Melvin kept it 100% on Jimel's Crippin.

  • @HeartReader57

Melvin Kept it 100%. Walter Lundy :Coolaid" was an Original Avalon 5-Tray Crip who was still Crippin from a Wheel-Chair, others that stayed on 52/53rd. South Park all turned Avalon in 1971-1972 time frame. Coolaid stayed on the corner of 53rd and McKinley Ave. Other early Avalon's from South Park were Henry and Reggie Brown, Carl Lee, Alex and Robert Jackson, Johnny Ray who lived on 49th Street, Baby Fats (Donnel) and his brother Larry (lived off 47th and Avalon), Baby Hammer (Roosevelt), Big Head Ralph. This was before Bull Capone and Cartoon were Avalon's after I left and joined the Army in 1974. The Wall Nuts (long defunk) were Kenneth Short (R.I.P Nov 1978), Gary and Terry Miller, Donald and Kenny Smith, Joe and John Humphries, Michael and Kenny Bourgeois, John Seals, Michael Brown, Tony Billingsley, Kenneth Tillman, Wiley Scrutchins and a few others. They were the reason Jimel became a Crip to get help against them when he was leader of the Avalon Gardens Boys. I grew up with Swans, Crips, Walnuts, Denver Lanes, Pueblos, and a whole bunch of others when all of us were youngers before all the gangbanging started in 1969.

This series puts a lot of things together. Very informative. This guy is straight up. One my favorites was the phone interview from Durrough. He said fill in the gaps. It seems like a lot people sat back and watched ,now they like ok , let me set the record straight, that's what he is doing.

he probably did it all, otherwise he couldn't hang with the type of people he hung with and have the status he had.
he grew up in watts, people used to shoot at eacher in watts when the westside and compton were still middle class. he also got shot in 1971, riddled with bullets. he went to locke high for a short time. people there were definitly shooting and doing the serious shit in 69,70,71 where jimel is from

The 3rd wheel basically that's always left out of the hierarchy. He got jealous of Tookie's street cred and swag, but snitched.
