My favourite is the one jacked Kobold by the Stormrooks in Isle of Dorn who was captured and then his captors told him to wait when the Nerubians attacked, so he's just vibing there looking at the view. If you ask him a question he really appreciates someone asking him questions so he leads you to treasure
2:05 DUDE I'VE LITERALLY BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS! Since we went to Pandaria, then Draenor, then the Broken Isles, I thought the next expansion should have been World of Warcraft: Homecoming, where the old zones get some love and minor races get big story arcs, like the centaur and quillboar in Kalimdor and the murlocs and gnolls and Scarlets in EK. Like, we've been gone so long that they've managed to rebuild right under our noses, and of course, it leads to bigger plots, but nothing COSMIC.
I've always thought this game was always at its peak when it was just elves in a forest. The further away from its Tolkienian roots the game strays, the less interesting it is. The problem with the stakes being universal in a story is that it's entirely unrelatable. 0 people can accurately envision a full 100 miles in their head, let alone a whole universe. Local stakes are ALWAYS preferable to world/universe stakes. I care about Stonewrought Dam and I wish it would get repaired. I don't care about void lords in some far away other dimension.
@@DIEGhostfish wouldnt call it that, the candles evolved to be something meaningful (as in actually keeping the Darkness away) and it's very fitting for this expansion.
Hi Crendor. I recently ran a new alt character through Exiles Reach(Horde) and exited that part of the tutorial to Orgrimmar. While Cork Fizzlepop was guiding me to get my mount and see my trainer, he was fine. The moment we got into the building where the trainers are all located, he started to swim like the npc in Storwind. Not sure if swiming for npcs is 'spreading' but its kinda nice to know there is one on each side now doing it. LOL Love all you vids.
3:12 that's a bowl of Bloodspore, the plant/fungus/lichen that grows in the Borean tundra. All snowbolds have it. It's a drug: Many of the snowbolds in the area between the Horde and Alliance bases actually get your character high on it while fighting in melee. It gives you a powerful stacking haste buff but stuns you at 5 or 10 stacks.
The kobold village is so cool and I wish you could interact with it more. All the little pathways and ladders winding around the mounds. All the little homes. It's all so great.
After all these years, and much wax farming, I finally have it. * summons kobold pet * * uses candle toy on kobold pet * _Look at him. He's wearing it on his nose because he doesn't have any more room on his head._
Wow, what a blast from the past! I don't watch you generally, but i remember watching this series long after i lost interest in WoW itself, and loved it. Edit: Evidently you're still making these, but youtube didn't see the need to recommend them to me after all these years until now.
Here's a fun idea. How about a pointless top 10 for each of the playable races. Or at least most of them, I don't think there's enough NPCs for every race to really stick out for a list.
You no take candle! My first memories were killing the kobolds in Northshire. After them, and the Defias stealing grapes from Molly, it was off to Greater Elwynn to deal with more aggressive ones. Many an adventurer who didn't pay attention lost their lives to those kobolds. Their original aggro grunt still rings in my ears from time to time.
Going to that mine always felt dangerous. There was nothing worse than beeing trapped in the mine, with all the kobolds respawning at you. Nowhere to run
The questline in Ringing Deep where you were defeating the kobolds and their pet insects was great and clearly inspired by Pokemon (And Pokemons main inspiration WAS insects!)
The kobolds in The Ringing Deeps seem to be a throwback to the Blue Wax kobolds, there's some lore things you can find talking about the darkness eating them and other little tidbits.
Wasn't there a scrapped plan to have Garrosh lead a group of Gnolls, kobolds, quill boar and a few other races as the Mongrel Horde before Blizzard settled on Warlords of Draenor as an expansion concept.
Honestly the "Axis of Awful" concept would be great for an Eastern Kingdoms levelling revamp. Nothing tied to any big cosmic stuff that major characters should be involved with, just a big conspiracy between all the minor factions trying to rise up against the humans and dwarves. That would also keep it feeling timeless, unlike Cataclysm zones that feel very much stuck in what should have been a very short period of time
The Bluewax Kobold stuff getting tied straight in to Ringing Deeps Quickwick and Waxtail Kobolds , and ultimately in to the Darkflame Cleft dungeon and it's end boss being simply The Darkness, is awesome. (Plus, Skitter is the best Kobold, by /far/ :P )
Right? I was so confused that one time, when I watched something related to D&D and they described Kobolds as dragonkin, basically small humanoid lizards. For me those were always hut little rat-dudes with candle obsession.
I kinda went with the idea of kobolds adopting the behaviour of candles because of that one group but with the new dungeon, I’m curious if all Kobold communities have a “darkness”
The new kobolds in The War Within are great. They're still just as dumb as they were in past expansions, but they've been expanded to have character on top of their silliness.
I was a little surprised that Goldtooth was not number one, since the whole "you no take candle" pretty much started with Goldtooth and the Elwynn kobolds in Fargodeep - then I heard your reasoning for putting Waxbeard at number one and it is hard to disagree with that.
It probably isn't possible without completely redesigning the entire game but I wish WoW would add a third faction that's a "bad guy" faction where you can play as kobolds, murlocs, troggs, etc. I just really want to play as a kobold lol.
it's weird seeing no hearthstone kobolds appear in the new kobold zones, since they are so prominent in hearthstone by now. just compare how many top 10 murlocs had cards of the named characters
Alright then, Touhou. First, understand, it's a 4 syllable word. You're doing a Germanic thing when you say the word "tow how". That's called a vowel glide, and the Japanese don't really ever do that in their native language. The u after each o doesn't change the sound value, it "doubles" the vowel, it extends the duration. You say it as a two syllable word when you should be saying it with the o sound extended. And as for the o sound, it's much closer to rhyming with "toe" than "tao/tow". Although, if you say the word toe slowly, you'll probably notice you're still making a vowel glide at the very end of the sound! almost up to a long u sound. Again, very Germanic. We want to eliminate that u sound at the end and just make a pure o sound, which sounds VERY odd to English ears, but is the correct way to pronounce it.
Not putting Scrit, the gigachad kobold without a candle on the list is a crime
Leaves room for a part two
he was actually #11
too new, part of sojurner of ringing deeps, imo not pointless
@@crendor1:36 they were going to be the "Mongrel Horde," but Blizzard changed it to the Iron Horde in Warlords
@@BattlestarHavoc Too new? There are kobolds from the Ringing Deeps shown in the middle of this video.

