    This little ship was built in 1856 and is the oldest steamer of any kind in service... let that sink in. This ship is 154 years old, and most ships barely last 30. This is like walking down a street in New York City and watching a Model T pull out of a parking space at the supermarket... it just doesn’t happen.

      Yeah i think a lot of people (including myself) struggle to put that amount of time into perspective.
      I like watching clips of the boat from the late 80's as i loved people's style back then enjoying their salmon and strawberries.

      In 1856:
      - The city of Ottawa was a tiny logging village named Bytown.
      Germany didn’t exist yet.
      The tallest building on the planet was still the Great Pyramid at Giza.
      Cunard Line was only 2 years old: White Star Line wouldn’t be founded for 15 years.
      The US President was Franklin Pierce.
      The internal combustion engine and the automobile had not been invented.
      Queen Victoria was about a decade into her reign.
