal opinion, to the Clifton 7s that I wore into the store. I do love the Clifton’s but want to try something different. Thanks for the review!

    I run Novablast v1 for 400km incl. a marathon. It holds up well. The drawback is that the heel feels bulky, even for walking. The heel of v2, with 8mm offset, still looks bulky, so I would not buy it.

      The shoes are very different so it depends what you prefer. I have the Mach 4 and the Novablast 1 and prefer the Novablast. The Mach 4 is lighter, smoother and faster but it is not as bouncy, cushioned or fun. I would not describe it as a max cushion shoe - for me the Mach 4 starts to feel hard during a run and I don't feel any energy return. By contrast, the Novablast is a versatile max cushion shoe with incredible energy return. It does a great job absorbing the impact from the road and feels great during easy runs and when you want to pick up the pace. Novablast hands down for me. I like the way it looks too. Can't wait to get 2nd version.

      Stock up on 13's. 14's feel kind of funky. Cushion has less bounce, it feels heavier underfoot. It feels a little more pillow like as opposed to cloud like. I do like the the upper and lacing system a lot better. It's still gonna be a solid shoe, especially as just a everyday/standing at work/comfort shoe, but just the underfoot feel is gonna turn a bunch of nitpicky runners off.

    You are on the heavier side of the running spectrum. Seeing you complaining about the weight of the shoes sounds not very genuine as far as you try to be objective. I owned the first Novablast for 3 runs. Loved the ride, but the ankle collar caused terrible chafing, bleeding within an hour... It seems this issue might be solved with the new collar! But there’s something strange I noticed with the first version: literally after each of the three runs I could throw away the pair of socks I wore with big holes near the tip of my big toe. Never have it with other shoes, but the Novablast upper material somehow grinded through them in no time... Have others experienced this as well? And does the 2 have the same jacquard (?) mesh as the 1? I would love to experience the ride of the Novablast again on easy runs, but preferably without them shredding through my skin and socks 😊