Crendor has confirmed in previous WoW playthroughs on Twitch that he did, in fact, take candle :O
🤣->😐->🤫
And still, no public statement on the recent controversies surrounding the Candle Making Industry. Tsk tsk.
Candle scandal 😲
*Mongrel Horde or Axis of Awful* should really be a playable faction , Kobold player can get revenge for having their candles 🕯 stolen from them 😅
I love how you did a Kobold voice for the numbers

The Mongrel Horde/Axis of Awful and the main villain group almost happened in Warlords
Had no idea there was a Touhou reference in WoW. And hearing Crendor’s pronunciation of Touhou was majestic.
I need to go give Skitter a hug after not making the list :(

Kobolds! We love those silly little guys. I have such vivid memories of those Elwynn Forest quests since I’ve played a lot of Alliance haha.

seems reasonable
OMG, I had no idea they added granny and baby versions of kobolds in the newest expansion! Maybe playable kobolds will happen someday?
Kobold's being afraid of the dark is the best addition to wow lore ever imo. Also makes me feel conflicted about taking so many candles...

they are feathers on his head as rakanishu has feathers on his head
*RAKANISHU!*
Granny Scribbles is one of my new favorite characters in the war within
The koganishu saying only his own name is also a reference to D2, the fallen would always say rakinishu, even the ones that werent him.
The fabled Ouchpatcher had better be on this list, Crendor.
It's always the Pointless Top 10 videos that make me miss WOW. I don't know why, but here we are.
This is a great example of blizzard’s level design tbh. I’ve been able to guess each location based off the wide outside shots you took. Pretty cool.
YESSSSS I was waiting for this one!
As soon as I saw the title, I knew Ol Waxbeard and Granny Scribbles most likely inspired the list
I find it funny, usually kobols in other fantasy settings are smal scalie creatures. While in wow they look more like humanoid mouses.
