That's a good question. Usually it's either because math has a lower case "M", which needs to be capitalised. Or sometimes theres a rogue parentheses. It should look something like this Math.round(effect("Slider Control")("Slider"))

First right click on the text layer to convert to shapes. From there I use motion tools because it’s faster. Otherwise, you can duplicate the layer and delete the unwanted letters from each layer so you only have one letter per layer
wow this tutorial looks amazing but I have a question, are the plugins you mention safe to download? Meaning they don't have virus/malware that would break my computer? Just asking as someone who's very cautious with internet downloads 😶🌫
Hard to tell why without seeing. Sometimes I forget to click off the opacity parameter and back on the source text before applying the blur effect. That could be why.
I mention them the first time I use them. Decompose text at 0:36 and Motion tools at 5:47. Only one I don't specifically mention by name is Flow. The panels are visible first time I use them

The ones I use are from a film burn asset pack. You can make them yourself. Might have to make a video on that
