I heard that cybersecurity is not really an entry level career field and that it’s geared towards those who are already working in IT. I’m looking to go into computer networking and learn the job as much as I can and then transition into cybersecurity.

Just started my bachelors for cyber security so I have 3-4 years before I look for a job, since my job (Walmart) is paying for me to go to school. Would it be recommended to get certifications early or wait closer to when I graduate. A lot of good advice I’ll be following in this video. 👍🏼

Don't wait to get certified! If you can squeeze it in and have the bandwidth go for it. The study material will likely be similar to your college courses, you'll be able to knock out two for one!

Awesome explanation Nick. Just saw your video you posted two years before and I got landed up to this one. I’m in the same situation now, like you were there before you got transitioned to Cybersecurity. Your videos gives me the clarity what to do next.

Hi nic, im recently, just moving into it security. I have background in it.
Im ex forces (UK) and most of my colleagues have went into GRC, now this falls under cyber security but its a much less technicsl role.
Id say its more about people skills. I have been reccomended to do the comptia net+ instead of the ccna as apparently its overkill as ill never be touching a router but its just good to have a foundational knowledge of it and to prove it to your employer. Along with sec + and then down the line your CISSP.
My point being in compliance working towards frameworks like iso27001 you don't really need to know the technical stuff just a general understanding of what your asking?

I got so bored in my last field of work, forklift and plant engineer, made a move to a company that does quite a bit of Lithium ion kit but the majority of their kit is actually old dirty diesel kit so was misled there. That ended just before Christmas, I've been getting into IT/cybersecurity and hoping to make a change soon. The biggest challenge is exactly this, what to do, what certs to get etc. Currently doing a level 3 course whatever that means, once done I will get the voucher to do A+ Net+ and Sec+, but it seems it's staggered and has to be done within 12 months... Thanks for the content.

The other desk is actually my wife's. Our office is a little smaller so we had to setup our desks this way but I think it compliments the background quite nicely. 😄

Let me help you. Before getting into cybersecurity you should pass at least one English Language Arts class.
